Manufacturer: The Diarchy
Market Status: Closed Market
Production: Limited
Weight: Heavy
DESCRIPTION
This armor is meant to simplify armor design while keeping its protective value. The concept being that instead of having a whole bunch of really well made pieces to protect several parts of the body, why not just have three or four really good pieces to protect the whole body. The biggest feature of this armor is it's pauldrons, which are asymmetrical. The offhand shoulder plate, the one opposite the dominant eye, or the one being presented to the opponent when firing a two-handed ranged weapon, is significantly larger than the other one, almost comically so. Reaching down past the elbow and out in front of the chest and behind the shoulder in a large square, this shoulder plate behaves more like a shield than an actual shoulder pad. providing most of the upper torso with cover from the front when firing, while keeping both hands free to operate a weapon. This is also useful in melee as the shoulder plate can be presented towards the enemy in the same way as when engaging at a distance, though is less effective than a handheld shield would be. Similarly the non-dominant side is more armored than the other, providing asymmetrical protection where needed to maintain protective value while cutting back on unneeded bulk and complexity.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Powered. This armor is powered to provide greater protection against energy sources such as blaster bolts and lightsabers
STRENGTHS
  • Directional protection. The Groß-Schulter armor is asymmetrical, providing incredible protection in the direction it is oriented. When facing this armor head-on there are scarcely any openings to take advantage of.
WEAKNESSES
  • Directional protection. The armor's asymmetrical nature makes it nigh impenetrable... from the front. the other side is covered in minimal armor, enough to prevent the puncture of the suit underneath by debris, and little else. It wouldn't stop anything beyond a mundane combat knife, and is not covering near as much of the body as the other side.
