The gulp droid was created to be an easy, compact solution to keeping homes and businesses clean. Inspired by the requested modification of her tanuki droids for The Star Lounge, Yula engineered a simple sanitation droid designed to liquefy organic and certain non-organic materials. Unlike the tanuki droids, the gulp droid dutifully performs its tasks and is generally non-aggressive, making it more ideal for household settings.
In essence, the gulp droid is a modified sanitation droid. Inside its body, impellers mounted on a spinning plate force waste against a stationary grind ring. The newly liquefied waste is stored in a separate chamber, which has been reinforced for acidity. Gulp droids can be instructed to clean a certain mess, or one can manually dump waste into the droid's receptacle. Once it is full, the droid discharges waste into a sewer system or an alley.
Larger models can be obtained and are usually found in businesses rather than homes. While the gulp droid is not aggressive, it can reflexively shoot a stream of liquefied garbage when threatened. Additionally, putting a hand inside the droid while it is powered on can cause significant damage.
