Faction Grand Jedi Ball - Open to Jedi + Jedi Sympathizers

The Grand Jedi Ball - Jedi Temple on Dantooine
The grand ballroom of the Dantooine Jedi Temple gleamed under a cascade of ethereal light. A tapestry of shimmering crystals hung from the vaulted ceilings, their glow casting gentle hues of violet, blue, and silver across the polished stone floors. Delicate lanterns, suspended in mid-air, swirled in soft patterns, illuminating the elegant gathering below with their warm, inviting glow. Garlands of blooming Dantooine flowers, their scent a blend of jasmine and sweet honeysuckle, draped across the columns and archways, adding to the temple's serene atmosphere.

Tonight, the temple was transformed into a sanctuary of unity, its purpose far greater than mere celebration. It was a gathering of purpose and hope, as Jedi from every corner of the galaxy had answered the call to join in the spirit of light and community. From distant worlds and hidden enclaves, they had come, bound by a shared vision of peace and strength, their elegant attire rustling softly against the hum of the lively, harmonious atmosphere.

The air hummed with quiet conversation and the gentle clink of glasses as Jedi mingled and exchanged stories, their voices filled with the wisdom of ages. This was no ordinary gathering; this was a call to the heart of the Order, to reignite the bonds that connected them all, no matter the distance or difference. The Dantooine Jedi Temple, long a symbol of knowledge and peace, now served as a beacon for the Jedi's collective spirit, where light, in all its forms, would shine brightest.

The ballroom was bathed in a soft, golden light as the music began to swell, a gentle, melodic waltz that seemed to float on the air like a dream. Jedi in elegant attire glided across the floor, their movements graceful and serene, as if in perfect harmony with the rhythm of the melody. The music, tender and soothing, filled the space with a sense of peace, each note resonating with the quiet power of connection. Partners moved effortlessly, lost in the beauty of the moment, as the dance wove them together in a shared experience of light and unity, their footsteps as soft as whispers on the cool marble floor.

Listen to the music, find a waiter for a drink, or enjoy a dance with another Jedi all in the name of light and prosperity.

In a quiet, circular hall within the Dantooine Jedi Temple, groups of Jedi gathered in a conference setting, their attire neatly arranged as they sat in focused clusters. The air was thick with anticipation, for this was no ordinary meeting, it was an opportunity for Jedi from various orders and traditions to come together and engage in an open, in-depth dialogue about the nature of the Force. Their perspectives varied, shaped by the diverse teachings of their respective organizations, yet the shared pursuit of understanding bound them together. Voices rose in thoughtful debate as Jedi from the well known, and other lesser-known factions expressed their philosophies, discussing the Force's balance, the dark side's allure, and the complexities of its dual nature. Some spoke of the importance of discipline and detachment, while others emphasized the Force's emotional connection to all living beings. The conversation flowed like the Force itself—dynamic, ever-changing, and full of insights as the Jedi explored the mysteries that had guided them for generations, seeking a deeper, more unified understanding of their shared power.

Meet Jedi with different views than yourself and discuss the nature of the Force and the role the Jedi should play in the galaxy.

MHyKKAC.png

Under the serene glow of Dantooine's twin moons, a group of Jedi gathered in a quiet clearing, their figures bathed in soft silver light. The air was still, save for the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant hum of wildlife, creating a perfect harmony between the Jedi and the natural world around them. In a shared moment of tranquility, they closed their eyes, allowing the Force to flow through them, connecting their minds and spirits in silent communion. The cool night air whispered across the grass as each Jedi sought a deeper connection with the Force, the moonlight reflecting off the rolling plains in a peaceful, almost otherworldly stillness. Surrounded by the vast beauty of Dantooine's untouched wilderness, they meditated together, allowing the serenity of nature to cleanse their minds and center their hearts, finding unity not only within the Force but with each other in this sacred, quiet moment.

Meditate with others from different paths and softly attune yourself to the outside. Take a walk around the grounds and enjoy the soft Dantooine evening.

The gathering was just getting underway by the time Gil arrived. He liked arriving early to things when he could, but crossing half the galaxy to get here had made timing a little difficult. He had decided to wear something more formal than usual to the gathering; a dark blue robe with simple white shirt and pants beneath. Very much different than his usual all brown and tan attire. Beyond the simple change in dress, this gathering was a special occasion for Gil in one other key factor. It was the first time he had left Naboo in recent weeks, his time almost entirely tied up with the efforts of the Shiraya Order.

But not was a chance to relax, mingle with Jedi he had never met or had not seen in sometime, and perhaps debate the finer points of the Force.

It was certainly going to be a good night.

He stood near the outskirts of the party for the moment, sipping at the drink that he had found on a nearby table. Even from across the room and in a chamber filled to the brim with drinks from across the known galaxy, Gil had smelled the Corellian Whiskey. The drink was refreshing as he sipped on it, gazing out at the wilderness surrounding the temple. Gil had never been to Dantooine, but he felt almost at home with the world. The presence of so many Jedi and the low, resounding strength of the Force all around him soothed his mind.

He took another sip of his drink, and turned to head back into the crowds. It was time to meet some people.

Kuhbee had never been to Dantooine and he was excited. This wasn't a surprise considering the young cub was easily excitable. The planet was so beautiful and the temple was so lit up and welcoming. Kuhbee decided to take a scroll outside towards a group of Jedi who looked like they might be meditating together. He did not want to disturb them but thought maybe in a bit he might join them.

First he wanted to walk out by the large lake that was by the temple. It was so peaceful and he could see the moons reflected in the shimmering surface. Kuhbee loved the outdoors so he felt as peace in his little moonlight stroll.

Reclining on a small pillow, Rani held a cup the size of a thimble in one hand, the other waving and gesturing for emphasis as she spoke.

"... And that's how I ended up captured and frozen in carbonite. Small world, eh?"

Masters Oukranos and Kassogtha Cthylla Kassogtha Cthylla sat across from her, listening with rapt attention. "I suppose so," Kass said, smiling. "I still can't believe you're here." She had assumed her old friend was long dead.

"I have a hard time believing it myself. I've outlived all my children..." Rani took a quick swig of her drink and changed the subject. "My memory of things before I was frozen are a bit fuzzy. But I seem to recall that tensions with the NJO were so high that many believed the Jedi were on the verge of a schism. Something to do with war crimes?"

"Oh, um..." Kass glanced at her husband. "That's not really... I mean, it's been many years since all that occurred. The leadership of the NJO has changed. The people responsible for those crimes have all either moved on or passed away."

"Their legacy lives on in the central ethos of the Lightsworn," Oukranos added. He studied Rani. "Do you know what happened to the Silvers?"

"I know Matsu Ike Matsu Ike took over and they left Kashyyyk." Rani spoke ruefully, not quite disapproving of Matsu's decision to move the Silver Rest elsewhere, but regretful that they had to leave her homeworld behind.

"Some of them, like Amani Serys Amani Serys , went on to found enclaves of their own." Oukranos leaned his elbows on the table and lowered his head until he was nearly at eye level with the little As-Aki. "We've been considering doing something similar on Pylos Satnik."

"Really?" Rani smiled over the rim of her cup. "You know, if every Master were to create their own Enclave, the galaxy would soon be filled with splintered Jedi factions. And how would we combat the Sith then?"

"By working together, of course," Kass said sincerely.

"You have more faith in our ability to see past our differences than I." Rani drained her cup. "But never mind all that. I think it's a wonderful idea. A Pylantian Jedi Enclave..."

The circular hall of the Dantooine Jedi Temple shimmered with an ethereal glow.. Roman stood at one of the elegant high-top tables, a glass of shimmering blue liquid in his hand. The air was perfumed with a subtle blend of exotic spices and the faint, sweet aroma of Dantooine wildflowers, a scent that tugged at a familiar comfort within him. Dantooine wasn't an unfamiliar world, a good portion of his childhood had been spent exploring its lush grasslands and attending events just like this, grand gatherings hosted by family friends.

Tonight, however, held a different allure. The night was packed with planned activities, but meditation, though a cornerstone of his training, held little appeal this evening. Dancing was out of the question, a certain someone unable to attend with him, leaving a quiet ache in his chest. So, he'd settled on this conference, a gathering of Jedi from various orders and traditions, a chance to delve into the heart of the Force itself.

The extravagant halls, typically reserved for celebrations and diplomatic gatherings, were now filled with Jedi in a spectrum of robes and attire. Roman, ever the curious soul, scanned the room, his gaze flitting from Jedi Master to Jedi Knight, hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar face or perhaps someone new, someone whose energy sparked an intriguing connection. He nibbled on a delicate hors d'oeuvre, the savory flavors a welcome distraction, and waited, eager to hear the diverse voices that would soon fill the hall, the varied perspectives on the Force that promised to illuminate his own understanding and challenge his preconceived notions. The prospect of meeting Jedi with different views was a thrilling challenge that appealed to the impressionable Padawan.

Jedi Master Starlin Rand wandered outside, his hands in his pockets. He observed the meditating Jedi from a distance, walking along the edge of the field, sensing their unity without joining in.

The girls were dancing in the ballroom, enjoying a night free from their training. Force knew they needed a break. Between Kyla's near-death during the invasion of Coruscant, and the murder of their mother at the hands of a Dark Jedi still at large, they'd been through plenty. As their master Starlin had tried to hone their messy emotions, turning their anger and grief toward something more productive. Something they could live with.

Most days he was barely functioning himself, but teaching them gave him purpose. It reminded him of his time training Eliphas, Makko Vyres Makko Vyres , and Ceri. Sometimes it reminded him of his own days as a Padawan under Syd Celsius Syd Celsius .

There had been a couple nights recently where he dreamed about her and Laertia. Rumors of civil war had reached him even aboard his isolated starship. He had been hiding out in the Senex sector, keeping a low profile. The dreams were full of death and destruction, planet-rending battles and the downfall of a civilization. The hubris of a leader. The decimation of a cult. Amidst it all he saw his master, with fiery red hair and eyes like sparks, taking the faces of their enemies into herself. Becoming them. He didn't know what it meant, but despite the violent imagery, he sensed it wasn't... bad. There was a glimmer of hope to be found in it. The transformation of evil into good. He hoped a path to redemption had opened to her after all the pain he had sensed in her before, no matter what form it came in.

Breathing in the cool night air, Starlin closed his eyes. It had been a long road getting to this point, and he wasn't without regrets. But things had a way of turning out okay in the end. Change was inevitable, yet the Force always found a balance. He was living in such a moment right now, where all things seemed to be in harmony regardless of the enemy at the gates or the pain he carried.

For all his mistakes and failures, Starlin Rand was on the right track.

What could persuade Eloise to leave her work behind for a night? It wasn't the lively discussion happening in the next room, that was for damned sure. If she'd wanted any of that, she'd join the debate club. Nor was it the chance to meditate on the grass outside. That sounded fething boring.

But dancing? Oh yeah. She could go for dancing.

Eloise strutted into the ballroom, her silver dress shimmering with every step she took. So far the place wasn't exactly popping, but that was fine with her. Hell, she didn't even mind the music they played. She had always danced to her own rhythm anyway.

Blue was the best colour, and he wouldn't hear any slander of the contrary.

Feeling right at home - particularly fitting given his birth here - a young, if anticipating Knight stepped with steady grace through the extravagent interior, the fresh scent of baked treats to keep the non-dancers occupied, wafted his nostrils. Adorned with a fitting navy blue attire, a suit with that matching long tie, neatly tucked in. A far cry os hif usual combat-oriented or dishevelled state.

Black boots progressed with care, Jack having little experience in eloquence, but he felt much more complete by his lightsabers hanging on the outward belt, ringing in harmony. The young Knight passed fellow Jedi a courteous nod, making himself known into the ballroom, and ceased by a couple of steps in, straightening his posture. Which was soon accompanied by inhaling the environment, the Force a dazzling lightshow of the Order and its allies' finest.

Nervous?

Understatement.

Social gatherings he avoided, but he was a Jedi, first and foremost, and he'd rise to the challenge... Maybe, hopefully. Probably?

Internally clapping both hands, Jack started with a brief search around the ballroom, walking around in aimless wander. Who knows, the Force might guide him for a potential fun time.

If he was fortunate enough, a date. Provided they didn't look too deep into his inwards wrecks of apprehension...

Aris took a breath. He looked over the dance hall, his green eyes searching. It was.. Odd, seeing so many Jed in one place just to dance. More often than not Jedi attended other events to actually join the dance, but- Those thoughts continued. Sorting out various events, the last one he'd been to, the fact he had asked Zaiya here with him. He was nervous. Very nervous.

They'd admitted their feelings for each other now, but what did that even mean? Was their relationship going to change? It would. Should, even, right? There were just so many thoughts rushing through his head. He fixed his cloak some, trying not to let himself be anymore nervous than he was. Yeah that wasn't working. How could he not be in his own head? Zaiya was his best friend! Well- were they something else now? Had they even tried to talk about that? No, just how they felt.

He crossed his arms over his chest, still searching around. Was he ready to see her? Did he look fine? Was the outfit he picked alright? It was classic Epicanthix, but maybe it was too much? Aris rubbed at the back of his neck. A smile did form after a moment. All these nerves, this embarrassment, he really did like her a lot huh?

"Hope you'll be here soon."

Inanna was here mostly as a chaperone. Some of the Padawans from the Vonnuvi Enclave had wanted to come to this little shindig, and she had the night off, so naturally the duty of minding the kids fell on her.

She had accepted the responsibility, though some part of her would've much rather spent the night with Cato Harth Cato Harth and her own children. They were growing so fast now, she was afraid she'd blink and they'd be adults. At least Cato didn't have any gray hairs yet...

Her golden eyes tracked the movement of the dancers on the floor. So far none of her charges had expressed any interest in joining the discussions or the meditation, which made keeping track of them easier. A few of them had brought dates, or were on the hunt for someone to pair up with. Inanna had deliberately dressed more conservatively (or as conservatively as she could bring herself to dress) to deter any potential suitors. Compared to the young man who had decided to show up shirtless, she might as well have been a nun.

He'd never looked so good. We'll, he'd also never dressed up before. Luckily, the proprietor of a mid-level Coruscant thrift shop helped him out. Diogo arrived at the ballroom in a double-pleated, cream colored vest and a crimson undershirt. Straight-legged navy pants hugged his hips perfectly. His green locks, usually scruffy, were as soft as ever.

Diogo swiped a glass as he sauntered past an unsuspecting waiter. The liquid inside was layered. Each layer was a distinct secondary color, the spirits within were separated by their densities. It was pretty. Fitting for an elegantly decorated Dantooine ballroom.

Diogo took a sip and wrinkled his nose as the top layer, a bright orange liquid, absorbed into his taste buds. It was good, but sweeter than he expected. Shrugging his shoulders, Diogo downed the rest of the drink, purple layer then green, and his stomach bloomed with warmth. He enjoyed his sweet treats as much as anyone. Doubly so, as the way he saw it, meeting his maker at the end of a glucose overdose seemed preferable to eventual insanity by Anzati hunger. He looked out over the dance floor and tried not to think about it.

The soft glow of the ballroom lights danced across the Dantooine Jedi Temple, but Valery Noble stood apart, her presence both commanding and serene. She held a delicate glass of berry juice in one hand, the crimson liquid mirroring the color of her dress — a stunning, form-fitting piece that seemed to reflect the evening's atmosphere.

The high neckline of the crimson gown framed her graceful posture, its sleeveless design baring her toned arms with effortless confidence. Gold trim wove along the neckline and down the sides, catching the light with every subtle movement. The dramatic slit on one side added an air of boldness, the fabric flowing like liquid silk around her as she moved. It was a dress that embraced both refinement and allure, perfectly mirroring the blend of strength and poise that defined her.

Valery's dark hair was swept into an elegant ponytail, though a few loose strands framed her face, softening her sharp amber eyes. She leaned lightly against the edge of a polished railing, her gaze sweeping over the ballroom. The other Jedi mingled and danced, their elegant attire swirling in time with the gentle melody of the waltz filling the air. Yet despite the energy and movement around her, she seemed content to observe, her solitude an anchor of calm amidst the lively scene.

She took a small sip of her juice, her lips curving into a faint smile as she watched Jedi from all walks of life — scholars, warriors, and healers alike — come together in unity. This wasn't just a gathering of formality; it was a celebration of connection, of purpose, and of hope.

A subtle warmth spread through her at the sight.

You just worry about whether he likes how you tie up your hair...

Master Iris Arani Iris Arani 's words from their last training trip seemed to echo in the back of Zaiya's mind, so much so that she had paid particular attention to decorating her hair today. Instead of braiding it or leaving it loose, Zaiya spent an hour or so on the holo-net looking over cute updo styles that she could try something new for the Jedi Ball.

After numerous iterations and a whole afternoon dedicated to the task, the Lovalla teenager finally settled on a cute hairstyle. It was a delicate blend of Nabooian braids and a graceful updo adorned with golden filigree flowers. The style left her neck bare, with wisps of bangs framing her face that tickled her cheeks every time she moved.

It complemented the white gossamer dress that flowed around her willowy figure. Transparent sleeves were designed to showcase her color shifting and bioluminescence in a flattering manner. Adorned with gold accents and filigree jewelry, it was a modest dress with a touch of Epicanthix elegance. She even dared to wear heels, so she had to make sure she wouldn't trip. She was determined not to let Aris tease her about being unable to keep her balance!

With a small whoosh, Zaiya exhaled, a hot puff of air flowing through her lips as she stepped inside the venue. She was very excited to meet Aris here -- it was the first time they had time to socialize like this since Hapes, and now things were different. Back then she had been uncertain about her feelings and how he felt too, but now Zaiya knew that Aris liked her just as she liked him.

There were still a lot of questions up in the air, but they said they would both work it through. With everything going on, they didn't get a chance to really discuss things... and maybe that was okay?

Then again, Iris made her wonder about more things, especially that rather embarrassing conversation. Did Aris also think about those things?

Okay, no, no, just focus on the now and have fun, Zaiya, she told herself, walking forward. A staircase would lead down towards the atrium. She'd sense Aris before she saw him, feeling his presence through the Force like a warm, gentle breeze. At the top of the stairs, she saw him, adjusting his cloak and looking a little nervous -- others might not see it, and he might look the figure of stoic pensiveness, but she could sense it. It made her smile.

"Aris!" She called out, giving a slight wave towards his direction. Ever so carefully she came down the stairs, moving to close the distance until she was finally in front of him. The heels gave her a little more height, bringing her closer to him than before. She was shimmering again, all pretty, mesmerizing pastel pinks, blues, and excited gold-flecked bioluminescence that seemed to ebb and flow like ocean waves.

Staring up at him, she gave him a nervous, if sheepish smile, "Hey... This place is big!"

Okay, silly thing to say. Try again.

"YOu look really handsome!" she blurted out, recognizing that he was wearing Epicanthix-style clothing for the event -- just that, oh, wait, he wasn't wearing anything over his torso like last time under his cloak. Not any different sometimes when he was training but -- Don't stare... don't... stare! She told herself.

No matter how much she wanted to!

The glow of Dantooine's twin moons lit up the night. They illuminated the caliginous sky, making it seem like a soft, velvety fabric Mica could reach out and touch.

Yeah, the best things came in pairs. She thought of Fyrin. She softly sighed and stuffed her hands into the worn-out pockets of her synthleather jacket.

Mica protracted her Balosarian antennapalps and received the softened music from the distant ballroom. She hummed the waltzes in her head. Some fast, some slow. Mica had frustratingly given up on meditating. She hated silence. Always had. She sat just outside the clearing and looked up at those two bright moons. Their light danced as clouds floated by.

She'd return to meditating. She'd try. She just needed a minute.

Pulling up was a speeder, very nondescript, very soft and relaxing in appearance to the Dantooine Temple. Of course the facility was set up for a grand experience that was the Ball that was being held this evening. This was not the only speeder to pull up, as many Jedi were stepping out of them, all dressed to the nines on a rare night that they could enjoy themselves and worry less about the concerns of the galaxy and just experience a nice evening.

That speeder? A door opened and out stepped an enormous Jedi in a well tailored suit. If his size, if his build was not already enough recognition, the stoic look he gave those who approached him was more than enough reminder of just who it was. That look did not last long though as he flashed a “million credit smile” to those around. This was not some “red carpet affair” but a night like tonight was for celebration, and to make a point to those in attendance. He was here to show that the Jedi Order was still a force to be reckoned with, and that any challenge would be met with strength and resolve. They resolve to enjoy themselves tonight.

Of course those who approached the passenger door were waved off by the big man who opened it himself. This was his wife after all.

Taking her by the hand as they walked in the main doors, acknowledging people they knew and did not know as they walked in, coming to the Dance Floor. He was determined to show that even in the face of adversity, the Jedi Order could still find joy in the simplest of moments. He reminded them that no matter what the odds, they could still stand tall and strong. He was showing them the power of hope. Of course he was no dancer but that did not stop them for a few songs.

Afterward Caltin had seen a few that he wanted to chat with for a moment or two, and Chrysa wanted to go say hi to a few friends. A quick pec and they walked in their own directions for the, Caltin even doing the “Shooting fingers” and a smiley wink to Valery Noble Valery Noble as he walked on. Tycho wasn't exactly a Jedi. He was a light side aligned individual who worked often with Jedi, though. And he had been told, by several others, that it would do him good to get out of the office and do something different for a chance. They were probably right. Most of his life was spent working. The other bit that wasn't was usually when he was spending time with Anneliese Kaohal Anneliese Kaohal , training her or just chatting like a father and daughter should do. That had been less frequent of late because she was very busy with her Jedi studies, so he rarely did anything but work.

So, by order of his fellow Sentinels, he'd decided to go to the Jedi ball on Dantooine. He'd never been there, anyway, so might as well see what it was like. He walked in with his white hair done up as it normally was: pulled back behind his head. A three piece black suit with white shirt was his clothing of choice. It felt oddly stiff. Shouldn't have felt stiff at all considering he wore a uniform all the time. This was actually mostly the same.

He straightened the cuff on his jacket before snagging a drink from a passing server. The long stemmed glass was full of something clear that smelled of wildflowers, but when he tasted it, had that gentle burn like muted fire. It was actually quite pleasant. He surveyed the hall, but most of the faces he noticed were those of people he did not know. In fact, the only person he did was Valery Noble Valery Noble . Everyone else was an unfamiliar face to him. He'd probably say hi to her eventually, but for the moment he was content to stay on the edges, watching and listening to the music.

Little bit work like, he kept his eyes out for trouble, but at least he was enjoying himself while doing it.

"I don't think I've seen this one on you yet."

Kahlil stepped beside his wife, smiling down to her as he gently set a hand on her waist to pull her closer. Let his hand rest on her belly. The bump hadn't formed yet, but soon, he knew. It was part of the reason they'd come here after all, one last chance to break out the new outfits he'd bought her before she couldn't wear them for several months.

They did love these places, after all. And for once, this party wasn't going to be filled with people who hated or distrusted the Jedi hoping to bait their responses. Just a night to enjoy.

Though, his gaze shifted to Aris. There was only one other time he knew of him asking for help with an outfit. The last time it was for Zaiya and- Ah. He chuckled softly, gently pulling Valery with him. "Come on. The conference is up a floor. I think it'd be good for us to speak with the others." He kissed her cheek before sort of leading her.

"We don't want to embarrass Aris too much, after all."

Valery's smile widened as Kahlil stepped beside her, his familiar warmth pulling her effortlessly from her quiet observations of the ballroom. His hand settled on her waist, drawing her closer, and she leaned into him instinctively, her amber eyes lifting to meet his.

"Yeah? You like it?" she asked, her tone playful but touched with genuine curiosity.

It wasn't often she dressed like this, but tonight was special. The soft crimson silk, the gold accents, the way it all came together — it wasn't just for her. Knowing Kahlil noticed and appreciated it made it all the more worth it.

Her hand covered his as it rested near her stomach, a gentle gesture that reflected the affection she felt for him. The way he centered her in a room filled with swirling activity, the way he effortlessly made her feel seen and cherished — these moments reminded her why nights like this weren't half as fun without him by her side.

"You know," she said softly, her gaze flicking over his features before settling on his eyes, "I'm glad you're here with me. It wouldn't feel the same without you." Her voice carried the warmth of her feelings for him, unguarded and honest.

The kiss he pressed to her cheek sent a quiet ripple of happiness through her, and Valery wrapped herself around his arm, holding him close as they turned toward the steps. "Meeting with people sounds like a good idea," she said, her tone lighter now. "Lead the way, love."

This was more her speed. It was not a place full of uppity stuffy aristocratic types. These were her people. These were Jedi and those close enough that she may as well call them such. Compared to recent large events, Ala felt a thousand times more comfortable here. It was for that reason that she had been the first on the dance floor and was still going strong.

She felt another tap on her shoulder, the fifth such interruption of the night. It was Master Varrah on this occasion. Ala's eyes lit up upon seeing the aged archivist. He was the grandfatherly type, and Ala felt an instant smile cross her face. "May...I please have this next dance?" Said the Varrah. Varrah had wrinkles in all the places that made him look distinguished, and none in the place that made him look eternally worried. He had grown old well.

Ala beamed, and bowed. She turned her head to her previous dance partner, a Shadow with whom she had worked a few recent operations. "Thank you, Devey. I will see you on Ottabesk, yes?" She said with a slight tip of her head to the handsome young Jedi. She was sure he was trying his hand at making a move. For his part, he had been quite suave, and Ala had been more than flattered. She certainly would turn down a second dance if he were to ask later.

"Ottabesk? Oh yes...I am assigned to that mission...see you in a few days," he said, looking slightly dejected. Ala instantly wondered if she should be sending out better queues to would be suitors. Maybe she needed to get more advice from Valery Noble Valery Noble .

She watched with a little sadness as Devey walked away, but then turned to her new dance partner. Her smile returned, along with the sparkle in her eyes. Master Varrah look so incredibly pleased with himself. He was much shorter than she, which was already quite the achievement. He had said it was something to do with the near-human race from which his father had descended.

"My...Master Quin...you do look stunning this evening," he said. His manner was not even in the slightest unpleasant nor unwelcome. It was almost like being complemented by your own beloved grandfather.

Her dress did not hug, but rather seemed to hang from each curve on her body. The silver material glittered and shone as it seemed to cascade down her form in a way more akin to a waterfall than a garment. When she moved, it made a slight rustling sound like a gentle breeze blowing through a new canopy of trees. She had wondered if the neckline might have been too revealing, but several advisors had practically insisted she wear it.

"Thank you, Varrah," she said, taking his hands as he led her into the sway of the music.

"You seem to have garnered a lot of willing dance partners this evening," he said in a hushed, almost conspiratorial tone.

Ala smirked, and raised an eyebrow. "Present company included," she said.

Varrah blushed deeply and looked away. "You pity this old foolish man, I am long past his prime. Even then...I should have been so lucky to catch the eye of a flower such as yourself."

It was Ala's turn to blush. She looked over his head and into the crowd. There were some faces that she recognised, but one pale stranger stood out. Her brow furrowed. She guessed that Tycho Arak Tycho Arak 's presence here confirmed a few things she had been wondering about. "A flower that none has picked...I am afraid," she said, mind wandering to her recent rejection by Kaila Irons Kaila Irons .

"Nonsense. The many requests you have received tonight are testament to the fact that people are curious...and open," he said, fatherly advice pouring from him like a fount, "perhaps it is you who should pursue...do not fear failure my dear...happiness awaits if you dear to claim it."

She tilted her head back in faux-exasperation. He was probably right, but it didn't feel likely. Search your feelings, right?

"No more wisdom, Varrah...just dance with me," Ala said, eyes pleading for him to relent.

"As you wish...Ala."
