The shining core of Azar City, and currently the very heart of Aurum, Hearthfire Biogenetics is a company dedicated to unlocking the secrets of DNA and life's very meaning; why scour the Galaxy in search of strange and unusual beings when you can create them in a controlled, clinical setting, where any bugs can be fixed or altered to the benefit of creation or creator? Why worry over the possibility of genetic defects in embryos, or diseases hidden from plain sight? Infinite possibilities are hidden away behind the sluggish confines of evolution, and Hearthfire Biogenetics seeks to expedite this process in search of a perfect being.
Hearthfire Tower sits at the center of Azar City, and reaches staggering heights - capable of being viewed from almost every sector of the City. Every scientist known to Aurum belongs to the corporation, and while the tower specializes in biology it features wings dedicated to every branch of known science. Each member of the Tower workforce has their DNA on record, and this is used not only to keep track of them but also to grant them access to their specific sectors, and keep them out of areas that are restricted to them.
Technically speaking Hearthfire Biogenetics is neither benevolent or malevolent as companies go, though many would view them as somewhat Authoritarian where their employees are concerned. Their loyalties lie specifically with the High Queen of Aurum, and currently they do not operate with any Major Faction in the Galaxy. Despite being a large presence on world, in Galactic Terms they are largely insignificant and unheard of, just another team of scientists seeking to mess with the Galaxy's natural order.
Ongoing operations are deemed top secret and not spoken about outside of the central authorities.
RATIONALE
While Kära has always dabbled in Genetic Engineering, with her first born child Mysa clear evidence of such, as well as the process of cloning, it wasn't until her return to Aurum that she truly delved into the art of Biologically Engineering species', splicing DNA, and Alchemy in the Biological sense. The creation of her clones, including the now-HRD Zarathustra, led her down a rabbit hole, and in time the newly 'perfected' Kyrosi came into their own.
Until this point she had been running out of her scientists' laboratories, utilizing their resources, their knowledge, but the realization of what could be made possible with further investment led to the formation of Hearthfire Biogenetics, a specific branch run out of the newly reconstructed Azar City on Aurum. Money from past investments went into the state of the art facility, which acts as not only her laboratory but the scientific heart of Aurum. While still small in comparison to the majority of similar companies, it is her hope that in time the corporation will grow.
Where Hearthfire Forge was a product of passion and creativity, Hearthfire Biogenetics acts as a tool with which to test the very foundations of life, to satiate Kära's curious nature, and her desire to bring order to the otherwise chaotic process of natural selection and evolution.
