Looking to nudge their way into yet another market to produce cash in the design team at Hekler'Kok began to work on a few sets of armor to edge them back into the armor market after having been out of it a long while. A few armor ideas were agreed upon but the first product they would design would be a lightweight, minimalist armor that could be used as either a armor or a load carrying vest for noncombat/combat scenarios. For this they decided that a blast vest/plate carrier and helmet combo would answer their question.
With this decided they began work on choosing the materials that they would implement into the armor. The vest was constructed out of Armorweave for its high protective quality. The helmet was constructed out of Plastoid due to its protective qualities as well but also because its rigidity was better suited for head protection. The protective insert plates were made of overlapping Plastoid and Ceramic discs, Plastoid for blaster protection and Ceramic Carbide for ballistic protection. Finally both the vest and helmet were padded with BioGel to give the user more comfort.
With the materials implemented in the design team next began working on what features they would incorporate into the design. The helmet comes with an optional visor that can act as a pair of macrobinoculars, infrared or thermal imaging and a rudimentary heads up display. Optional armor plates can be inserted into the front, back and sides of the vest to provide further protection. Laser-cut vest webbing allows for the carrying of pouches for ammo, grenades and utility items. A drag handle on the back of the vest allows the wearer to be pulled if wounded, incapacitated or needs to be moved in general A set of quick release pull tabs on the vest allow it to be quickly removed to get it off for both storage and wound treatment.
A 4-point helmet chinstrap makes for secure wearing of the helmet. A mounting bracket on the front of the front of the helmet allows the visor to be mounted in a easy to manipulate place. Rails on the side of the helmet allow for things such as flashlights, IR beacons, video recorders and various other accessories to be mounted to the helmet. Finally the vest and helmet were padded with BioGel to give at least some protection from concussive forces.
