Great Balls of Fire

Planet: Lothal
Location: A remote spaceport

Lothal was one of the more developed planets in the outer rim. Mostly prairie land and Savannah it was a good place for farming food. A few of the smaller towns even had the beginnings of spaceports popping up. Basically just a glorified hub of landing pads for ships, so shipments of grain could get off-world faster.

As he often did Sol had wandered far from the main hubs of civilization and out into the wilds of the countryside. He'd spent several days poking around the area on a rented speeder and after returning it he'd come to this small town. It was a pleasant sleepy little place where the most exciting thing to happen most days was when a transport arrived to pick up a shipment.

Sol was waiting for one such transport near the spaceport. He lazing against a wall post his back given some cushioning by his bag, his legs splayed out before him. If he had a hat it'd be tipped down to shade his eyes. As it was he had to deal with the sun in his face. Still, worse things in the world than that. Hopefully, the transport would arrive soon and he'd be able to negotiate transport off planet.

Skyler had decided to do some exploring and had found herself on the lone planet of Lothal by some tricky means of stowing away as well as sometimes flirting her way to places. Finally she had found some peace and quiet on the planet of Lothal; with all the craziness that had been going on lately and all the emotions around her with her Empathic abilities she had hardly been able to sleep with all the emotions.

Once she arrived on the planet she had finally found peace with the emotions and found sleep. On this beautiful morning the fiery haired shorty decided to go for a walk, she was so short that everyone towered over her; to be exact she was 4'9". She would stroll through the city (if you could even call it that) she was at peace.

Once she reached the spaceport she felt something off and suddenly she would reach for her concealed sabers

The only warning before it starts is the whining of a fighters engine in atmosphere. It was not an unfamiliar noise in the small town the transports that came to pick up grain made similar noises. However, there was a slight difference. Sol hears it and comes to his feet instantly. His eyes going to the sky looking for... Oh no. He was starting to wonder if he was just a magnet for this kind of karking crap.

As if in affirmation of this the first bomb impacts with the ground, reducing a building to rubble and sending a plume of fire into the air. Without a thought he sprints towards the spaceport. Like most, it was equipped with some autoturrets ones that likely haven't been used ever and may not even be loaded. However, he didn't have a better way to deal with fighters than that.

Speed was key in this situation and everything seems to slow down as The Force thrums through him. He can see two other fighters approaching one is heading right for the spaceport. He watches as the glowing blue ion orb drops from the bottom and he reaches out and pushes. He manages to send it just far enough off course that the spaceport only has one small wall blown away, the tower with the turrets still standing. Hopefully he could make it before the next run, it was hard considering people were getting in his way as they started to panic.

As the first bomb impacted the ground Skyler would leap away from it, she could see another man running for a starfighter; she wasn't needed there, she knew what she must do as she saw other people burning or running around like cockroaches when you turn the light on. She would very quickly realize that the other man was supposed to be the hero today, for she was needed else where. She would quickly move and get up high, she would use her voice to guide people away from the wreckage while also sending out calm vibes through the force

Hitting the base of one of the towers he skips the ladder with a single powerful Force jump. Landing at the top he finds the body of one of the towns cops, a piece of shrapnel buried in the man's chest. Damn. He'd feel bad for the man who tried to play hero later, for now, he needed to focus. Clambering into the turret control seat he boots it up and cheeks the ammo levels. It only had about ten percent power, that was bad.

In the distance he can hear the sound of the starfighters approaching once more and he turns the turret slowly towards them. "Come on, come on." He growls as the old, disused rotor in the base slowly ground to life. He is finally in firing position just as he sees what he is facing. A trio of beat up old Y-Wings that looked like they might have been from the rebellion. Just what was going on?

Again a question for later.

Take a long deep breath he slowly takes his target and... The cacophonous roar of the heavy turret blares out across the town. Sol's first shot hits the cockpit of the lead bomber and it erupts into a ball of flame careening to the ground outside of town. As the other two start to react, adopting a defensive flight pattern, he fires his second shot impacting one of the engines on the side sending that one spiralling towards the ground.

The final one comes roaring towards him and he manages to fire the last shot before it opens up with its blasters. His hits home but so does the shots of the Y-wing. The foundation of the tower begins to shake and crack. "Oh, kark." He says as he realizes the damn thing is about to collapse.

Skyler was extremely strong in the force, this was one of the reasons the Jedi could fathom for her Empathic abilities, she would see the Y-wing getting hit and beginning to spiral down towards her and she would lift her hands and focus on the force; she would just barely be able to deflect the starfighter

The tower is crashing down towards a nearby building and Sol hopes that there is no one inside. He leaps from the tower as it hits a near forty-five-degree angle with the ground. Propelled by The Force he flies and lands on top of the slanted roof. He hits hard and tiles go skittering down as he begins to slide down. In a panic he tries to get his feet under him because a second later the building shakes. The tower smashing down against the side of the roof Sol wasn't on. The structure of the building wouldn't hold up long after such a blow and at the last second he gets his feet under him.

Another Force jump sends him flying to the other nearby roof but he undershoots it. He blows into the wall just under the edge of the roof. His hands scrambling to grab the lip as his feet desperately seek purchase against the wall. His shoulder burns from the impact and a second later he is falling down towards the ground. Throwing out his hands he creates a cushion with The Force. It mutes the impact somewhat from the three-story drop but the wind is still driven from his lungs. His breath comes out in a greatly pained wheeze and he groans. That hurt.

Ignoring the pain he forces himself to his feet. He can't imagine that it is just the three ships that are attacking. He'd seen the markings on one of the ships and knew what this was. There were likely slavers approaching right now on the ground, seeking to take advantage of the panic too easily subdue the town's population. The people of this town would be herded like cattle, rounded up into pens and sold if he did nothing. But he wasn't going to do nothing.
