Strengths:
  • The Guardian features significant anti-corvette and anti-frigate firepower that can be focused onto a single spot to speed up the collapse of an enemy's shields and the penetration of an enemy's hull.
Weaknesses:
  • If the turret is destroyed, the Guardian cannot focus enough firepower to easily overwhelm an enemy ship of corvette or frigate size. In fact, it more than likely would lose in a long term engagement to another frigate assuming its turret has been destroyed.
Description: Guardian assault monitors were intended as a replacement for the then-aging Rampant-class Assailant Monitor used by the Sith Empire. It was originally designed almost exclusively as an anti-corvette ship - the intent was for Guardians to travel with bomber wings and eliminate anti-fighter picket corvettes in order to minimize small ship losses on runs against larger warships. When the Sith Empire fragmented, the Guardian was relegated primarily to a secondary role, as the New Order reorganized its former Sith fleet around defensive lines. Some Guardians would continue to solder on over the decades as pirate vessels, preying on civilian shipping in what was formerly Sith space. With an inability to fit the anti-capital beam weaponry of more contemporary ships, the Guardian has been relegated for sale to the open market. Time will tell whether the ship finds a dedicated buyer.
