Another escort-type ship for the Crossroads Republic Fleet which also represents a design departure away from longer boxier designs in favor of a sleek fast winged design able to be commanded very aggressively in defensive engagements protecting a fleet or a convoy or in an offensive capacity going after enemy commercial or logistics ships while supporting starfighter wings. This is also a powerful ship designed to disable or destroy fast blockade runners thanks to its long-range main battery and a battery of anti-ship and anti-starfighter missiles. This new weapons loadout makes the ship quite flexible, as doctrine required it to be. This ship's most attractive feature, besides its armament, is its ease of manufacture and repair thanks to its modular construction. In an equipped Crossroads military shipyard a Hawkbill-Class ship can go from its initial go-ahead for construction to launching as a battle-ready unit in a period of less than two weeks. And if damaged a section merely has to be removed, and a pre-constructed section attached to put the ship back into action.
