Inanna Harth
Jedi Knight
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Hallard Yomin, better known as "Hal" is the quintessential guy at the office who keeps to himself. Nobody knows much about him, even after they've worked with him for years, but since he doesn't bother anyone and gets so testy when other people bother him, no one has bothered to ask about his background.
Some information can be gleaned from his records. He was born on Zeltros, the second of four children, but spent a significant portion of his youth on Yavin. His family fled back to Zeltros once the Sith Empire took over Yavin. For whatever reason, Hal stayed behind, attending college even as the curriculum became tainted by Sith propaganda. Maybe that's why he has a master's degree in Art History, of all things.
How he wound up working as a common secretary for Niko Tolsto, one of the numerous lower-level minions in the employ of Moff Aerarii Tithe, is anyone's guess. In that role, responsibility for the content of various important contracts fell to him. He was the one who typed up the binding agreements for the colonization of Ord Tiddell, where he was unwittingly drawn into a sabotage attempt... if you could even call a handful of typos a conspiracy against the Empire.
Ah, who cares? Fed up with the Empire's crap, he resigned from Tolsto's service that very day and took up an offer to be Inanna Hoole's personal secretary, working from her office on Dromund Kaas. He has zero involvement in TSE politics, thankfully, and his current job is to help her write novels. That said, he probably didn't expect to wind up marrying her, but here we are. The two have adopted three children, two boys and a girl, and have retired to Erakhis to live out their lives together in relative peace.
- Intent: Sub a major recurring side character.
- Role: Inanna Hoole's husband and secretary/editor/co-writer.
- Permissions: N/A
- Links: Introduced in "After the Twilight", also shows up in "Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!", "My Heart is a Hollow Plain", "Cocoon" and "Nobody's Fool".
- Age: Late 20s
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
- Species: Zeltron
- Appearance: The first thing that comes to everyone's mind upon meeting Hal: this is a guy who wants to be left alone. No, seriously. He dresses frumpy, slouches, doesn't look people in the eye—and don't even get me started on the anti-pheromone ointment. That stuff smells like bleach mixed with bug spray. If you look at him for longer than five seconds, you'll notice that he's actually kind of cute, in a skinny nerd kind of way. He has blue-black hair, a fuchsia complexion, and dark blue eyes... but if your gaze lingers on him he'll notice, open that handsome mouth of his, and say something rude to get you to stop staring.
- Name: Hallard Yomin; "Hal"
- Loyalties: Inanna Hoole | His children
- Wealth: He and Inanna pool their wealth, so he is essentially as rich as she is at any given time. He's not especially comfortable with the idea of being ultra wealthy, however, so he continues to live modestly and keeps most of the credits in the bank.
- Notable Possessions: Personal computer with a keyboard. He and Inanna recently bought a house together.
- Skills: He types. Sometimes he says things that are kind of witty.
- Personality: Hal is as much a product of his species' telepathic abilities as any other Zeltron, but rather than becoming a lazy hedonistic airhead, he turned into a withdrawn, misanthropic loner. The pungent anti-pheromone ointment he applies regularly, along with his quiet nature and general avoidance of people, comes from a desire to maintain control over his emotions and his life. He doesn't want people fawning over him just because of the fumes his body produces, nor does he want to feel what others feel. Let them keep their privacy and let him be left alone. For this attitude, on Zeltros he would be considered almost antisocial; among other species he is merely a cantankerous hermit. He shuns most pleasures and vices, filling out his time with hard work and study instead. Getting him to come out of his shell is a job in and of itself, but if you are successful he will exhibit flashes of dry humor, high empathy, and hidden observational skills.
- Weapon of Choice: Eyes and ears.
- Combat Function: Hal in combat? Forget it, man. He's a pencil-pusher. Best he can hope for is noticing ahead of time that chit is about to go down and getting the hell out of there before it happens.
- Living Breathing Word Processor: "Not only does he have a snappy, punchy prose style, but I swear to you that after forty years in the business he is the fastest typist I have ever seen!"
- Unnoticed Observer: People tend to not really notice him, which makes it easy for him to just watch and listen.
- Puritanical: Due to his Zeltron heritage, he is certain that if he lets himself go even a little bit, he won't be able to stop. So he employs a strict personal policy of no excessive drinking, no sense-dulling drugs, and no fooling around. If you ask him what he does for fun, he'll say he reads. At least, that's what he'll say if he doesn't automatically tell you to go away and leave him alone.
- Non-Combatant: He can't fight and could be killed or captured very easily. Probably wouldn't do well under torture and interrogation, either.
- Antisocial: He doesn't like talking to people unless absolutely necessary. He's there to work, not to make friends and small talk.
- Puritanical: His flat refusal to take part in anything "fun" can come across as more than a little suspicious, especially to his fellow Zeltrons. He's also naturally more prone to temptation. Under the right circumstances, he could be made to have some fun... but the long-term consequences and shame that would arise from his failure to control himself would be especially painful for him.
