Setting.png

  • Structure Name: Heaven’s Gate
  • Classification: Residence
  • Location: Thyferra
  • Affiliation: Daegon Corvinus, Seraphina Corvinus, Confederacy of Independent Systems
  • Accessibility: The location is not easily accessible to the public. Daegon prefers his seclusion and the security benefits of being hidden away in the mountains. Aside from a private landing pad which is a relative secret, the only way to reach the chateau is through the crystal forest which surrounds the residence.
  • Description: Heaven’s Gate is a marvel of architectural genius. The majority of the chateau is cut from the stone of the mountain itself, repurposed, and features ornate arches and pillars. Transparisteel windows provide safety from the harsher outdoor elements. Stone statues of winged-diathim frame a durasteel doorway which serves as an entrance into the Heaven’s Gate. The expansive home uses the massive landmark itself as the main structure and security.

Surrounding the structure is a maze, a crystal forest, with shining trees that have been planted in optimal patterns. The area can be extremely difficult to navigate and the resonating sound, a low hum, can be a little disorienting. These trees are beautiful to the eye, boasting various hues of pinks, purples, and blues. Their reflective nature captures shifting rays of light which seem to ricochet off the rivers and waterfalls which dance about the forest perimeter itself. It gives the entire property a glimmering glow that makes it seem like it was snapped right from a younglings picture book.

  • Crystal Forest: When Heaven’s Gate was first built it was discovered that there was a vast crystal forest within the mountain that they had partially excavated to begin building. Seraphina was absolutely delighted by the shifting colors and sparkling crystallizations that lay within, so rather than to destroy it, Daegon found a way to transplant as much of it as he could. The strange objects seemed as if they may not be entirely mineral and for quite awhile he didn’t think it would survive the change in environment. With careful tending and a watchful eye the crystal formations took root and began to spread. The iridescent solidifications grow alongside other trees and within them to create this marvel of Thyferran nature. The majority of the forest was transplanted around the main entrance to the chateau, however, it has since spread out over the last decade to form an intricate maze. It casts marvelous hues of pinks, purples, and blues, when the sun is high. The crystals do emanate a low resonating hum that can be disconcerting, and the reflective fractals can make it easy to get lost if one doesn’t know the way.

  • Stone Garden: In the very center of the Crystal Forest is a hidden garden of stone that contains several angelic statues that seem to be guarding the area. Some visitors will swear that the faces of the statues change from one moment to the next, however, Seraphina will laughingly assure them that they are exactly what they were intended to be. There are sand-stone flower beds to allow various types of flora to be planted and admired, creating the perfect environment for relaxation. It is a very secluded, very peaceful location, that can be easily missed while trying to navigate the crystalline forest that it lays within.

  • The Terrace: This area of relaxation and respite overlooks the river which leads to a small pool in the back courtyard of the Chateau. It is colored in soft shades of dusky rose, sandstone, and accented with imported marble. It is clear when viewing the area that someone took a lot of time to design every nook and cranny. There are hand carved designs in the railings and plenty of places to enjoy a quiet day in the sunshine. The patio serves as the primary place where Daegon and Seraphina entertain singular guests, or find a private moment, far away, from the prying eyes of domestic staff.

  • Private Landing Pad: Serving as the primary method of entering and leaving the chateau for Daegon, Seraphina, and their guests, this landing pad is in a discrete and secure location. From a distance it seems that the landing pad is further away than it actually is leading to the notion that it may or may not be there. Only pilots who know what to look for and have the proper landing clearance will be able to dock safely. The main portion of the pad itself is outdoors and protected by the chateau’s anti-aircraft defenses.

  • Main Hall: This is the first area that anyone sees upon first walking into the chateau from the main entrance. They are guided in by angelic statues that give credence to a certain level of opulence that can be expected. There are two staircases that lead to opposing wings in the center of the room which contains enough space for seating and general entertaining. Often, in colder weather they will take a warm beverage in this area whilst waiting for their limbs to thaw out. Daegon can be seen challenging one of his few friends to a game of chess or sabacc while Seraphina provides pastries or wine for refreshments. In more difficult times they can host members of Thyferran political parties in this location for brief, emergency meetings.

  • Dining Hall: This room serves as the primary venue for entertaining formal dinner parties rather than simple engagements. The table is made of a dark varnished wood with modern table runners and matching round-backed chairs. It boasts eye-catching patterns and art that Daegon has collected for Seraphina over the years. It is rarely used, to be truthful, but is kept in perfect order as one never knows when it might be needed.

  • Library: This area is typically used more than any other. Seraphina loves her books, and Daegon loves to study and learn. Her collection of novels fills the white library and there are several desks located throughout the room for private reading. There are soft chairs and quiet fireplaces with comfortable fur rugs that beg someone to take a seat, curl up, and enjoy a good book throughout the evening. Seraphina prefers to hold a paper-bound book rather than a Holo-Doc but there are still plenty to be found. The windows can be opened to let the light in and there are also copious maps of Thyferra littering the area. There is a Holo-Table that will project a map of the planet, as it is currently known, but it actively tracks the terraforming of Thyferra. From here they can monitor progress, troubleshoot, and solve problems with the project. When Daegon works from Heaven’s Gate, the Library is often where he will be found.

  • Ballroom: To the south side of the main hall lies a grand and majestic ballroom. It is equipped with an expansive dance floor and high, vaulted, dome ceilings, that create the perfect environment for large parties and elegant soirées. On the rare occasion the home is open for large events it holds a romantic and dreamy atmosphere that most find entirely charming. It is highly polished, well-lit, and either a live orchestra can be provided or pre-recorded music can be streamed through the sound system. Often, Daegon and Seraphina will retire to the ballroom to dance the evening away. Sometimes with music, sometimes, without.

  • Deagon’s Bedroom: The theme of this room is quite dark and seems to exemplify the traits of the Demon of Thyferra. This area is spacious, with high ceilings, and gray walls. The headboard and raised paneling seem almost gothic in appearance and even the windows seem to fail to provide adequate light. It is a very modern and spartan take on sleeping quarters and serves as the primary bedchamber to be shared by the Viceroy and his wife. There are random items that are out of place. A delicate hand mirror on the nightstand, or, a small music box to hold earrings. These obviously belong to Seraphina. They rarely ever wish to be apart from each other, even in sleep, and it shows from the small pieces of herself that she leaves behind.

  • Seraphina’s Bedroom: Designed to reflect the angelic nature of his bride, Daegon created these quarters with the intent of allowing Seraphina her own space. When she first arrived to his care she had been skittish. Nervous. Uncertain, of what would be expected of her in taking on the role of a new wife. Daegon had immediately understood and created a haven for her. A place that he did not enter unless she wished him to. He pulled inspiration from the softest silks for window coverings and an almost carriage-like bed frame. The colors range from white, to blue, to silver—But Daegon never stopped her from adding her own personal touches. She has a vanity and a walk-in closet that is nearly the same size as the room.

  • Sitting Room: Both bedrooms are connected by a shared seating area which serves as the primary place where Deagon and Sera spend their mornings and unwind for the day. The comfortable and spacious room contains a wet bar and several shelves of books, as well as a smaller room off to the side where musical instruments can be found for the moments the pair are in a musical mood. With Seraphina about, this is often.

  • Master Bath: The floorplan is rather circular and both bedrooms are also connected by a master refresher containing a private soaker tub, large walk in shower, and his and her sinks. The rather cold flooring was replaced with heated tile when Daegon caught Seraphina skipping across it on her tip-toes because she was too chilled to let her feet actually touch the floor. As amusing as it was—He held no desire to see his diathim-wife with frost bitten toes.

  • Domestic Quarters: This wing of the chateau features fully furnished apartments for any of the domestic staff currently on their service. Since the majority of the staff in Heaven’s Gate are droids, there aren’t many apartments, but Seraphina is more comfortable with an organic element in the home. The fact that most of the staff are inorganic has allowed Daegon to do the one thing Seraphina requested, their staff would be paid well, and live well. She is very fond of all of them and often spends her days when Daegon is busy, doing house-hold things with them, versus watching them work. She likes to learn, feel useful, and her sweet disposition tends to make others more than happy to teach her. The first thing she learned to make after arriving on Thyferra was a namana custard tart.

  • Hangar Bay: The underground hangar bay is hidden deep within the side of the mountain. A massive door covered in the stone that had been removed carefully during construction, had been rebuilt, to emulate a natural rock face. It was deliberately kept this way to ensure that the entrance and exit remained hidden from any that would pass by. In times of emergency fighters and stealth craft can be deployed in a relatively swift manner. There are hidden turbo-lifts throughout Heaven’s Gate designed to evacuate any personnel on the premises in the event of an attack.

Maximum

Internal Security:

External Security:
  • Private Security: B3 Battle Droids
  • Main structure is built into the mountain
  • Impervium-334 armor plating installed under the stone
  • G-003 Tri-Tracker Air Defense Batteries
  • Ground Based Anti-Aircraft Laser Canon
  • Deflector Shield protects the entire mountain from aerial bombardment
  • Echo Series Missile Launcher
  • Crystal Forest: The crystal formations (with similar properties to these) in the forest can amplify certain sounds that can create a devastating echo chamber if the correct pitch is hit. It is also very easy to get lost in, and the crystals produce a natural hum that can be disorienting if the listener isn’t used to it.

Historical.png

Heaven’s Gate is a fairly recent construction in regards to the history of Thyferra. While he was unmarried, Daegon had been content to live in the owner’s suite which made up the entire top floor of the Xucphra Corporation headquarters. The Bacta Mogul had no need of anything more opulent in life, not for himself anyway. All that changed when he met Seraphina.

Before they were married, Daegon was determined to have a home ready for her. “A princess does not belong locked at the top of some tower,” Daegon would often tell Seraphina in those moments that she insisted she would be happy regardless of the home he provided. Perhaps he had his own notions of what would make her happy, but Daegon refused to make Seraphina settle if it was within his power and ability to give her the best things life had to offer. Not a single credit was spared, all of it coming from Daegon’s personal account, and the dowry he received for his engagement to Serpahina. This would not be a home that was paid for by the people of Thyferra, but rather this would be a gift to his angel.

As such the home boasts architecture which many would describe as celestial. The colors and themes mimic the beauty of many artists' rendition of the afterlife. Windows litter the structure to allow natural light to brighten up the interior as well as to allow a generous view of the stars at night. There is only one room in the entire chateau which is befitting of the darkness which grips Daegon’s soul. His chambers were made to reflect him, dark, brooding, yet still handsome and ornate.

It was not a difficult matter to divert manpower away from some of the terraforming projects which Daegon had already begun on Thyferra. The planet had been devastated, twice, by the hands of the Sith. Xucphra City, home to the Xucphra Corporation (site link) had seen the worst of it. While the Galactic Alliance had done their best to begin reconstruction, they too eventually fell at the hands of the Sith. The task to complete what they had begun fell to Daegon and the Xucphra Corporation. The time and care he spent in casting a grand vision for what the world could be, afforded him the opportunity to ask for the use of unutilized terraforming equipment.

The project took longer than Daegon had hoped, three months beyond schedule. Blasting into the side of a mountain was still precarious work even with the advances in technology and the terraforming equipment which was made available. Crystal deposits which had formed in the rock proved to be difficult to break through, leading to a startling discovery, deep inside the mountain lay what appeared to be a crystal forest. Terraforming efforts uncovered the secrets Thyferra had been hiding for millennia. This discovery had given the shrewd Viceroy an idea.

Transplanting the forest was not easy work, but using the stone and crystal trees which were discovered during the excavation, Daegon surrounded the only path to the Chateau with a crystal forest, at the center of which lay a stone garden. There were moments in her past where Daegon would find Seraphina sitting in her garden simply reading or singing. With the trees planted just right, the forest would serve to amplify her voice, adding to the mystery and beauty of her song. And should the need ever arise to defend their home, her scream could echo through the forest in a devastating manner.

Moving the forest allowed Daegon to build a hangar inside the mountain, one which remains a secret to all but a select few. The turbolifts in the main hall and the Master Wing both lead to the underground hangar though neither would indicate there is another level below the main. Being able to keep Seraphina safe was as important to Daegon as keeping her happy, as such the home was built with the finest security credits could buy. While much of the security provisions were left subtle, the Chateau is more than adequately protected.

Despite the delays, the Demon had his wish however, and on the day the newly married couple had been scheduled to arrive on Thyferra, Heaven’s Gate was complete, and The Demon of Thyferra was able to carry his new bride into their home.

Hello! I'll be doing a primary revision of this sub. I'm a trainee codex judge, so this will require secondary approval.

This is a beautifully written sub and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, but there's one thing we need to address before I can stamp it.

  • Sadly, I will have to ask you to remove or change the sub's header image. As per the codex rules:
    • If the owner of an image or a musical piece asks you to take it down, please do so.

When checking the credit link back to the original source, the artist states:
You can NOT use my artworks for any type of sell or publication without my written permission.
My work may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my written permission.
  • The picture for the stone garden is linked to a Reddit post, which is not an appropriate credit source. Luckily, I could find a link to the original artwork in the artist's page: Stone Garden by Minnhagen. Please use this instead of the present link.
  • Same issue as before with the artwork for the Terrace, please remove or change it.

Besides that, wonderful work!
