GR Contract: G.U.I.D.E

Although I was not yet a member of the slowly forming committee on education I had gathered rumor that [member="Nick Sept"] was certainly looking to chair such a committee. I was hoping to curry some political points with him along with introducing a new government contract for an up and growing company.

I sat in my hover chair while reclined. I was perpendicular to the desk, a position I found most contemplative when considering matters of the state.
Reading through my data slate I sought to discern exactly the full potential of this service company.
I had a growing number of questions that I hoped to find answers for.

So I looked over to my small console and cast a message I had drafted. One to the owners of the company if they could respond to a holonet conference or perhaps meet in person. I also sent one to my colleague [member="Nick Sept"] as a means of giving some incentive to take the charge and show up either holonet or in person. Cartao though was almost a week away via hyperspace though. Unless he was on Chazwa then hell probably in the morning.

Either way I wanted to hear, question, and assess this company thoroughly.

I reclined a little further and awaited a response from whomever cared to join in the fun.

Since the very first Premiere Investor meeting nearly a year ago GUIDE had grown in leaps and bounds. Supplied now with ships, employ, protection detail, and more it succeeded in surprising and overwhelming even the ever-enthusiastic Founder and CEO; Magda. The growth was one thing, the public response quite another.

She was on Byblos at a large tech conference of a local company doing some research on the latest hardframe datapad devices to hit the market when, low and behold, a missive chimed through on her own.

"You shouldn't be so distracted, Miss Lethe," felacatian Beacon of Broadcast Captain Miet'Ra eyed the datapad in her lap.
"It's from the Republic," Magda blinked and further perused the message.
"Not that woman from before, I hope."
"No, it's the Senator of Carida. He wants to meet."
"Carida is a long way," replied the Captain, "best to keep the Beacon here at Byblos."
"It's also in the opposite direction of Ceto."
"You cannot be in two places at once, Miss Lethe."

Senator Flavian,
I am delighted to garner renewed interest from the Galactic Republic and would be most happy to arrange a meeting. My current agenda, however, will not allow to meet in person. If a holo-conference would suffice for you, it will for me. Please advise of a day and time convenient for you.

Sincerely,
Magdalena Lethe

Nick looked up from his desk as one of his staffers walked in. "Sir, we've got a message from Senator Flavian of Carida."

Nick nodded. He vaguely remembered the man. Well-meaning, former military, more than a little harsh, but the hard-working type. A bit anachronistic, but then again, this Senate had been less normal than one would expect of a government body. Of course, that was the tube-born cybernetically enhanced mutant pot calling the kettle black, but what could a fellow do? Well, except wear less black, but the senator of Cartao would never forsake his terrible sense of fashion--not at the beck of an entire army. Still, he looked through the message. Quite an interesting prospect. Digital educational technology. his reply was fairly quick.

I'm heading back towards Chazwa in a day's time to perform some office work. I'd be happy to join in on the conference, as workign in conjunction with this organization could prove immensely beneficial to republic infrastructure and education. I presume we are aiming to make an offer of investment in exchange for data, and possibly integration into the existing university system? I'd like to hear your thoughts before we meet Ms. Lethe, so as to get on the same page for specifics. Message the comm address, I'll answer any details or questions on the space routes while I'm researching this.

Happily yours,
Nick Sept of Cartao

Nick smiled and folded his hands. It'd take a day or two to get a reply, but it would be worth it.

// Senator Sept,
I appreciate the speedy response! I figured this was right up your alley in discerning the best use and integration of this company as part of the Republic's education system and further services. Unfortunately both myself and Magadalena Lethe will be unable to attend in person on Chazwa. For now a holoconference will work out best. I have far to many domestic affairs to attend too but I'm very interested on getting the ball rolling whether it is slow or fast on bringing in more economic opportunities for the Republic.
I'll set the time for three days from now around 0930 Galactic Standard Time?

Best Regards,
Caius Flavian,
Senator of Carida

Fantastic would three days from now at 0930 Galactic Standard Time work out into your schedule for a holo conference? I'm very much tied up in domestic affairs and thus would not have been able to attend a meeting in person myself. I have a number of projects that would be of interest to yourself and the company as a whole in documenting recent events in and around my constituency of Carida. More so I want to see if perhaps as a whole we can get G.U.I.D.E as a possible utility application in our university systems.

Sept read the message and steepled his fingers. In conjunctions with his plans for the university system, there was both profit and development to be made here. If he could convince them to set up a relay system, or even build a network of sorts between the universities, it could show some potential. However, he had to incentivize it--he couldn't just ask them to perform labor for free, even if they were contributing more to logistics than construction, which would likely be one of his own many duties here. He smirked. Gifts in kind, however, were useful to both parties. He quickly tapped out a reply.

Target: Caius Flavian, Office holo-address
Subject: GUIDE discussion

I believe we can turn this into an asset as well, both for the academic community and the work of this organization at large. Knowledge is power, and we can definitely trade in both with these folks. I understand the availability issues, but I'm fine with talking via holoconference--I look decent enough on recording. I'll set aside the time and reserve a holoconference room here, let me know if our third party needs a different time. Again, thanks for bringing this to my notice--good to see opportunities abound. Inform Ms. Lethe that I am interested primarily in digital distribution over physical, and will also be discussing a project of my own undertaking for possible integration. I've been working on a little something over the last month that relates directly to this, and I think some collaboration could broaden horizons, and frankly the breadth of knowledge could definitely have some interesting economic impacts as well, as long as we're willing to invest resources up front. I'll bring together the data by Friday.

Cheerily yours,
Nick Sept, Senator of Cartao

Nick sent the message with a grin. Between this and the UNR project, he could definitely develop something wonderful. Or, maybe his overly ambitious and cavalier scheming would blow up in his face. It was always hard to tell with this sort of thing.

Senator Flavian,
I have the time in my docket. I'm happy to discuss any ideas you might have to integrate GUIDE into use for the citizens of the Galactic Republic so long as they follow with GUIDE's moral code and overall mission statement. We can discuss in further detail at the meeting.

Sincerely,
Magdalena Lethe

OOC - Apologies for the wait. The last week has been very busy for me.

Three days would pass as we all went about our lives doing things and stuff while going places.

0928 Galactic Standard Time

I was back on New Valor Station in my office.

I had spent the last few days touring around the system making speeches and ramping up support for a new trade bill for our system that would help stimulate our economy.

During my trips I kept thinking about the many ways GUIDE would be of use to the Republic.

With a fresh mug of tea readied I opened the holoconference channel and awaited my guests to appear.

I made sure the setting for my holographic image to allow for visual use during our discussion.

I’ve been trying to show more face and so far it seems to be working in making inroads in developing relations.

OOC: Sorry, been a rough few days.

Nick nodded as his image appeared on hologram seated in a chair casually. The audio was slightly fuzzy. "Testing, testing. Hmmm....one moment." The image of him slammed his fist on something outside the projector's radius, a loud thud, and then both the image and audio came in slightly cleaner. "Sorry, using an out-of-date terminal." The folksy clone from Cartao continued cheerily onward. "Good to see you Caius, albeit not in person. I assume Ms. Lethe will be on shortly. Frankly, I can't wait to begin talking with the two of you. There's some good potential in this work," he said with a smirk. "If we're smart about it, we can definitely find some uses and application."

He sat thoughtfully. "Now, let's see what our colleague has to say?" He waited, smirking as he began fiddling with a datapad. Brunch at two. Meet with the educational council at four--possibly discuss the results of this meeting. Dinner at seven? No, he'd have to make it later. No way the educational council wouldn't spend half an hour asking him to sort through paperwork. Friggin' committee work. He tapped in a few other things, not agenda things, simply data packets he might want to upload to the holoconference quickly. "Oh, don't be surprised if my image changes, I may be using a few visual aids in our discussion."
