STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Different Flight Modes - these dropships are designed with three separate flight mode configurations to accommodate the different stages of aerial incursions. There’s Cruise Mode for traversing long distances in a short amount of time, there’s Combat Mode to improve survivability when the vessel is under attack by another spacecraft, and there’s Hover Mode for when the ship is in its final approach to a landing zone or providing close air support. The three modes have the following qualities:
    • Combat Mode - the dropship is most optimized for this configuration, since this mode is the most strenuous on the whole system. The two outboard thrusters gimbal to assist with agility, while power is distributed fairly evenly across the whole vessel. This vessel is quite heavy, so maneuvering is difficult, even with thrust vectoring.
    • Cruise Mode - in this configuration, the Gospel Class Dropship is optimized for speed. The two outboard thrusters lock in place to secure them for higher thrust output, and extra power supply is rerouted to the inboard and outboard ion engines at the expense of other systems. Some power is lost in this configuration due to reduced optimization measures. The weapons systems are disabled and retracted in this mode due to the fact that the recoil of the high firing rate, and the extra drag is dangerous to the ship and its crew at higher speeds.
    • Hover Mode - power supply is totally rerouted from the two fixed inboard ion engines to defensive systems in this mode. The two outboard thrusters gimbal downward to assist with hovering action, since this ship is quite heavy.
  • Modular Cargo Bay- the cargo bay is highly configurable for a wide range of applications and capacities. Some of these can include:
    • Troop Carrier Configuration - holds 40 troops, and many spare weapons/supplies in the ceiling above the passenger compartment, tailored to the loadouts of the specific troops that the vessel is carrying, plus medical supplies. Enhanced inertial compensators are installed so that the troops can stand comfortably while the ship is approaching a contested landing zone.
    • Ground Vehicle Ferry Configuration - Carries 1 average sized armoured vehicle, or 2 small armoured vehicles, or 6 speeder bikes. Tools and maintenance equipment are stored in the ceiling and can be ”pulled” down, or “unfolded” to turn the cargo bay into an effective maintenance garage for said vehicles.
    • Medical Relief Configuration - 6 gurneys, medical supplies, surgical equipment, 1 Bacta tank, disinfectant spray nozzles installed in the ceiling.
    • Cargo Freight Configuration - securely transports several tons of cargo in the cargo hold.
  • T.E.C.M.I.S. (X) - ties the ECM, sensor suites, and fire control systems all together to bolster the effective accuracy of this ship’s weapons.
  • Angel Navis Operating System - if the pilot is a member of the Navis Sacra Religion, and has a Holy Communion Neural Implant, then this ship will have the Angel Navis Operating System installed, and will be bonded to the pilot using a neural interface.
  • Flight Crew Gear Locker- the pressure-sealed cabin of the Gospel-Class Dropship has many items stored in a locker for the protection/needs of the flight crew:
STRENGTHS
  • Different modes - this design has three different configurations that distribute power into appropriate systems that fit the certain mission profiles.
  • Heavy Lifter - the main purpose of this craft is to safely move large amounts of material to any location, including contested military zones.
  • “A” to “B” quickly - in cruise mode, this ship shunts substantial amounts of power from other systems such as defense, weapons, and maneuverability, to increase the output of the engines.
  • Close air support - In hover mode, this vessel increases defensive systems’ power and uses the Mangy Cat Defence Turrets to provide fire support for ground forces while most of its sacrificing speed.
  • Missile Counters - while these ships are not ideal in a dogfight, they are effective in defending against guided ordnance such as missiles. This feature is reduced in cruise mode.
WEAKNESSES
  • Limited Ammo - the only armaments on this ship are the two Mangy Cat Defence Turrets, which have limited ammunition. Once that is gone, these ships have no more offensive capabilities.
  • Weak Dogfighting - despite the fact that this ship defends against missiles well, it does not do very well at all against other fighting ships in a gunfight.
  • Vulnerable in Transit - when the Gospel-Class Dropship is travelling in cruise mode, it is quite vulnerable to ambushes as its defenses are weakened and maneuverability is severely reduced.
  • Sitting Duck - in hover mode, this vessel is slow and very vulnerable to attacks from other ships.
  • Hangar Hogs - even though these ships are built to serve in squadrons of 24, they are quite large, and sometimes carrying vessels struggle to have enough room to support them (OOC: players are encouraged to consider physical hangar space when applying these ships to hangar compliments. Just because a capital ship has a hangar rating for a full squadron, doesn’t mean that 24 will necessarily fit so easily. The fact that these birds are 31 meters wide should be a taken into consideration. Therefore, space usage should be accounted for and justified.)
DESCRIPTION
Every faction in the history of the galaxy has a utilitarian workhorse for the military. For the Nomadic Peoples Coalition, the Gospel-Class Dropship fulfills nearly all of their utilitarian needs, from cargo transport, to medical relief. It has three modes to fit multiple scenarios, making it fast, defensible, and versatile as needed, when needed. It can be deployed in mass numbers to ensure the deliverance of a high percentage of whatever cargo is being transported into dangerous territory. Wherever the Nomadic Peoples Coalition is at, the Gospel-Class Dropship can almost always be seen there, pulling more than its own weight.

The Gospel-Class Dropship is meant for more than just hauling troops. Its hold can be configured for hauling almost anything, including cargo, medical relief equipment, ground vehicles, and pretty much anything else that can make use of that space. If something or someone needs to be transported by the Coalition military, this ship does it quickly, efficiently, and safely.

The safety that this ship provides is credited largely to the three flight modes that it implements. In combat mode, the ship optimizes power output fairly evenly to all systems to achieve maximum survivability while attempting to get out of danger. In cruise mode, substantial amounts of power is shunted from various systems to bolster the maximum speed of the ship for long journeys. And lastly, hover mode gimbals the outboard ion engines downward and kills speed so that the ship can perform limited close air support and final approaches in highly contested landing zones with boosted defenses. With these features, a squadron of Gospel-Class Dropship can be expected to successfully deliver their cargoes in almost any scenario.

Additionally, these ships are built to operate in large numbers for maximum delivery efficiency. By deploying these ships in large numbers, enemies are often overwhelmed by target saturation and will often fail to neutralize all of them before they successfully deliver their cargoes. The downside to this is hangar space; storing a full squadron of these ships is very difficult to manage, and often it is common to see partial squadrons assigned to a unit or carrier.

Lastly, the ship’s computer on this spacecraft is designed to support the Angel Navis Operating System, if the pilot is a practitioner of the Navis Sacra Religion. This allows the pilot, who would be a member of the Clergy Caste, to commune and bond with their ship, via the Holy Communion Neural Implant.

All-in-all, the Gospel-Class Dropship is designed to fill many of the needs of the Nomadic Peoples Coalition, including military, logistics, and even the needs of the Navis Sacra Religion. It is solid, efficient, and cost effective enough to be deployed in large numbers. While it is not ideal in a firefight, it focuses on safe transit rather than the destruction of enemies, while being versatile enough to defend itself and forces on the ground. All this, while the cargo bay is able to accommodate a wide range of needs to the military. It is the perfect utility craft for the Nomadic Peoples Coalition.
