Healing Care

Ciana looked on the Grand Moff with an eye of concern as she left the wedding hall. Locked to her hover chair, the woman looked greatly diminished from the last time their paths had briefly crossed on Cloud City at the Economic Summit.

Asking around a bit during the reception on the state of Fortan, she learned that the Grand Moff had suffered serious nerve damage to her spine from an attack by a Ssi-ruu. That made sense. Neurons in adult humans normally did not regenerate, so standard bacta treatments wouldn’t do the trick. As the Force Users of the First Order trended closer to Bogan, there wouldn’t be any help from them, either. The Dark Side of the Force had its uses but did not lend itself well to the healing arts and Ciana herself would never entrust her health to the likes of a Sith or one of the Supreme Leader’s trained hounds. Perhaps Fortan was of the same mind.

Through the Grand Moff, there was another opportunity to showcase the medical advancements of Kiribians, who had successfully weaned themselves off the use of precious bacta and kolto during the dark ages to rediscover conventional medicine and bioengineering to cure their ills. First Order space was ripe for development, and she liked the idea of building her legacy making her mark upon the Outer Rim. There was little challenge for her in the developed Core.

Following the reception, she sent a message to the grand moff through official channels. It seemed a bit funny as Fortan was practically within spitting distance on Thakwaa, but she was a firm adherent to protocol as it concerned strangers of the Grand Moff’s import. Grand Moff Fortan,

Hello, my name is Ciana Teigra, CEO of the Panacea Corporation. You may not remember me, but we met before on Cloud City during the Economic Summit last year. I must thank you for allowing me to attend, you opened the doors for me to pursue several new opportunities in the Outer Rim. In cooperation with several local companies, Panacea is poised to create one of the greatest communication networks that the galaxy has ever seen, to set the stage for an age of untold prosperity in the Outer Rim in a new age of interconnectedness. Without the stabilizing presence First Order, none of this would be possible.

Today we met again, in passing, during the wedding of Supreme Commander Vaas. I would have liked to have thanked you in person and spoke about Panacea’s progress, but I was dismayed to learn that you were forced to retire for the evening due to your injuries.

If you’re interested in a checkup by yours truly, then I’m still available on Thakwaa. I currently have the means on hand to see to it that you begin a full recovery if needed. I have a mobile station on my yacht, or I can come to you with my equipment, your choice.

Respectfully,
Ciana Teigra

skin, bone, and arrogance
The Grand Moff looked up as there was a knock on her cabin door. She furrowed her brow and took off her glasses. "Come," she called. The door opened and a navy steward entered and handed her a note; she unfolded it and opened it, then slid her glasses on to read it. She read it again and then pulled out a piece of stationary, upon which she wrote a response:

Dear Ms. Teigra,

I am delighted to hear from you and of course I remember you. I have followed coverage of the Panacea Corporation with great interest. The creation of your communications network will herald a new age, particularly for the citizens of the Outer Rim who have long been considered outside of civilized society due to their distance from the core. The advances of hyperspace technology and other communications networks have advanced greatly through history, but there is still a long way to go. I look forward to the expansion of your network and the different applications available.

As regards my condition, your kind concern is much appreciated. I have seen several specialists on Dosuun and all are confident that a recovery is possible, given the right type of surgery and the right amount of convalescence. However, with the geopolitical situation being what it is, I am wary of making myself unavailable for work to undergo surgery and a long recovery; it's just not the right time. However, your technology has proved miraculous in other areas; perhaps I would do well to hear you out in the medical arena as well.

I will remain aboard my ship until later this evening when my traveling companions are finished at the wedding. If you would like to meet, contact me at the frequency attached and I can come to your vessel. There is no rush and I don't wish to take you away from [member="Marzena Vaas"]' big day, so I will await your convenience.

Thank you for your offer - I am encouraged by your words.

With warm regards,
Natasi Josephine Fortan

She handed the note to the steward. "Please have this delivered to [member="Ciana Teigra"] at the wedding, with my card. Thank you."
