Strengths:
  • Flexible Design: The name says it all, a General Purpose Mass Produced Starfighter isn't looking for the most incredible quality, but seeks to have a highly modular yet easily reproduced frame that can fit a pilot's own personal design at a low cost... or if they use the fighter in bulk, can choose from three standard variations of the attack craft at even lower prices.
Weaknesses:
  • Variant Deficiencies: Each variant has its own key weaknesses, like the fighters lack of jamming system or hyperdrive for an otherwise moderate fighter, the slower bomber engines and its fewer defensive weapons given the increased payload it must carry, or the interceptors lack of shields or hyperdrive (and lower weapon count). Even Custom modded designs will suffer from an inability to draw enough power to support all modular slots utilized depending on the systems put into place.

Description: The GP-MP Primeval-Class Starfighter is a rather simple frame, design specifically with modification in mind in addition to its mass produced nature. The Starfighter has almost no cargo capacity beyond enough rations for a single occupant, a weapon, and possibly with the proper tinkering, an astromech droid. Rather than trying to build a limited production elite starfighter that can fill any role at any time, the Primeval Fleet settled on a starfighter that could be individually outfitted for any one of three standard roles, and do a fair job of it at an enormous production rate. It also allows for individual buyers to trick out the frame to their hearts desire. Want a starfighter with nothing but Ion Cannons, Heavy Shields, Advanced Engines, a Jammer, Advanced Targeting Computer, and a Class 0.5 Hyperdrive? Certainly... although good luck trying to find enough power to use all of those at any given moment. Once again, the mission statement of this ships is General Purpose... so attempting to buy it to trick it out into the next generation of an Elite Attack Craft... you may as well just start building a new starfighter, because that isn't what the GP-MP Primeval is.

Intent: I needed to find an open market mass produced starfighter... and found very few results. This submission is a direct response to this deficiency, and seeks to correct this.
Who Can Use This: Anyone looking for a simple open market mass produced ship, may now look no further.

Please remove this because there are systems which would require Development contained in this. A list of items not needing Development would be your best bet here but any item is too broad a scope and covers items that can not be used.

Also, would it be alright if I just reduced the size? What is the real difference between a normal starfighter and a 'Heavy' Starfighter? Is the larger variant allowed more leeway for including more weapons or something?

[member="Zambrano the Hutt"] That would be ok, make it smaller "under 20 meters" and work out the weapons loads where they fit what we allow. Interceptor = 4, Fighter/Bomber= 6. Bombers get more warheads per launcher.

Edit: You could have 8 weapons on the custom version if you like, but it would need to be limited production and have 10 posts of dev. when it is submitted.
 
[member="Reshmar"] Okay, so I made some adjustments but I'm still not sure what to do about listing what approved submissions or wookiepedia weapons to put down as available for the custom version. Changes: Size reduced, Squadron size the same, weapon hardpoints modified to follow rules.

Also, are you saying that I may increase the weapon count on the custom version if *I* do a dev thread and make it limited production, or whoever is modifying the custum version?

Yes if you would like to make it limited and do 10 posts if development You can. This would allow you 2 additional weapons systems.

As far as canon systems Just make a note Custom versions require their own submission. that way they can be judged independently. if nothing on them is restricted or beyond canon limitations they would not have to do the development for the 2 additional weapon systems since you already have.
 
I changed it so that any custom variant requires a separate submission. The point of the craft is to be mass produced and general purpose, so I have not done a development thread as you had previously suggested prior to this edit.

Is this acceptable now?
