Ground Combat Test Skirmish

I will take any single combatant to utilize Draco Vereen's ground combat forces system coupled with my own particular writing style that utilizes Hex maps in order to test Draco's system.

That's the terrain.

==Each Hex represents 5 kilometers.

==Numbering begins at the TOP - LEFT Hex (00.00) and continues DOWN and to the RIGHT.

==No half hexes are counted (those ones at the bottom), only full hexes.

Icons:

==Single Turret: Observatory post. Light fortification, limited supplies, no reinforcements.

==Single Archway: Medium fortification. Can provide resources and reinforcements of single units only.

==Double Turret: Large fortification. Main base of operations. This is where the MAIN force heads out from.

==The Double Turret is the only location you can start in. All maneuvers to alternate locations must take place after leaving from the main base.

==Anchor: This is a location where water maneuvers can be easily begun and ended (within 1 post). All other locations will take two posts.

==Artillery: Available for capture and use. Medium sized artillery with a 20 kilometer range.

==Tank: Random icon, accidental, couldn't remove. Ignore.

==Note on equipment and forces: Equipment and forces MUST be listed in primary post. Nothing added afterwords will be allowed. You can store as much equipment as you want at your main base, but you can only take so much of it with you at a time. This means management of your equipment and loading plans must be given great attention. You don't want to leave all your ammunition behind because you had your eye on all the food!
As you can probably tell, these posts are going to require detail and attention. They'll be long. But that's the point. This is a test run, I want to see if we can get our bang for our buck.

Everything is fair game.

Aside from Draco's guidelines, there will be no strict limitations of equipment. If you want to bring 1,000 claymore mines, that's fine, but you can only pack a certain amount at a time in a vehicle along with ammunition, troops and food. If you try to pack 1,000 mines inside a personnel carrier, and then pile your soldiers into it, I'm going to cry foul. That's how this works: We check EACH OTHER, relying on Vereen's guidelines as just that; Guidelines.

==Maneuvering and targeting/firing will NOT be allowed within the same post. Considering they take place within different timeframes (maneuvering is slow, firing happens very quickly), it's easy for writers to maneuver around/passed fired munitions in their own posts.

==Writers will have to maneuver + identify their targets in post 1, and then adjust + fire at their enemies in post 2.

==Aside from the guidelines in this post, Draco Vereen's forces composition guidelines and ideas are the only ones (outside the site rules) that apply.

==Any other changes, alterations, or otherwise will be accounted for during the battle by both parties involved. Basically, if you have a suggestion or complaint, let the other person know!

Conditions of victory:

Complete destruction of enemy fighting forces / Surrender of one force to another.

OTHER NOTES:

=Vehicles come with their compliment forces. For instance, an AT-TE walker can house 30 troops, therefore you will receive 30 infantry troops on top of the crew allotments.

=All approved tech is allowed, as long as it is appropriate for the fighting environment. (i.e. No Star Destroyers hovering above the battlefield)

==You are designing an ARMY. Not just a bunch of guys with guns, a MILITARY FORCE. All factors must be considered: Grenades, tanks, anti-aircraft weaponry, food, body armor, communications gear. Basically, if you're going to need it, you better list it.

=Vehicles and personnel MUST be written appropriate to their environment. If you try to field a main battle tank in the middle of a swamp, you're going to suffer extreme penalties to speed and maneuverability. This means that when an enemy launches an anti-tank missile at your vehicle, you're NOT going to be able to drive out of its way.
**Exceptions are allowed for repulsor vehicles in swampy areas, or other practical applications such as walkers traversing terrain too rough for tracked vehicles.

=Range: Don't be silly. Google maximum ranges of real world technologies if you're considering taking a shot but think it might be a bit far. If need be, we can rescale the battlefield. (5 kilometers per Hex may prove too large). But if you think you might be stretching things a bit, you probably are, and should consult the other writer.

==DETAIL: Detail is CRUCIAL. Someone who says "I fire at you," will be beaten out by someone who writes "I squeeze and hold the trigger as the red circle of my weapon optic falls onto your torso," every time.
This is a game, yes, but we're also writing a story. Feel free to work in character development, talk about your equipment, your troops, your intentions.

==Let me know if you think of anything to add!

First challenger gets the worm.

==Final Note on designing armies:

Keep in mind that size does matter. Sometimes that size is small, sometimes it's large. This fight calls for a moderate sized force, with armor (tank) elements forming the tip of the spear and other elements existing to support your armor units.

Ultimately: Balance is key, and the ability to react to as many different possibilities as you can will determine victory or defeat.

However, the larger of a force you design, the more detail will be required of you to maintain it throughout the battle. NO UNIT GIVES OR TAKES ACTION THAT HAS NOT BEEN WRITTEN IN DETAIL.

What that means is this: Just because you have elements LISTED as being on the battlefield, only elements you actively write are eligible for engagement. If you don't write a word about the guards you originally posted, I'm free to just walk right passed them and into your base.

This battle is going to be no joke, and it's intended to go on for quite some time. No quitting, no backing out. This is for the future of RP battle-writing. lol
