- Description: The Haxion Freebooters are a spacefaring band motivated by one thing only: money. Primarily operating in the Outer Rim, they gladly harass all manner of vessels for financial gain. Because of this, they are often paid to throw a wrench into the shipments of organizations and governments. There is no limit to who they may target. They do not offer preferential treatment to a Sith, Jedi, or any other flavor of entity. They are only loyal to the Brood itself...and their clients, so long as the credits keep rolling in.
COMBAT INFORMATION
- Unit Size: Large
- Unit Availability: Common
- Unit Experience: Trained
- Equipment:
- Combat Function: As the Haxion Freebooters exist on the fringes of galactic society, they are accustomed to operating on their own with little-to-no support. Their combat tactics are typically characterized by aggression, speed, and a willingness to take risks. Typically, they rely on outmaneuvering their targets, the element of surprise, and quickly exploiting vulnerabilities in their opponents defenses. The Freebooters rely on smaller ships overall, which allows them to engage in hit-and-run tactics. As always, financial gain is their motivation, so how well they mesh with other military forces is highly dependent on the paycheck.
- Agility & Maneuverability: As the Freebooters vessels are often smaller and more nimble than those of larger fleets, they are able to outmaneuver targets and strike from unexpected angles.
- Adaptability: The Freebooters operate a diverse array of vessels, allowing them to interdict, board, rob, and capture their targets quickly and effectively. Moreover, the pirates themselves are known for their ability to adapt to changing circumstances. As the old saying goes: "nothing goes according to plan", thus being flexible on the fly is a must.
- Lack of Central Command: The Haxion Freebooters are very loosely organized. Each vessel has an individual captain and crews which can act independently of one another. While this permits a diversity in tactics that may overwhelm a trade vessel, the lack of coordination can be perilous when contesting organized, military forces.
- Limited Resources: The Freebooters do not have access to advanced, or even modern, technology. Their vessels, however capable, are refurbished models that are sometimes centuries behind when compared to typical military ships.
The Haxion Freebooters have a long history dating back to the Brood's formation in 9 ABY. For nearly a thousand years, the Syndicate - as a whole - has been operating within the Outer Rim. And, true to the nature of their business, one of the staple forms of amassing funds was piracy. Thus, the Haxion Brood has always had vessels and crews that preyed upon the Hyperlanes. However, it was not until modern history that the crews organized themselves enough to warranty a formal name.
Now dubbed the Haxion Freebooters, the fleet continues to operate in the Outer Rim and beyond. Ever motivated by currency, they will work for the highest bidder. Otherwise, they will capture ships, pilfer valuables, sell off their victims, and add to their coffers. There is no target that is too large. There is no score that is too dangerous to attempt. All the Hyperlanes are a playground, and the Haxion Freebooters are finally at recess.
