- Cross Map - With a 2000 meter effective range, the GWE-003 can engage a target from one end of a battlefield to another, allowing a sniper to rain down terror on targets from a position of relative safety and concealment.
- Witch Striker - Even with its somewhat primitive nature, the GWE-003 is an incredibly accurate and precise weapon. A skilled sniper can leverage this to devastating effect by picking off high-value targets with shots to vital areas.
- Cheap and Reliable - Lacking in frills, the GWE-003 is a cheap and reliable weapon, ideal for fielding by outback militias, cultist gangs, and hard-pressed rebels who need a weapon capable of engaging heavier, reinforced targets.
- Kinetic Firepower - The GWE-003 is capable of engaging targets ranging from armored vehicles to anti-air emplacements, and charging rancors. The projectile carries extreme amounts of kinetic forces, giving the potential for damage even if penetration fails. Accordingly, firing the weapon at a typical humanoid-sized target is to invite the potential for gruesome overkill, capable of putting down even the most stubborn targets.
- Manual Operation - Compared to modern sniper blasters and energy weapons, the GWE-003 has a very manual mode of operation—bolt-action. Accordingly, the bolt must be worked after every shot, limiting the weapon’s rate and volume of fire.
- Ammunition Weight - Pound for pound, energy weapons are generally more efficient than slugthrowers. The GWE-003 certainly is no exception to this. Magazines and slugs take space and add weight to any soldier, limiting how many can be carried at a time.
- Mechanical Mutation - Like any piece of technology, the GWE-003 is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a jam or some other mechanical failure that might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the shooter vulnerable.
- Fat Rolling - The GWE-003 is a large, heavy weapon. Accordingly, it is not practical for use in close-quarters and most users will find it nigh-impossible to fire while standing. In a quickdraw contest between two shooters of equal strength and skill, with one wielding the GWE-003 (55 Lbs.) and the other a basic slugthrower rifle (8.82 Lbs.), the shooter wielding the slugthrower rifle will win quite handily. Not to mention, the shooter wielding the slugthrower rifle will be able to move faster than the other.
Derived from the KR-210—a Gulag Plague-era anti-materiel sniper rifle originally manufactured by BlasTech Industries—the GWE-003 is a reproduction of that venerable design. One of the few weapons known to have successfully put down not just one, but two Brain Demon Witches during the height of that era (though whether the Witches regenerated or were later revived is another question), the KR-210 was nevertheless discontinued by the company due to disappointing sales, with all of its blueprints thought destroyed. Later on, having become aware of the KR-210’s feat of putting down a Brain Demon Witch, Nathan Bloodscrawl took a keen interest in the design and located a blueprint while raiding an ancient vault, along with an ancient production of the weapon itself. Having developed an obsession with the weapon owing to its fearesome anti-Witch reputation, Nathan worked tirelessly to modernize and refine the design in the hopes of producing a lethal implement that would work to put more Brain Demon Witches in the ground. The weapon was soon sold by Gun-Works of Epica as the GWE-003, with marketing focused towards cash-strapped rebel militias. All in all, the GWE-003 is hoped to become a potent weapon in the galactic arsenal of liberation and anti-dark side terror.
The GWE-003 is manufactured at Gun-Works molecular forge factories primarily based on Epica. However, with the right blueprints it can be produced at any molecular or atomic forge. Accordingly, the blueprints are proprietary. However, this has not prevented them from “falling” into the hands of a number of anti-Sith or anti-Imperial partisan factions, Bryn’adul hunters, and last but certainly not least, Witch hunters of any persusasion.
