[ DESCRIPTION ]
- The HAT-8A/c Troop Transport or "Hercules" is a troop transport based off of the Old Republic's Juggernaught transport. Taking the basic design elements from the old and now aged design, the Galactic Empire improved and added onto the design which had once been a perfect blend of defense and a frontal assault beachhead. The transport acts as a frontline beachhead transport, firing off missile pod payloads and utilizing it's heavy laser weaponry to clear a way for tanks, walkers, and infantry to follow closely behind it. Once the vessel has made significant enough of a charged payload into the enemy defense or offensive line, the side airlock doors on the bottom module of the Hercules will open up. These airlock loading doors are located on the wheeled section of the transport, specifically on either side of the third and middle wheel, with enough of a gap between the second wheel, third wheel, and fourth wheel to both unload infantry and very light vehicles such as speeders, recon vehicles, and portable defensive emplacements. All of this helps to allow the Hercules to both establish a military beachhead and forwards command station to allow for the landing of airships behind enemy lines.
- The Hercules transport makes use of a dual-bridge system. There is a bridge located at both the front of the vehicle and the rear of the vehicle, allowing for two simultaneous command centers to be used. If, for example, one bridge becomes disabled, all command and support staff will be moved to the secondary bridge to make the vehicle still operable and useful. Alongside the dual-bridge system, there are a multitude of backup engine-battery blocks and energy generators to help support the vehicle if some components of it become disabled mid-combat and cannot be repaired immediately.
