The Last Queen, beneath the Moon
Tsuki Kyaroru, The Last Queen, circa 4048 BBY
[SOURCE]

Name: Hapan Kitsune

Designation: Sentient, Mammalian, Humanoid

Homeworld: Hapes

Language: Hapan (The original practitioners of the language before the Hapes Consortium)

Average height of adults: Males 2.2 meters; Females 1.6 meters

Skin color: Caucasian, very pale

Fur color: Their "fur" covers members' heads, ears, and tails.
  • Common colors include: Black, red, yellow, orange.
  • Rare colors include: White, purple, green.

Breathes: Oxygen, Type 1 atmosphere.

Strengths:
  • Natural cunning - A very crafty race, known to be able to make rather snap decisions when required.
  • Hyper-dexterous - Being very light and nimble on their feet, allowing them to accomplish impressive acrobatic feats.
  • Heightened senses - Once matured, Kitsune develop acute hearing, improved eyesight, and a keen sense of smell.
Weaknesses:
  • Blaring weak spot - Severely damaging or even removing a Kitsune's tail or multiple tails can render one immensely weakened or near-death. This effect is amplified in individuals with the legendary nine tails, as removing all nine will result in immediate death for the individual.
  • Abysmal night vision - Living within the constantly bright Transitory Mists means their night vision has barely evolved.
  • Sensitive hearing - Extremely loud noises can injure or even render one permanently deaf.
  • Emotionally driven - The Kitsune are heavily reliant on their emotions, letting them be the main driving force behind most regular situations.
  • Dying breed - After battling the Lorell Raiders and losing a majority of their males, the species has still not fully recovered, barely managing to keep from going extinct.
Distinctions: The Kitsune, or "Fox People", of Hapes share many characteristics to a base-line Human, walking upright, opposable appendages, etc. The similarities end there though.

The Kitsune as a whole share several key traits. These include:
  • Before maturity (anywhere between twenty and thirty years of age) Kitsune appear more akin to a baseline human.
  • The race is very aesthetically attractive.
  • They rarely show physical signs of aging throughout their lives.
  • Canine like ears on the top of their heads.
  • A pronounced set of canine teeth.
  • A set of fine whiskers adorning each cheek.
  • Per individual, anywhere between one and nine separate tails grow upon maturity, that begin at the base of the spinal column.
  • For those with multiple tails, the ability to make only one tail visible at all times, though, all tails will appear in times of stress.
There are many differences, however, between the sexes that can allow anyone to easily identify the difference between a male and female Kitsune.

Males: Male Kitsune grow much taller and more built than their female counterparts. When males mature, they grow a "mane" that covers a portion of their upper back. Individual males will seek an individual female to mate with for life (this practice is currently set aside in favor of mass reproduction). It has happened, albeit very rarely, males seem to grow no more than five tails. Though, when one does mature with more, they are considered prodigies among the male populace.

Females: The females, appear more feminine and fragile in comparison to their counterparts, which is not the case. They also develop more "womanly" features upon maturing, maintaining the same appearance throughout their entire lives, making it very difficult to accurately pinpoint an age as the oldest females look as if they were the same age as Kitsune decades younger. The females are more polyarmorous in their desire to seek out multiple mates and form their own "harems".

Average Lifespan: 550 - 600 GSY

Races: N/A

Estimated Population: On Hapes, there are currently only two isolated populations of Kitsune. Each of these have populations numbering only in the hundreds. Outside of these two communities, Hapan Kitsune are never seen.

Diet: Omnivorous. Sensitive to alcoholic and caffeinated beverages, the effects being amplified for the Kitsune easily twice a base-line Human.

Communication: Speech is similar to any humanoid species. Between members, you can also expect to hear barking, growls, yelps, and howling.

Culture: Originally, a kingdom led by one known as The Queen, with the nine most powerful clans ruling over their individual lands. Currently, they exist as a matriarchal caste society with the heads of the remaining two clans being the powerful nine-tailed females with those with lesser tales tending to their respective appointments. They also are a people of mythology, using the generations long legends and tales to offer guidance in their daily lives and rules.

Leadership is key to their continued existence. The words and actions of the matriarchs and those in their courts are never taken lightly. The Kousaka clan, one of the two current leading clans, has been attempting to break away from the traditional ways and set their own path in the greater galaxy. They have been countered time and time again however by the very traditional Kyaroru clan, descendants of the Last Queen.

One day, something might change for them, but until that time comes, the Kitsune remain an isolationist race that hold their secrets and borders tightly around them.

Male Kitsune, though very few in number, are the primary means of labor and reproduction.

Technology level: Technologically deprived with even the modern groups living simply off the land and with no modern technology whatsoever.

General behavior: The Kitsune of Hapes are a bit odd to outsiders when it comes to their behavior. Generally, the Kitsune are very outgoing, friendly, and sociable with one another. Even the subservient males are allowed to co-mingle with their leading females. This general atmosphere of good natured companionship extends to all, from the lowest ranking servants to the Matriarchs. Towards outsiders, if any are ever given the chance to do, the walls are immediately raised. This is due to their history with their only interactions being the war with the Lorell Raiders and their captive populace once they were defeated.

History: Centuries before the Lorell Raiders discovered the planet Hapes within the Transitory Mists, the Kitsune lived a peaceful existence within their isolated kingdom. They had established a solid network across the planet for themselves; The Queen ruled over the clans fair and firm, and each of the leading clans tended to their respective lands. Their peace was shattered, however, when the first of the Lorell Raiders landed upon Hapes.

At first, each group kept their relative distance from one another, until the Raiders discovered the true beauty of the Kitsune women, and in their greed, attacked.

The Kitsune rallied to defend their kingdom, and fared well against the Raiders technological superiority, but only briefly. The Unnamed War (as it is known as in records) lasted for an undetermined amount of time, before a majority of the Kitsune forces, primarily the males, were utterly destroyed by a reinforced Raider army. Eight of the ten leading clans' matriarchs perished, and their clans nearly wiped out. If it were not for the ruling Queen's quick decision for her people to scatter across the planet, the Kitsune would have surely been annihilated completely.

It took nearly a decade for the remnants of the once proud kingdom to regroup with their Queen. They quietly plotted against the Raiders in the highlands while nursing their wounds and attempting to reestablish order within their ranks.

Due to the instability during these trying times, little to no records exist. The little that is on record states that the Queen and her remaining court began attempting to find out anything they possibly could about these foreign invaders.

It was not until they discovered the Raider's true intentions that the remaining Kitsune acted. They found out these strange people were abducting women from across the Galaxy to be their personal slaves. This gave the Queen the idea to begin a guerrilla style war against the invaders. They put their plan into action after several years in isolation. They began abducting the men of the Lorell Raiders.

These actions went on for some time, though it did little to help the already weakened state of the Kitsune populace. It did, however, begin to be seen as a heroic act by the Raider's female captives, who began worshiping the native people.Even going so far as to give the Queen the status of a Goddess in her own right.

These actions went on for nearly two-hundred years and did little to curb both the Raider's numbers nor the diminishing Kitsune. However, both groups would have an outside savior. The Galactic Republic, along with the Jedi, led by Arca Jeth, destroyed the Lorell Raiders at the Battle of Lorell. This left the Raider's former slaves to fend for themselves within the Transitory Mists.

The Kitsune reemerged on Hapes to a lost but grateful populace. The Queen saw this as the start of something new and began to assist the former slaves establish themselves. The grateful population revered the Kitsune, especially their Queen, as saviors and modeled their own politics around them; a matriarchal caste society, but they took it one step further, and began the complete subjugation of all remaining males.

The relations lasted only as long as the Queen was still alive, and sometime before 4000 BBY, Tsuki, The Last Queen, passed away of old age. Her successor was left with a tough choice: remain in the public eye on Hapes, or isolate themselves from the newly formed Consortium. With many whispers within her own court, the new queen abolished the remnants of the kingdom, allowing her and her only fellow Matriarch to lead their own clans, and in what seemed like over-night, the Kitsune once again disappeared into the Hapan wilderness, never too be seen by the Consortium again.

That is where they survive today, isolated and at relative peace, allowing little to change in almost four-thousand years.

Notable Player-Characters: Kimiko

Intent: This is my character's original species, albeit unknowingly, and I hope to be able to grow her into a full-fledged member of the race in time and with appropriate development. I also wanted to add a little bit of Asian folklore into the RP, with it's own Star Wars twist.

Your weaknesses as they stand right now are extremely unbalanced. What we look for in the Codex is physical weaknesses that could be used in competitive RP to offset the strengths that would be used there. Having others as fluff is alright, but not when all the strengths can be used competitively. In light of that, Hapan Kitsune are vastly overpowered between enhanced senses and abilities and force sensitivity. You presently have one acceptable weakness as written. If you broaden the poor night vision to just generally be very poor, that will make a second acceptable weakness. I am still going to need an additional three to four significant weaknesses to balance your strengths. If you mean for the entire Hapan Kitsune species to be force sensitive, I am going to need one more major weakness to the species, preferably force related.

Hapan Kitsune are a matriarchal society, I understand that, as well as how males became second class and socially inferior. What I do not understand though is how males came to be mentally inferior, as ignorance is not an acceptable explanation. It is okay for them to be denied education, however there is no acceptable explanation for the lack of cognitive functions. Please edit your submission accordingly.

In regards to the amount of tails Hapan Kitsune have, do they grow all their tails at once? What of the males that grow more than five tails and females that grow fewer?

Sir, I will finish finish this today. But, I have elaborated on almost all points, I did remove the overall Force sensitivity for the species, and am giving more of a history and details overall.

First thing that jumps out is the male intellectual disability. As I previously stated, there is no acceptable explanation for males alone to suffer from a lack of cognitive functions. If males suffer it, females will have to also. As I said previously, it is okay for males to be second class citizens in the Hapan Kitsune matriarchal society, denied education, whatever. Think about it this way: if someone wanted to roleplay a male Hapan Kitsune, they wouldn't be able to live up to whatever potential they'd want to, because you're limiting their creative freedoms by imposing a mental disability that has no foundation behind it.
I'm going to insist you drop this idea and replace it with institutional constraints as a part of the matriarchal society - any kind of absence of cognitive function or mental disability that applies only to males will result in this submission being denied.

I would also like for you to explain why males show signs of aging more than females. Furthermore, please at at least one more paragraph to your culture. Also, you're general behavior section is still empty.

Your new strengths and weaknesses are fine.

Natural cunning - Males and females of this race tend to be very crafty when needed, though the females have a higher ability for decision making.
Emotionally driven - The Kitsune are heavily reliant on their emotions, especially the females, letting them be the main decision makers in most of their lives.
This weakness and ability seem kind of contradictory. If females rely heavily on emotion for decisions, what makes them more capable decision makers?

Everything else looks good. Nice work.
