- I do need to see your identification - Resistance against mind tricks by opponents with Apprentice and Knight levels of training and skill. Protects the wearer's mind from being read, probed, or tricked with illusions.
- Unmovable - Resistance against telekinetic attacks from opponents with Apprentice levels of training and skill. Attackers cannot use the Force to push, pull, or knock down the wearer.
- Always on - The protection offered by the ring only applies to the wearer and ceases if the ring is removed.
- We’ve lost shields - The ring offers zero protection against physical attacks (kinetic, blasters, lightsabers, melee) and is most useful in non-combat situations.
- Intentionally weakened - During forging the ring was intentionally not alchemised to its full potential. Highly skilled and experienced Force users can piece the protection offered by the ring and subject the wearer to mind tricks and telekinetic attacks.
- I sense a presence - The ring creates a small void in the Force around the finger on which it is worn which can be detected by skilled Force users.
Guarantor, originally named Skystas Rieve iv Tave Daboti Dvasi (Sith: ‘Lesser Ring of the Protected Mind’), was awarded to Aerarii Tithe for his service to the Sith Empire during the Invasion of Kintan and the Defence of Mandalore. Despite being a non-Sith non-combatant in a culture that worships the Dark Side and violence, Aerarii proved himself in both battles as a capable, cunning and quick thinking Sith-Imperial Banking Clan official.
The ring was forged by Dorniarn Foundry Works and alchemised by Telis Taharin-Zambrano , who Aerarii helped save on Mandalore. While the Sith commissioned the ring to recognise his contribution, they do not give their unwavering trust so easily. The ring was intentionally left weakened during alchemy, allowing powerful Force users to bypass its protection and use their powers on Tithe. The promise of a much more powerful relic with greater resistances was used as an incentive to maintain his loyalty.
The ruse failed, and Tithe betrayed the Sith during the Battle of Bastion and fled to the Core, where he joined the Galactic Alliance as the Senator for his homeworld of Aargau and was later elevated to Vice Chancellor. The New Jedi Order, concerned that the Sith alchemy on the ring could be used to influence Tithe, implored him to have the alchemised jewellery reformed. The task eventually fell to Auteme , who unwove the Sith spells and placed Lightside protections on the object. Tithe took the opportunity to rechristen the ring Guarantor, drawing on the Aargauun tradition of naming items after financial terminology to ring good luck and prosperity.
The ring provides Tithe with high protection against mind tricks and moderate protection against telekinetic attacks. To those trying to use their powers against him, it feels as though Aerarii is smoke - visible but impossible to grasp. Attackers can still feel his presence in the Force (which a notable absence of the finger on which the ring is worn), however, they cannot touch his mind or physically move him using the Force.
