SPECIAL FEATURES
- Adrenaline Rush: The parasites that bite down into the flesh of the Firrerreo release a steady stream of adrenaline into the body of its host, causing a redistribution of blood to muscles, enlargement of air pathways in the lungs, dilated pupils, and an alteration to her metabolism in order to maximize blood glucose levels for her brain. There is some increased flight or flight response and a noticeable increase in physical strength. This can also cause a more fickle temper, potentially aiding in the drawing on the dark side through anger but also potentially sending its host into a mindless rage.
- The Blood Runs Deep: Along with the adrenaline released into the body of the witch, the orbalisks also release a potent cocktail of chemicals which enhance her body's regenerative capabilities. As a firrerreo this impact is largely superficial, adding little more than five percent of efficiency in her body's regenerative abilities, but it also repairs neural pathways at a slightly greater margin which soothes the pain of injury at a slightly faster rate - the pain from a light cut that might've taken twenty minutes to dull the pain could have been reduced to down to nearly three fourths of that time.
- Flesh Becomes Steel: The parasites themselves, or rather their extremely durable carapace, are virtually unmatched by conventional materials because of their incredible protective properties. Capable of deflecting the powerful blade of lightsabers - penetrated only through the minute gaps in the armor at her joints and under her arms - and resisting a wide array of typical forms of damage, the orbalisks form a veritable armor around its host and protect it from harm. Unfortunately large doses of electricity can harm them, and at significant levels prove lethal to both them and their host - killing the parasites affected and releasing a horrible toxin that break down their host on the subatomic level in a matter of days.
- Collar, Cuff, Constrict: Thin flexisteel bands encircle Braith's wrists, collar, and ankles. These bands are treated with special pheromones which restrain the orbalisks from enroaching further along her body, restraining them to the armor-like shape they've taken across the confined section of her body. Were these bands to be removed somehow, the orbalisks would continue to grow and multiply across her body and eventually kill her through suffocation.
- Carapace: Durable and smooth, the armor formed from the carapaces of the collective orbalisks is capable of outright deflecting lightsabers and taking strikes from blaster bolts. While unable to wholly defend its host from the heavy kinetic strikes of slugthrowers and other high-impact blows, the armor does soften the force from kinetic strikes.
- Fight not Flight: The steady flow of adrenaline increases muscle performance and strength, enhances perception of light and movement, and creates steady upticks in temper - adding to the intensity of rage experienced in its host, which may potentially aid in the drawing on the dark side due to the use of emotions in utilizing the dark side of the force.
- Blood not Tears: Although there is some rather superficial enhancements to her regenerative abilities in regards to wounds, the true impact is felt in the restructuring of damaged nerves, which dulls the pain felt from wounds at an enhanced rate - turning twenty minutes of swearing at a cut in the forearm to fifteen.
- Bestial: As passions flare and tempers flare, if Braith is provoked into a rage the orbalisks will spur her into a mindless rage where she loses complete control of her mental faculties until the rage is spent.
- Toxic: If any number of orbalisks were to die, generally through electric shock from extreme voltages or blows from sonic weaponry, they would release a deadly toxin into the bloodstream of their host which would break her down on the subatomic level in a matter of days.
- Shaken: Beyond the toxins that the orbalisks could release into her body were they to be killed through electricity or sonic weaponry, they also do not provide Braith with any protection from the latter and only some meager protection from the former - acting as little more than silk to sonic weapons, and preventing only immediate death from electric shocks great enough to kill the orbalisks themselves.
- Collared: If any of the flexisteel bands, which are treated with special pheromones to keep orbalisks from encroaching across her head, hands, and feet, are to be removed it will cause the parasites to spread across the uncovered portions of her body and kill her through asphyxiation.
After the once-shattered psyche of Braith Achlys became whole again and her departure from the numbers of the Ancient Eye, the witch traveled to the jungle moon of Dxun to make use of the knowledge she had obtained nearly a decade prior from the Holocron of Heresies. Hidden within the caves are small parasitic insects known as orbalisks. Wearing special bands made of flexisteel, treated with pheromones that deter orbalisks from spreading any further than these bands, Braith adorned herself with these creatures and allowed them to grow and multiply across much of her body to create an impressive scale-like armor.
The surface of this armor is incredibly durable, able to deflect strikes from lightsabers and even withstand sustained strikes from their blades without giving in, but has a fatal vulnerability to electricity and a complete lack of protection from sonic weaponry. If any of these orbalisks were to be killed without first being safely removed, they would release a potent toxin into her bloodstream that would break her body down on the subatomic level in a matter of days.
While also durable, these parasites release a cocktail of chemicals into Braith's bloodstream constantly, ranging from adrenaline - which enhances her perception of movement and light, as well as improves muscle performance and strength and creates an uptick in intensity of how she experiences rage. A potential side effect emerges when she becomes infuriated, if one were to bring her to that point, in which case the orbalisks would cause her to go into a mindless craze until whatever has caused her to enter this rage is no longer present and her anger tapers down. This isn't an immediate flip-of-the-switch in either direction, taking time for it to occur and time for it to wear down, longer to recover from than the span of time it might take to enter such a fury.
The majority of the remainder of these chemicals spur the healing factor of the witch further, though the improvement to her ability to actually regenerate from wounds is so minor it is largely superficial. The only true benefit is that the sensation of pain from wounds tapers off somewhat more quickly, resulting in an hour of aching becoming closer to forty-five minutes. Of course, if any of the bands that keep the orbalisks at bay are removed they will continue to spread and multiply across the remainder of her body until she is completely covered - resulting in a death by asphyxiation.
In regards to general appearance and functionality, there are some minor spine-like protrusions along the center of the top of her spine and some minor protrusions at her joints in a manner not dissimilar to some crustacean's carapaces, such as at her elbows and kneecaps. These could potentially harm someone if enough force were applied against them with these protrusions, but provide no practical use in combat. Some discomfort may be caused by these in her day-to-day life, but such is the consequence of allowing a colony of parasites to live and grow on one's body.
