Healing Hands (Open to All)

Hanging Gardens, Voss Academy

[member="Audren Sykes"] | [member="Lily Hex-Volsh"] | [member="George O Rourke"]

A world that felt inherently peaceful by it's very nature, Voss felt, at least to her, to be the perfect place for Force Users to train. If only the Sith had spent their formative years here, perhaps the galaxy would be a very different place. True, there were occasional conflicts, but despite that, the Voss themselves were beings of contemplative calm and an inherent trust in the Force - at least, through the mediums of their Mystics, the beings that communicated with the Force on behalf of their people. It was humbling, calming and stunningly provocative, all within the same breath.

The Mystics themselves had developed a profound understanding of the Force that lacked the same regimented, trained and highly-conditioned nature of Jedi training. Their understanding comes from intuitive surrender to the will of the Force. Jedi spent their lives trying to achieve something that the ritualistic Voss learned almost instinctively, through their traditions and meditative natures. Though their healing methods are entirely different from our own, too. That alone had been a shocking revelation.

Shaking her head, as if to shake herself from the reverie that she knew she had delved into, her blonde curls bouncing softly around her shoulders, Teynara permitted herself a slight sigh. Even now, she couldn't help but feel like an amateur surrounded by Masters, a Padawan starting out on her journey, even though she wasn't considered such. There's always so much more to learn. The thought was part excitement, part resignation. But today's focus isn't on my learning, she added mentally, her lips curving slightly into an amused smile, perhaps a little self-deprecating. Trust me to sit here indulging in idle thoughts when there is work to do! Voss seemed to have that effect on everyone.

For reasons that still didn't quite fit into place, she'd agreed to offer lessons on Force Healing to the students of the Academy. I guess maybe the Masters thought I was being a little idle, meditating more than putting my skills to use. And thus she waited now, using the beauty of these sunken gardens as a place of brief convalescence, waiting for those eager minds to arrive and try to draw knowledge out of her and absorb it into themselves. Little like Voss Healing techniques, she thought with continuing amusement. Maybe they'd end up covering that, too, but she would wait and see how much this particular group would grasp.

Lily excitedly moved towards the gates of the meditation chamber. The towering man next to her was Kenshi who was boldly following her as her bodyguard a man hired by her mother to keep her safe as measure of reassurance for a worried mother despite her being in the safety of the Silver sanctum. Very few people would really want to fight against a heavily muscled and armored man which made him perfect for preventing anyone attacking little Lily.

Lily's reasoning for travelling so far from the safety of her was due to her father's insist to her mother to allow to come here and train and expand her abilities. Thus far, she has learn to use a saber and a gun, gauntlet, the art of movement and interia. Of course the basics of using the force, she saw her new instructor, lady [member="Teynara Jeralyr"] and turned to the man and playfully shooed him away. The man nodded taking a few steps back keeping a watchful eye.

She ran up and get her a quick hug as she did with her other instructors and took a few steps back bowing her head. "Master." She said with a slight giggle in her tone. "I am Lily Hex! I will be a student of yours today." A smile was keep on her face as she crossed her legs and began to hover in place using the force.

The young padawan roamed through the gardens, mask firmly affixed in place. He had heard that there was to be a lesson on the Healing Arts to take place, and though he learned much under his own Master, he knew she would likely scold him for skipping an opportunity to potentially learn something new.

He was lost in thought, in wonder at the sheer beauty of this place. It had that affect on him, his golden eyes wide behind that mask, peering eagerly at almost every movement that could catch his keen eye. That branch dancing in the breeze. That leaf, prancing on the wind. The waters of the lake. The birds in the sky. Life. And it was glorious.

His wanderings found him standing not far from where the lesson would be taking place, coincidentally. He had just began to laugh, joy filling his being. An almost musical sound, warm, rich, and inviting. His black robes, and neutral mask, would make the sight one of great intrigue, for such a sound to come from him. His laugh cut short when it dawned on him that there was a conversation being held nearby.

Turning quickly, his robes swirling about him in the motion, Ryn's eyes landed upon fellow Padawan [member="Lily Hex-Volsh"], and Master [member="Teynara Jeralyr"]. Stepping with an almost ethereal grace, his robes making him seem to glide, rather than stride, towards the two. He would lower into a deep bow, greeting them with that soothing, melodic voice. "Master, I believe this is our first meeting. Padawan Ryn'Dhal."

Although being a young Knight George had not trained extensively with the healing techniques of the force. Admittedly he had done it previously through sheer will but it was time to learn how to control and make the most of what the force can do. Well in healing wise that is. George made his way through the peaceful gardens of Voss. Its beauty only beaten by its tranquillity. It felt as if nothing could touch you here. The animals around chirped in peace and the water moved silently as if it were no there.

As George focused back on where he was going he realized that he was already at the meeting spot. The Master for today was [member="Teynara Jeralyr"], a fellow Knight. Some of the Padawans had also made their way here for the training. [member="Ryn'Dhal"] and [member="Lily Hex-Volsh"] seemed eager to start. "Hello Ryn, nice to see you here my friend." He greeted the only one he had previously met before introducing himself to the others. "Greetings fellow Jedi. I am Knight George O Rourke." He said with a smile before turning to what seemed to be Master [member="Teynara Jeralyr"] "Master Teynara? Yes?" He queried with a smile. "Nice to meet you. Like the others here I am yours for the day." Trying not to seem superior seeing that his knowledge of the healing arts was about as equal as the other Padawans here.

Healing. It was an essential portion of the Jedi repertoire, even if the level of ability varied from Jedi to Jedi. Too, it was an essential skill of a warrior, if only because those who fight tend to get wounded. Being able to treat wounds incurred meant a higher likelihood of survival, which was the second goal of most warriors. Audren had been taught the basics of healing - not Force-based healing, but the old-fashioned kind - back on Cholganna in an attempt to interest him in the lifestyle. The outriders had taught him other basics in order to improve his odds of staying alive in the dangerous forests.

The Sephi didn't walk with any supreme grace. His steps were silent and confident however, as he walked through the sunken gardens. He was calm and collected, not hurried. The dark blue and green of his chosen attire allowed him to blend into the shadowy gardens rather well, a completely unlooked-for effect. As he walked, he followed the threads of the Force present in the garden - and there were quite a few. Each plant had its own set, sometimes connected to other plants, each animal, and so on. They even had threads that he perceived as fading away, which if he'd read the writings right those ones were connected through time.

Further into the gardens, a group of Jedi was gathering. This particular group was the one he was heading for in order to learn at least the basics of Force-based healing. He could sense George O Rourke there, as well as another Jedi he'd run across but never actually met, and two others. He was silent as he stepped into the small clearing the teacher had chosen. Those who could sense or see him would know he was there, and he didn't really have much to say.

The hug caught her completely by surprise, physical contact not being something that was particularly encouraged among the Jedi, and thus something that took her more than a little off-guard. Odd that such a thing should surprise me, really, she thought curiously. By now, Tey had more than figured herself immune to finding anything here to be unusual or surprising. I guess when you live among people who can levitate rocks, jump a half-dozen meters without effort, and sense future events simply by sitting and applying a little thought. Jedi are indeed a strange bunch.

The contrast was made even more stark by the hulking presence of a being that was clearly a bodyguard for the young woman that has hugged her so freely. It struck her as oddly ironic – a person so quick to be open and at ease nonetheless walking around with another who was paid to be distrustful and suspicious, if only to protect his charge. Hard to think that anyone could find life on Voss to be threatening. Clearly there was far more to Lily than was readily apparent – after all, who in a Jedi Temple would need the services of a guardian?

The next to arrive was taller than the girl (but not more so than her guardian!), but was mysteriously bundled up and masked, in a manner perhaps more reminiscent of a Sith than of a Jedi. But this isn't about intimidation and fear, is it? That was the intriguing part – why conceal themselves in such a way? When the voice issued from behind the mask, there was that slight hollowness to it that would be natural for one thus covered up, but she could hear a melodic undertone to it that made her imagine spending long hours listening to such a voice, and perhaps slowly being lulled into sleep by the soft rhythm, a soothing sound.

The Nautolan that came third was more ‘normal’, their species a far more common sight, both galaxy wide and within the Temple. Teynara couldn’t imagine that he was comfortable on a planet as temperate as Voss, though: Nautolans were always far more at home in water, and the dry Autumn-esque climate here probably wasn't entirely to the Jedi’s tastes. Finally, a tall young man following on, flowing blonde hair that even made her feel mildly jealous, his height more than a touch intimidating, his pointed ears marking him as a member of the Sephi race. He could well be older than I am, then, she thought with a faint touch of amusement. Why can't all students be four feet in height and clearly younger than me?, she wondered.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all,” she said with a smile, the curve of her lips broadening slightly as she glanced again at Lily, remembering that effusive greeting. “We needn't stand on ceremony here: my name is Teynara, and you call call me ‘Tey’, if you wish. Everybody does,” she added, resting her hands together in front of her. “We’re all Jedi together, so no need to be formal.”

Her long skirts rustling around her ankles as she walked, she headed off to a small courtyard-like area nearby, where a series of cushion-like seats awaited them, arrayed in a broad semi-circle. Beyond that, backed up against a smooth stone wall, sat a number of tables, each with a series of different objects sat upon them. One was a simple metallic tray with a number of clean hypo-syringes resting on top, each filled with a smooth purple fluid. Next to that, a series of vials and bottles, each with different liquids within. Finally, a series of other as-yet-unidentified electronic devices that they might come to later.

Gesturing towards the seats, she walked over to the one closest to the tables and sat down, a languid, smooth motion, her hands now resting in her lap, the hem of her skirt lifting slightly to show the brown boots that covered her legs up to the knees. She waited as the others took their seats, watching them all with a faint smile, feeling a well of calm slipping over her, banishing any reluctance she had felt at teaching once more.

“Healing with the Force is very different to traditional medicine,” she said calmly, her eyes becoming slightly unfocused as she reflected on lessons that she'd had on the topic. “If I try to repair a break or a haemorrhage or organ damage in a sentient being, I need first to understand their physiology – you can't just knit tissues together or transfuse blood without knowing whether it's a suitable treatment for that being.” That, she reflected, was one of the first lessons of exobiology: even visually similar species might have wildly contrasting physiologies. A doctor attempting to treat a Mirialan the same way they might treat a Human could well cause more harm than they cause.

“When we use the Force, we do not use our own knowledge to heal our patients: rather, we serve as a conduit of energy, providing healing energies that the body uses naturally.” Most sentient beings had natural regenerative ability, even if it was limited – cells would divide to replace damaged cells, thrombocytes would create scar tissue over open wounds to knit tissues together, but this was only something that happened in limited fashion. Some wounds were beyond the body's ability to heal, but the regenerative powers of directed Force energy could succeed where the body itself might fail.

“Before we work on healing others, however, we first must be able to heal ourselves,” she continued softly. “More dangerous injuries require full Healing Trances, where we place ourselves in a restorative sleep until the damage is healed. But we must also learn to mitigate pain, neutralise poisons and toxins, stay conscious when we might otherwise lapse, and learn to cope without sleep and not fall prey to the usual downsides of sleep deprivation,” Teynara added. These were the things they would focus on over the next few sessions, hopefully producing some effective trainee Healers.

“Let's start simply, though. Before we draw upon the Force, we should all be suitably centred mentally, ready for what I shall throw at you today,” the young woman added, the vaguest hint of an amused smile causing her lips to curve at the edges. ”I ask that you begin with a short calming meditation. Open your minds, relax, allow yourselves to let go and surrender yourselves to the Force. Only then can we begin.”

As the young woman greeted all of them George felt another presence nearby. A somewhat familiar one... Rkyer? No, that wasn't it. Definitely someone recent. Well Ryn was already here... Audren? Yes Audren. It was him. He kept himself hidden, he wasn't much of a talker. But that was never a hindrance before. Nor was it now.

As Tey motioned for us to move onto another section of the garden it was easily seen that she had prepared well for this session. Seats sat in a wide semi-circle facing a table with another chair next to it. Tey moved to sit next to the table and waited for the students to enter and take their seats.

Shortly she begun. She was a natural. Confident, engaging. It was brilliant to listen to. Already he had learnt a lot about what he was getting himself into and George quite enjoyed it. Self healing, healing others, treating toxins. It was amazing the extent the force could help with. As she finished her introduction she instructed everyone to get into a meditative state. Calming the body and mind for the lessons ahead. George did just that. Closing his eyes and freeing his mind. Allowing the force to flow through him and calm his being.

To allow one to become stronger, have the ability to lift things whether big or small, and to heal others with a single concentrated thought. The force was truly one of the most beautiful things in the Galaxy, did her father know of this? It was most likely. As Master [member="Teynara Jeralyr"] 's words reached her ears, the excitement within was getting harder to contain. In the time she was here, she had met a great many new faces, ones she would have never been able to see had she stayed home with her mother and helped with the business. Her focus was lost as her mind wandered everywhere to the possibilities that the force held and she flopped on to a bed of flowers where she was hovering over and giggled lightly. With her mind wandering about she hadn't realized that there were other people around her even thought they had already made their introductions and are well now into the lesson.

She saw the man in the mask, [member="Ryn'Dhal"], silent and tone low, from his stature he seemed more of a man the relied of observations and action similar to that of her father. Whether or not that was true, she did not know. The masked hid his face and she could not tell nor see through the eyes of the man and his mask, did he see the serenity of the garden in which they stood and the mask was to symbol for the quiet peace or did he see some sort of horror and the mask was to cover his pain? As many who wore mask, it was generally the latter but the mystery of the padawan made her curious enough to lean up and poke him in the mask despite all them being in a lesson. She quickly pulled away realizing what she did without thinking and waved her finger in the Lorrdian language of an apology.

[member="George O Rourke"] looked funny. Funny in a cool way. He was....Green and slimy? She wanted to touch him as well but remembering her fathers words. She has invaded enough peoples personal space in one day...She would have to find him again and poke him another time. The knight had a strong confident smile and the aura around him was brisk and warm, he seemed to had that magnetic personality. Wait? Are his eyes black? Lily did all she could to hold back and faced away from the knight resisting the need to examine him further. She glanced back at him and them to her bodyguard, knowing what she was thinking the large armored man quickly shook his head and pointed to the instructor telling her to focus. She pouted and stuck her tongue out at him with a slight shake of her head and with that took a deep breath.

She concentrated her mind letting the force take her, feeling everything around her. It was finally then she noticed [member="Audren Sykes"] was in their presence. She knew not whom he was but assumed that he was here for the class. She wanted to take time to see the man or woman's face but for now she had to focus. Last thing she wanted was the bodyguard to tell on her, saying to her parents that she wasn't focused in class. As trained with the one she called "Mister Plant Man", she basked in the force gathering and feeling the energies around her. This was boring to her compared to interia and saber combat but this was needed for her to continue her path.

Ryn was completely unable to restrain a soft, warm chuckle when the younger padawan reach up and touched his mask. It amazed him, the curiosity of youth. He never got to experience it himself, so it was a refreshing view into the life he could have had, had fate delt his family a different hand.

He nodded to Master Teynara, "I shall try to speak less formally, but please forgive me should I fail to do so." He then brought his gloved hands to his masked face. "And a quick note of the mask, I have found going without it tends to bring greater distraction than going with. Perhaps after your lesson I will remove it before heading out to enjoy the garden further."

He turned to Knight Rourke, and bowed his head in greeting, before seeking a seat for his meditation. One of his strongest giftings, was the ability to center himself. Without it, he would find living the life of travel called for by being a Jedi significantly more difficult. It took himself, possibly the shortest time of all there due to his near constant meditations, only a few moments to still his mind and his soul upon the Force. Peace and serenity rolled off of him in almost tangible waves. He would remain as such until either addressed directly or Tey began speaking again.

"We needn't stand on ceremony here: my name is Teynara, and you call call me ‘Tey’, if you wish. Everybody does. We’re all Jedi together, so no need to be formal."

That was different. Very few teachers skipped the rank part of things with their students. He could understand why, they'd earned that rank, but it was still unusual to run into one. Once everyone had arrived - apparently Audren had been the last - she moved away from the clearing, ultimately taking them to a subdued courtyard with seats enough for all of them. And she launched the lesson. No prelude, just lesson.

He could grow to like this method of teaching.

The first part made sense. That was why surgeons and doctors had to spend so much time learning their trade. Exobiology was a rather varied subject, and on a major hub world the doctors could see any of a dozen species a day. Or so he was told. Trust the Force to make things easier: rather than needing specialized knowledge of various species biology, Jedi healers simply utilized that species' native healing mechanisms, essentially shoving them into overdrive if he was interpreting Tey's words correctly.

Tey continued on, explaining briefly about Healing Trances, mitigating pain, neutralizing poisons, bypass sleep deprivation, and staying conscious when likely to do otherwise. Quite the laundry list of subjects, he honestly couldn't see how they would fit all that in today, even if they went all day with the teaching. Fortunately, she decided to start simply enough, with centering one's self.

Given the environs, the meditation to center himself was fairly simple for Audren. He wasn't in a war zone with lives being extinguished all around him, he was in a peaceful garden. To boot, he was surrounded by fellow Jedi, each of whom were working towards centering their own selves. After closing his eyes, he spared a moment to 'watch' the others in their attempts. George and the masked person - the Sephi didn't think he was human under that mask - did so easily; the Force flowed through them smoothly. The young girl also seemed to center herself easily enough, though there seemed to be an echo of boredom about her. Following that split-second viewing, the Sephi centered himself. He'd learned how to do so a few months ago, back when he'd first learned how to touch the Force itself. He didn't radiate peace, nothing about his ageless reserve changed. Yet centered as he was, the Force flowed smoothly through him.

Her pale blue eyes narrowed slightly, Teynara watched as the students slipped into their meditative trances, each running through whichever exercise suited them best to such a purpose. It was ironic that, though every Jedi in the Academy were taught meditation the same way, there were no two that would meditate in the same way. First, take a deep breath, gather up any tension within you, release it with every breath, until you are emptied of stress and anxiety. Tey had been taught that every individual was like a jug: if the jug was filled with thoughts and feelings, there would be no room for the Force to flow. Thus, for a Jedi to use the Force, they had to let go of those residual feelings and extraneous thoughts: at the pinnacle of it all, they had to let go of their very selves, become a vessel of energy that would be moved by the will of the Force. Can’t see that happening that to me any time soon!, she noted ruefully, but the theory was certainly sound.

She waited a little while, feeling the subtle plays of energy around the room. Filled with living plants, the Force was present in an abundance, flowing in ethereal currents that could only be noticed by a small handful of people within the Galaxy, many of them concentrated here. Such a peaceful feeling, to know the Force is always around us, she thought reflectively. But now that the meditative energies within the students were almost becoming playful, it was time once more to draw their attention.

”First, I'd like use to work on neutralising toxins. This doesn't have to refer only to poisons – a Jedi can use such a skill to remove any intoxicating effects from drinking alcohol, for example. I'll leave it to you to come up with some other ways you can use it - that's where you can all get creative”, she mentioned with an amused smile. Wouldn’t be the first cohort to test this out in a local Cantina, or with some sort of recreational medicine. What she had in mind was considerably safer, although sadly wouldn't be nearly as amusing as trying to get them all liquored up.

”When we're ready, I'm going to administer a soporific to each of you,”, gesturing towards the small tray of hypo-syringes. It wasn't an ideal way to teach this lesson, but she'd been unable to come up with a suitable alternative. ”All they will do is make you sleepy, so if it doesn't work…you might fall asleep,” she finished, amused by the thought of one of the Masters dropping by to observe the class, only to discover half of them having fallen asleep on their cushions. ”I made sure to grab some good hypo-syringes, so I promise you’ll barely feel the injection. You've probably had worse from lightsaber training,” Teynara finished, looking at the expressions on their faces. Best to jump ahead and go straight into technique, so nobody has time to panic.

”It does generally help to have a good working knowledge of various different types of toxin or intoxicants to do this, so if you’ve got a basic understanding of Chemistry, this is a lot easier,” the Healer remarked, though she knew most students at the Academy wouldn't have spent much time working on chemical composition or atomic structure. ”But at a simple level, we have two approaches to this: firstly, neutralising a toxin and, secondly, negating the damage it has caused. Allow me to demonstrate.”

Taking one of the hypo-injectors from the metal tray on the table behind her, she brushed her hair off to one side, to expose her neck, then pressed it against her neck and gently squeezed the injector, which fired with a slight hiss, injecting the purple liquid within into her bloodstream. She lowered the injector, immediately feeling slightly woozy – she’d chosen a very potent soporific, if only to ensure that the students would definitely be able to feel the effects. Teynara inhaled a deep breath, feeling her eyes becoming heavy, her thoughts sluggish, and drew upon the energy of the Force to suffuse her cells with restorative energy. The soporific used her bloodstream as a delivery method, so it made sense first to channel the Force along those same pathways, to neutralise the toxin before it influenced her too strongly and caused her concentration to lapse.

”The Force itself is the energy of life: creating and restoring with every breath,” she noted, her voice softer and lower than it had been before, sounding mildly distant as fatigue overtook her and she struggled to fight it off. ”The body recognises toxin and poisons – your liver can eventually filter these out naturally, but some are too potent, and require reinforcement.” Her voice was slowly becoming stronger as she fought off the toxin, neutralising the soporific and allowing it to break down to harmless constituent components in her bloodstream. ”You've all been taught to draw upon Force energy, use it to augment speed, or strength – we must allow our thoughts to create the path by which it travels, to ensure that the energy goes where it is most needed. To the bloodstream, the heart, the liver, the kidneys – wherever the toxin is most likely to affect you.”

Another deep breath, a slow inhale followed by a longer exhale, she opened her eyes, allowing them to focus for a moment before looking at the other Jedi gathered. They probably hadn't followed the fluctuating flow of energy running through her – such was a subtle skill that she knew they would have to learn to become effective Healers, but that would come with time and experience.

”The nature of a soporific is to suppress the central nervous system: inhibits synaptic transmission and metabolic activity. Thus, you have two means of neutralising it: either attack the toxin at point of transmission, since it travels through the bloodstream, or to cleanse it from the brain, since this is the primary point of action,” she noted, half wondering if she might yet have lost her audience. Biology and Chemistry often bore people to death, ironically. ”I'm sorry to make this sound complicated, but Healing is no simple discipline, alas,” she finished.

”We’ll start with just a low dosage of this – channel the Force within, pick the site you intend to focus on healing, and transfer the energy accordingly,” the blonde noted, with a faint smile. ”The key is to focus on the effect you're trying to counter: in this case, you're looking to neutralise the soporific effects of the chemical, so that it doesn't render you unconscious. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask,” the young woman observed, now standing from her sitting position and stepping to be next to the table, so she could administer a soporific to each student as soon as they felt ready for it.

Ryn'Dhal smiled broadly beneath his mask. He'd been through this type of drill many times, and worse, with his Master. But, it never hurt to practice. He waiting till Master [member="Teynara Jeralyr"] reached him, before drawing back his hood, and shifting some of his head wrap aside to reveal her injection site. From her vantage, she would be the only knew to see the coat of fine, black fur on his neck. Definitely not human.

After the hiss of the injector firing off, Ryn went to work, willing and weaving the Forcethrough his being. The sedative screamed through his bloodstream, though not quite as fast as it might have for others. Ryn's control over his own functions was more finely tuned than most, due to extensive training with his Master.

Eventually traces of the sedative, mostly ravaged and eliminated by the Force, reached his brain. His head kicked back almost imperceptibly, as drowsiness kicked in slightly. But, a few more moments of concentration on what his Master taught him, would find the sedative fully eliminated from his system, golden eyes snapping open as he resumed watching Tey, and the rest of the class.

Neutralizing toxins would absolutely be useful. It was difficult to top a rampaging nexu when poisoned by the Arboreal Octopus. It was an amusing thought to use the same power to stop the effects of drinking alcohol, though he had the sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't make the taste any better. The grog he and his friends used to drink in the forest...revolting stuff.

Starting with a soporific made sense. Put them to sleep at worst, unlike a poison which could kill the students should they fail. He was a bit apprehensive at the claim that chemistry would help, as he hadn't paid that much attention to the subject during schooling. He didn't need schooling in chemistry to watch her example, however. While he did pay some attention to her in the physical world - her eyes seemed somewhat heavy and she wavered just slightly - most of his attention was on the Force. Looking too closely in this manner could become uncomfortable for him, as the tangles and swirls of the cables of Force power in each person revealed much about them.

In this case, Audren paid close attention to the injection site. As the hypo was depressed and the purple liquid injected, he saw a sprouting of color in the cables making up her. He couldn't describe the color, could no doubt make it appear whatever color he wanted, but it was enough to distinguish it. As it spread, he saw the welling of Force power that she called upon to combat it. It spread too quickly for him to follow, instead appearing to him to simply infuse the woman. After she opened her eyes and blinked, she gave a short explanation of the two options available with this kind of toxin. Based on what little he'd managed to catch, he was under the impression she'd chosen to burn it from her bloodstream rather than clean it from the brain.

Example complete, it was time to put what he saw into action. He allowed the woman to inject him and mentally paid close attention to himself as she did. The instant the liquid hit his bloodstream he could feel the effects as he started slowing down. Had he been caught unawares, he would have been unable to muster the effort it took to gather the Force power and oppose the liquid. As it stood though, he'd begun gathering the power when seeing the effects on Tey. He began at the injection point, sending as much Force power as he could muster to follow the foreign substance. It didn't burn through the invasion, he had the impression of the Force ripping apart the substance to its most basic particulates. The Padawan's attentions didn't travel as fast as the substance did either, he moved systemically. First up, stopping the small bit that went for the brain, then down for the rest of it. His approach proved to almost be too little as the liquid hit his heart and was suddenly spread throughout his body, but that same action diluted it somewhat and made it less effective. His extremities tingled like they were falling asleep as he neutralized the soporific, and eventually he opened his eyes and returned his focus outward. A full-body shudder followed, a shake to knock out any remaining sleepiness from his body.

The Padawan hadn't timed himself, but had the impression that his attempt had taken much longer than Tey's had. It was in his competitive nature to compare himself with the other learners, but knew that he was lucky to have done what he did - especially on the first attempt - and refrained.

She watched and listened to the instructor very intently. The young girl took in a deep breath, and made an attempt ending with with her failure. This was much more difficult than her instructor made it seem, she stayed in her own little realm for their time to practice ignoring everything going on around. She had to get this, rather she wanted to get this; the young girl wanted to be well rounded in doing that had to improve on her weaknesses such as this.

His breathing was heavy as he bolted down the hallways of the academy, Sweat dripping from his brow as he ran. He was late, Very late, It was only his second class on Voss and he was late, But that happened when you spent all night stealing a starship and being returned to the academy.

He'd woken up still onboard Master Harrison's ship, Still tired from his adventure, And departed the ship immediately when he seen what time it was. The Silver Shadow hanger was on the opposite side of the campus from where his class was and he was already late, All he could do now was hurry and hope he arrived before it was over.

Finally arriving at the gardens he tried his best to catch his breath and enter quietly but only managed to trip over his own feet as he ran, Sending the tiny Togruta crashing into the room and skidding across the floor to land very close to his friend George O Rourke

As George listened to Tey he began to get an understanding of how it all worked. The different ways to combat a poison or toxin within the body. Today everyone would be learning with soporific, at worst he would fall asleep. In case of failure. George watched as Tey demonstrated it. Her eyes grew heavy and could feel it crawling through her and taking affect. But she took back control, eliminating it from her bloodstream moments after it entered. She managed to do it in quite a good time. But now it was everyone else turn to fight off the sleepiness.

As Ryn, Audren and Lily all took their doses and came out reasonably on top it was George's turn. As Tey administered the soporific into his bloodstream something distracted him. A loud crash as a body slid up beside him. He didn't have time to figure out what had happened as it took effect and George's eyes grew heavy, it had reached his brain without even a slight hassle. It was time to fight back, first eliminating it from his brain, allowing him time to fight it off elsewhere. As his eyes closed due to fatigue his mind grew weaker. His put all his focus and energy into allowing the force to penetrate his bloodstream and attack the virus. It grew weaker and George managed to stop the spread allowing himself to remain in a tired state. Until he mustered up the energy to fight off the remaining part of the virus.

He focused and allowed the force to flow through his brain. Eliminating the virus. He slowly regained his composure, opening his eyes as he realized that his body was still numb. He continued to channel the force through his body, destroying any reminiscent of the virus. By the time he had controlled the spread and recovered Ryker had entered the room and was settled in. How long did the process take? Quite a while as the young boy had managed to get himself set whilst George was out.

Returning to her seat once the hypo-injectors had been administered, Teynara had kneltfully on her seat, folding her long skirts beneath her legs, her eyes half-lidded as she observed the students more through the Force than with her eyes. It's a strange thing to see people this way, she thought, feeling herself a little detached from the situation as she opened herself up to the energies around her, sensing the playful motions of it as each of them tried to engage with it to heal themselves of the soporific. Draw it to you, let it do the work, she thought absently.

Two were already showing signs of fighting off the the compound, the sluggishness that she knew would be pervading their muscles slowly being countered by the energy that was essentially burning it off, converting the compounds into something harmless that their bodies could readily absorb without any problem. Every chemical, every molecule chain, every drug...all of it made up of constituent atoms and molecules that are harmless all by themselves. It's only in certain combinations that they are harmful to us, so to neutralise them, we must simply force them to break down. It was simple enough, in theory.

The girl with the red-pink skin was clearly struggling more than the others, so it was upon her that Teynara focused her attentions for a moment. Drawing energy, well enough, but she's not directing it where it needs to do, the Healer noticed. She waited a moment, to see if the girl would rally, but when she failed to, the young woman stood, unfolding her legs, walking softly over to where the Padawan was now sitting, placing one hand gently on the girl's arm, icy-blue eyes watching her intently. She lowered her tone slightly, so that the others might not hear them.

"Don't worry, this isn't easy to figure out," she said softly, her voice commiserrating, but intended to be reassuring in the same moment. "We don't really control the Force, you know," the blonde woman added, as if sharing some monumental secret. "It uses us for it's own purposes. We're just the conduits, the vessels it uses to do it's will. We don't really do the work here: that's for the Force to do," she continued, remembering having to struggle a little with that idea herself. "You must draw upon it and ask the Force to do what you need it to. The more you try to make it do what you want, the more it'll cost you," the Healer finished, knowing that particular problem herself.

It was all rooted down in the nature of how the Jedi 'used' the Force: while it was said that the Sith used their passions and energies to make the Force do their bidding, the Jedi tried to commune with it, to understand the nature of the way that energy flowed, and what it wanted of them, so that they might follow the path that the Force wanted for them. And, in so doing, we gain some understanding of how we might work with the energy that the Force gives us to that end. It had taken her a while to get it, so she was pretty confident that Lily could...

Her thoughts were interrupted by an almighty crash, coming suddenly from out of nowhere and with as little fanfare as a Bantha stampede. One moment, silence, punctuated only be her own soft words and the carefully-controlled breathing of the students... the next, a loud crash and a clear sense of disruption in the room. She turned, looking towards the source, noticing now a young Togrutan student having, well...slid into the room, bundled at the feet of the Nautolan Jedi, clearly looking a little dazed.

Shaking her head in bemusement, she walked over to the boy, the heels of her boots clicking softly against the polished stone floor. "Having fun down there?", she asked him softly, a faint smile curving her lips, her hands resting against her hips in a manner designed to make it clear that he was interrupting them. "You're a little late to be making that sort of an entrance," the blonde added.

"Don't worry if this doesn't come easily to you," she remarked a little louder, turning back to the others. "I've seen Healers spend the better part of a day meditating through a cleansing. Which leads us to our next technique: the Jedi Healing Trance." Teynara turned away from the little Togrutan, returning to her seat and looking back at the rest of the room. "Anyone heard of this, or know what it does?"

Not long after Audren opened his eyes, a small being rushed into the room quite energetically; in this case that also meant noisily. Either it was a fan of flashy entrances or it had tripped just before entering the room, as it slid in rather than walking or running. Quite amusing, actually, especially given the child wasn't hurt. If it was a child, of course. Non-Sephi aged at their own rate and their sizes varied wildly to say the least.

"Don't worry if this doesn't come easily to you. I've seen Healers spend the better part of a day meditating through a cleansing. Which leads us to our next technique: the Jedi Healing Trance. Anyone heard of this, or know what it does?"

For a moment there was silence, each apparently thinking another would answer. Personally, Audren hated it when these kinds of silences happened. Back in classes, he typically didn't have an answer. If he did, it wasn't a good one. This time he had an answer, and was very much aware it wasn't a good one. His patience with the pause had grown thin, however.

"Only when you spoke of it earlier. I believe you said something along the lines of 'a restoring sleep until the damage is healed' or something similar to that."

Hey, it was an answer.

Ryn'Dhal couldn't refrain from giving a slight tilt of his masked face, as he watched his little friend Ryker crash into the area like a stricken fighter into a cruiser. Dramatic. It took every last ounce of discipline in his entire being to refrain from giving a soft chortle. But, thankful for his mask, a broad grin bloomed on his face.

Attention though, eventually returned to Master Jeralyr. He had hoped another would have more insight than his own limited information. After his fellow padawan, Audren, spoke his turn, Ryn hesitantly lifted a gloved hand, directing attention to himself with the motion to eliminate the need of speaking loudly.

"My Master taught me a little of the theory, but I have not yet had any practical experience with that aspect of Healing."

His hand lowered again, as golden eyes danced from face to face nervously. He hoped he hadn't spoken out of turn.

"Come on, Lily, come on..." The young zeltron said to herself as she continued to make her attempt. She had closed her eyes and took in a deep breathing continuing to do her very best to follow the master's simple instructions but to no avail. Despite her own force training she hadn't a clue on how to continue this. Before long, the gentle voice of her master entered her ears. She lightly bit her lower lip to stop the gasp from being released from her lips. Showing slight surprise she raised her head and opened her eyes widely, a slight blush to her already rose cheeks. This was slightly embarrassing having feel like she was the only one really struggling with the lesson thus far. The young girl let out a sigh, listening to the master's words.

Interesting.

That was one way to look at things, draw upon the force but yet not control it? Her words echoed through Lily's mind leaving more questions about the force mostly because her other masters all had different ideals about the force. With all the questions in her mind one stood out the most relevant to the lesson; How did one possibly go by that? Drawing upon the force but yet not truly controlling it? Did she have she have to ask it politely to heal? No. That would stupid question. She looked to the blonde with eyes of worry for a moment before shaking it off and giving her a grin followed by a determine nod before the blonde made her way to give the others the needed attention.

She was going to get this down!

The young girl continued to practice in silent, he mind on her own design focused on the task at hand. She closed her eyes and took in her a deep and slow breath doing the minor for of the healing trance without realizing. She couldn't let the blonde down after she gave her that moral support though seemingly minor; the young padawan took these kind of things to heart. Feeling it as if a heart warming experience, but that was just the way she was. Last thing she ever wanted was to let anyone down who gave her the time of day. "Come on, Lily, focus...You can do this....breathe and draw on the force. You are the conduit." After having that last though, the young girl cleared her mind and let the force flow through her.
