STRENGTHS
- Shield Projection Field: The Gryphus living up to its name as a support ship is able to project its unidirectional Ray or CROSS shields out to surround its allies within formation of itself taking them under its wings and defending them as well as itself. The Gryphus' empowerment tether system also uses the range of this projection field to empower other allies within the area.
- Advanced Shielding: This ship employs both a CROSS shield system as well as a standard Ray shield, together, with the Gryphus' high powered reactor cores, these unidirectional shields are incredibly hard to penetrate. Combined with the advanced Ultrachrome B armour plating, shooting down one of these mobile tanks can be a difficult affair.
- Empowering Aura: While the HA-X has its Shield projection unit engaged creates a biome for this function, irradiating the area within its shield with volatile particles acting as a bridge for coupling power with the integrated receivers within House Aquila craft. After linking with This system for some time the ships receive a short duration of increased overall performance, especially to Ion Thrusters, Shields and Energy Weapon damage output.
- Gun Runner: Due to its primary role as a support ship, many of its armaments save for its integrated nozzle weapons would be considered of its own class. That said, it comes equipped with an impressive array of defensive weapons which it uses to aggressively protect the squadrons flying with it. Firing hails of supporting gunfire from multiple angles, able to be retrofitted with repeating blaster cannons or Missiles in most cases.
- Advanced Reactor: With experimental wireless wave transferal technology it requires an astronomical amount of energy. The Gryphus uses a twin reactor system which employs laser activated reactions, firing high energy lasers at conductive hypermatter to trigger fission. These laser powered reactors can generate massive amounts of energy in short blasts.
- Shielded Gimballs: All of this ships turrets are individually shielded meaning that the manned gunners behind these Giball mounted turrets are safe from immediate harm. Additionally the turrets within the ship are stored internally and covered with the ships armour plating for general safety until they are deployed.
- Overheat: Ships that benefit from the empowerment of the Gryphus' particle enrichment should be careful, should the already high speeds of high performance craft be boosted further it could cause damage to the ship and the pilot should they be stressed, overpowering acceleration dampeners. Likewise high powered weapons receiving additional boosts may find them become easily overheated.
- Wide Arc: As well as its deficit in speed, due to its weight the force of the momentum the Gryphus builds up as it moves is often greater than the thrust its maneuvering thrusters are capable of putting out in a single blast. Generally requiting the ship to slow down significantly for quick or abrupt turns least it trail a potentially painfully wide arc.
- Match Game: Although it takes some organization, with this ship's shields being excellent at defending against powerful singular blasts and its hull geared towards more low caliber rapid fire damage. Low power high rate of fire ship weapons will deplete the Gryphus shields quickly, and high power explosives are rather effective against its hull.
- EMP: A well placed EMP will knock down the powerful energy shields of the Gryphus, especially its projected shield which creates the atmospheric bubble for its charged particle aura. Flying through or being hit by a powerful EMP blast or wave is enough to cause these shields to need to be restarted, taking crucial moments.
The Gryphus is the next step in shielding technology. Created to be a shield to House Aquilas Bomber squadrons as well as one of their most powerful ships for escorting the highest priority VIPs, for every 12 bombers made by House Aquila, 1 of these powerful ships is made, making them a rare commodity on any battlefield. However, few of this terrifying and omniuseful ship are ever required in any given battle.
The HA-X boasts a wide array of powerful weapons and defenses, forward guns reserved for heavy bombers and fighters afford it some hitting power, but the vast majority of its weapons stand as defensive guns in order to shoot down encroaching craft that would dare approach those the Gryphus had deigned to protect in that moment. Putting out an impressive amount of firepower that would rival some light fighter squads.
However, of all its features, none is more useful than its ability to charge particles within its area positively, irradiating the area in such a manner that ships which linger within it for a long duration become charged with them, receiving an overall performance boost to their engines, shields and energy weapons until the charge has worn out. This wireless transmission of energy is coupled with power coupling tech and gama frequency lasers allowing it to transfer power to another ship directly and safely without overpowering its systems or causing feedback loops. This effect often turns blaster-fire and the visual colour of these systems a brighter shade of gold for a short duration.
The ship itself is also large enough to carry and house a rather substantial crew, with amenities enough to house four dozen people, the Gryphus can also act as a small drop-ship should it need to, or in case it is ferrying important peoples from place to place.
