Harbinger Super-Heavy Weapon Emplacement
Intent: To create a big, barrel consolidating weapon for Firemane. This weapon emplacement is nothing too special except as a way to make large cannons in the style of 20th century Dreadnoughts.
Development Thread: If needed.
Manufacturer: Firemane Industries & Technology
Model: FIT-CS1a
Affiliation:Tygaran Alliance, Open Market Customers | Firemane Industries & Technology & closed market to approved buyers only.
Modularity: Can be either turbolaser or ion cannon.
Production: Mass.
Material: Standard capital ship components.
Classification: Super-Heavy Ship Emplacement.
Size: Capital Ship mounted.
Length: 25m
Weight: 40,000 tonnes.
Ammunition Type: Reactor power.
Ammunition Capacity: Essentially unlimited.
Effective Range: ‘Long Range’ in fleeting terms.
Rate of Fire: 2 shots per minute. Any faster and the gun risks burning out.

Description:
Modern naval ships are vast in size, but from Firemane’s perspective the size of weapons, with the exception of special ones like the Vortex Cannon and Nova Cannon, were small. Thus, like many other manufacturers in the galaxy, Firemane experimented with ‘barrel consolidation’, meaning combining many weapons into one.
The Harbinger is designed to be a weapon on the newest Firemane capital ships. By no means will it replace all the capital weapons, but it is a very powerful addition to the arsenal in small amounts. The power requirements for the weapon are such that it cannot be used in more than a dual turret at most. The weapon can be made as a turbolaser or ion cannon. It obviously cannot change ammunition once created!
The tradeoffs for a powerful weapon like this are obvious. The emplacement is massive, making rapid aiming very hard. It is best used against capital ships, and for this reason smaller turbo or ion weapons need to be retained to deal with smaller ships.
On the other hand, the power of this weapon’s impact are both devastating and memorable.
Primary Source: N/A, though slightly inspired by my discussions with [member="Valessia Brentioch"] about the Warspite and 20th century capital ships.

Special Features:
- Equivalent to an octuple heavy long-range turbo/ion cannon. (8 x 2 x 4 = 64 capital guns).
- Can be dual mounted in a turret for 128 capital guns. No further increase on this possible.
- Batteries possible, but are obviously a massive amount of capital guns.
- Can only be mounted on ships larger than 1000m. Ships smaller than this are too small and do not have the power requirements needed.
- Advanced long range trackers and targeting equipment to fire at the ranges necessary.
- The turret itself can rotate and elevate/depress up to 360 degrees around and from -80 to +80 degrees if the ship it’s mounted on allows it.
Strengths:
- Big Boom. The Harbinger packs a massive punch. A turbolaser is a powerful weapon, now imagine 64 of them impacting the same point at the same time.
- Long Range. The Harbinger has a formidable range. It is, for the purpose of naval battles long-ranged.
- Consolidation. On a fundamental level, the Harbinger is no more powerful than the barrels it consolidates because of the chance of missing. However, when it hits, the enemy knows it.
- Heavy. Unlike many individual weapons, the Harbinger finds it harder to target smaller, faster ships. It can only really be used on enemy capital ships.
