Biography
Warriors were so common among the Korunnai race. The primitiveness of his race disgusted Guldan, a man who wished to learn, to become a being of higher intelligence, a man who was held back by the wars and combats of his race. Guldan, too, was looked down upon by his more battle-hardened kin for his avid research and study of the force. Though never trained, Guldan understood his race's connection to this mystical power, and wished to use if for more than just taming animals.
The man's ambition, however, would soon lead to a near-death experience. And following that, his ascension.
"Guldan, were are you going"
A tall, muscular man in simple garbs stood behind Guldan, his face shrewd and questioning. Guldan turned to face this man, and recognized one of his childhood friends, Anvai.
"I am looking for something. It does not concern you."
Guldan's words were harsh, but in his own opinion, true. And of course, speaking the truth was important in Korunnai culture.
"We are in the same tribe. Comrades. It does concern me."
At that moment, Guldan understood that his friend would not be shooed away. He would have to witness what Guldan had found.
"Come then. If either of us survive...you may tell our brothers what has been occupying me for so long."
And so, the two Korunnai set off. Their strides were brisk, and the pair shared no words as they journeyed through the thick jungles of Haruun Kal. The path they took was not familiar to Anvai, but Guldan recognized it like the back of his palm. There were also several signs which dictated that the pair grew closer to their destination. Signs of combat. Many of the trees were damaged, and some dead animals were scattered around.
"Have the enemy tribes been here?"
Guldan suppressed a chuckle, not even turning to face his companion. Through a sly grin, he spoke softly.
"Worse than that brother. Worse than that."
Before Anvai had a chance to express his suspicion, a spine-chilling noise echoed through the green jungles. It was not a roar or howl. It didn't even sound like an animal. It was a low-rumbling noise, emotionless, but emitting danger.
"Guldan..."
"Are you afraid, Anvai? You asked to come here, so I suggest we continue. You can run after you've seen it."
"It?"
This time, Guldan could not help but laugh.
After a few minutes of travelling, a dark cave began to loom over the pair, casting a blanket of darkness over them. Guldan continued pacing forward, but Anvai stopped dead in his tracks.
"What is inside here?"
"Something beyond your wildest imagination."
Guldan's voice was giddy, like that of a little girl unwrapping her Christmas present. But Anvai was not focusing on that. He stared, wide-eyed, at an immense being standing within the cave. It was hard to see, but from what the Korun could make out, it was insect-like armoured in a powerful shell.
"What have you been doing here?"
Guldan turned, his face loosing all giddiness, replacing it with a serious expression. "All I have done is watch, inspect. Learn. This creature is connected to the force, even more so than us, Anvai. Neither of us can tame it. It is special."
"It is a monster. We are leaving. The elders will deal with it."
The beast struck. It must have sensed Anvai's fear, or so Guldan assumed. He had learnt that the creature was blind, yet it's senses seemed pin-point. And it was fast, too. Before Anvai could react, it leapt, landing right in front of the Korun. Unarmed, the man tried to back away, but was impaled by a stinger. His body went limp, dropping to the floor. Guldan stared, fear starting to spread over him. He never expected the creature to attack. It had never noticed him before. But more than that, he felt a darkness. The monster radiated Dark Side energy, instilling fear in the young Korun.
Guldan tried to run, but was truck by the beast's tail. Bones cracked, his body burning in pain as he flew back striking a tree. No longer able to stay conscious, Guldan's eyes fluttered shut, covering his vision in darkness. The last thing he remembered was a flash of blue light, and a low hum.
Guldan had been saved by a Jedi. In need of medical attention, the jedi had taken him back to the order, and healed him. He had kept his knowledge of the beast a secret from the jedi, afraid of what they may do to him. He would, however, never forget it's power. He knew not whether it was still alive, but if it had died, Guldan would have to find another. He had yet to complete his studying, after all.
But that came later. For now, he would have to train. Train to fight as a Jedi.
