Going Back to Minor

Hazel Zanteres

The Angel/Devil on your Shoulder
In order for the OSL to officially go back to Minor, we need a vote from the membership. I wanted to include this thread as a way for anyone who thinks strongly against it can speak up and open this for discussion if need be.

I would include the actual poll system, but that has been buggy as of late, so if all active members could please reply with their vote, I'd appreciate it. Thank you. :)

For an overview of what's happened, please have a read of the following thread: A Change of Hands

I'm personally not too sure if going back to minor is the right decision. Yes, we have lost a great driving force of the faction which is definitely a setback, but the others are still here. It's something we can bounce back from, and dropping back to minor would mean we lose most of the progress we already made only to have to build it back up if going back to major ever returns to the agenda. As a minor faction it is harder to create and maintain momentum, especially in activity, and I think the negatives to staying major don't outweigh the positives.

Still, I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to running factions, etc. so take my words with a grain of salt.

I say stay major. When in minor, this faction won't get the recognition it needs. The faction doesn't even have members in the double digits yet. The fact that the faction is major is the only thing keeping the faction alive. If we go minor, we are at the risk of the guild dying and the activity going even lower than it had been. Sure, it could go well but it's a risk I'd much rather not take.

I'm abstaining from voting, but If you guys would like some more visibility for your faction, then a good place to start would be to join this Jedi gathering on Coruscant, where we're celebrating the reopening of the Jedi Temple. Jedi from almost every major faction are being represented there now, and OSL was invited. There are also some rogue/independent Jedi about that you could possibly snag for the OSL. I'd also recommend putting in the effort at reaching out to new writers and those putting out LFGs to grow your member base. All it takes is a quick PM or Discord chat.

The Silver Jedi Order would also be happy to write with the OSL to help drum up activity, including helping you all out with your current dominion. I'd also invite you all to join in our open threads moving forward.

Firstly thank you both for the offers and posting your vote/say!

But onto the matter at hand. I've taken the past several days to think on it, and come to the conclusion that OSL will have to go Minor. It's both ultimately and unfortunately a matter that this will add too much onto my plate with the addition of recent issues that have come up IRL. I took on the position of the Faction Owner to ensure that the very least OSL would remain in some form, even if its as a Minor Faction. Otherwise the faction would likely have ceased to exist entirely. But the fact at hand is there's barely any activity with the faction to begin with. Hardly anyone who first joined is still around or active with the faction. All you have to do is look at the faction threads and see that it's both 1. Despite folks being tagged, barely any showed up. And 2. Across the Invasions and Dominions we took part in, it was always the same folks that joined.
