Queen of Alderaan
[member="Mantic Dorn"] - additional changes for this, wording, and new process for the opening thread. Please review and replace existing.
Step 1: Think of a law that should be created. Draw up the terms and put it in a number-listed form that is easy for everyone to read. Posting inside a quote box ( [ quote] Words go here... [/quote] ) is highly appreciated.
Example
Step 2: Think of a name for your bill. Use that for a thread title.
Step 3: Write up a thread, which includes a poll for yes, no or abstain with your senator proposing your bill, and include the bill (see Step 1) at the end of your post.
Step 4: @mention all the senators listed on the Senate Roster.
Step 5: The Supreme Chancellor will open the floor to the Senate, and then we will let the politics begin!
Step 6: The senators will be given 1 week to have open debate over the bill and make adjustments to the draft. After this period is over, the Supreme Chancellor will signal that it is time to vote!
Step 7: Vote! You may add a closing argument to your point in the debates, but you must vote or you will still be considered absent in the final tally.
After the second week of the bill proposal thread, all votes shall be tallied by the Supreme Chancellor, and the bill will be confirmed as ratified or denied.
People don't like your bill? It's alright to simply drop it. No need to take offense over the other senators' opinions! Remember, it is roleplay.
But this doesn't have to be the end! Consider appealing to the other senators to provide suggestions to alter the bill to something more people can agree on. Change your bill terms in the thread and post the revised bill each time you do so. Your bill is not dead until you let it be!
