DESCRIPTION
The Galactic Republic, in an attempt to disassociate itself with the sordid memories which were explicitly tied to the clone trooper style of armor utilized in the past, commissioned the creation of a brand new line of armor. This line, created by BlasTech Industries, is known as the Gungnir-Series Armor and is now the Republic's standard choice in soldier protective gear. The Gungnir-Series comes in a number of versions, each associated with the specializations of the soldier wearing it.

First and foremost is the Gungnir-Series Mark I Armor, which is the most produced version of the Gungnir-Series and the standard model. The Mark I is issued to standard soldiers and offers excellent protection from blaster fire and ballistics. Furthermore, its armor weave bodyglove gives the soldier an excellent defense against lightsabers; albeit limited to resisting at most two blows.

Next is the Mark II Armor, a lighter variant of the Mark I which is specifically crafted to accommodate soldiers specializing in reconnaissance and sniping. This armor, albeit lighter, offers the same protection as the Mark I and includes additional features within the helmet: an interface which allows the soldier to view targets in thermal vision, and a macrobinocular viewplate which greatly zooms in on a target, even without the aide of a rifle scope.

The Mark III Armor is the heavy variant of the Mark I. It offers nearly double the protection of a Mark I set of armor, but is heavier in weight because of it. This armor is specifically designed to give soldiers wielding larger, powerful, yet slower weapons the protection they need in order to inflict as much damage as possible with their assault arms.

The Mark IV Armor is a special variant of the Mark I armor which is specifically crafted to accommodate members of the Jedi Order. It is exceptionally lightweight and offers great protection against numerous types of weapons, specifically lightsaber blades. This is the only model of the Gungnir-Series that does not include a helmet.
