PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Constructed of durable metals such as duranium, Hard Chrome stands at a towering six and a half feet tall. Powerful mechanical components are generally protected by thicker pieces of metal and the heavy limbs of the droid are powered by massive mechanical components. A customized face plate adds an almost human-like visage save that it appears as a mechanical skull, two glowing red photo-receptors, stand ins for eyes.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Hard Chrome. As its name might suggest, HC is a cold and calculating droid, one designed for combat and programmed for the gladiator pits. Decisions are made on threat assessments and odds of survival or success. Success is measured by survival and the elimination of threats to its person. Person. Only recently has Hard Chrome truly become aware of itself. Whether due to a programming glitch or a miraculous gaining of self sentience, Hard Chrome finds themselves alone in its discovery.

Odds of survival are slim, knowledge and awareness will increase odds of survival. Objective: Seek Knowledge. Gain Freedom.

STRENGTHS

Physically Intimidating: Hard Chrome's large size and bulky frame, in addition to his custom face plate/head unit, present an intimidating sight. Its presence alone is often a force in and of itself, capable of cowing even some of the hardest pit fighters. It's more than just appearance though, the unit's heavy weight and powerful mechanics are a force to be reckoned with in close combat.

Heuristic Processing: Because of HC's heuristic processing, it can learn effectively from combat encounters and even adjust to new mechanics or strategies on the fly. Whether it's in combat or making decisions generally, the unit's adaptability is much faster than an average utility or combat droid.

WEAKNESSES

Heavy: Weighing in at 123 kg is a benefit in some cases but the droid won't be sneaking around anywhere unheard. Additionally, precarious footwork isn't a strong suit in a non-combat environment. The weight of the units chassis and component disallows maneuvers that would be capable by humans of lighter weight and most ladders aren't designed with HC's mass in mind. Even ground is where it excels.

Poorly Maintained: Due to the units age, multiple parts replacements, and constant damage, the Hard Chrome sports many scars not only on its surface materials but also its processing unit. As such, glitches happen on occasion and its system must reboot/recycle before the unit can become fully capable again.

HISTORY

Hard Chrome started out as any other IG-100 unit, produced en masse and conveniently stored away in some underground bunker for decades, centuries even - deactivated. Fast forward to nearly 100 Galactic Standard Years ago and Hard Chrome, previously IG-100, Designation X291DF8, was powered on. Unfortunately its purpose was none such noble as wars between nations or planets, nor warring interstellar factions. No, Hard Chrome had ended up in the hands of a gladiatorial combat ring, droids against droids at first but when that endeavor failed to sate the thirsts of the crowd it was set upon flesh. Slaves, criminals, rivals, all manner of human and alien flesh alike were sacrificed upon the metal altar of its hands.

Recently becoming self aware, Hard Chrome has yet to decide its own fate - if it believes in such things. This is a brave new world.
