- Top Attack Design: While its little brother is designed as a straight firing weapon the HAA/AL-01 is designed to fire upwards and the attack vehicles from above, where the armor is typically the weakest
- Upgraded Warhead: An upgrade from its little brother the HAA/AL-01 features an expanded triple tandem-charge warhead that consists of an Ion charge to disable shields, a simple high explosive charge to detonate an supplemental reactive armor and finally a high explosive anti-tank charge to actually deal damage to the vehicle
- Fire and Forget: Thankfully due to the way the HAA/AL-01 targeting system works the user can simply acquire their target, fire the launcher and then leave the area
- One Shot Wonder: While the targeting unit can be re-used each missile tube can only be used once and will need to be discarded once used
- Big Ol' Launcher: As you would expect with a missile launcher the HAA/AL-01 is a massively large and massively heavy piece of equipment
- Smoke Trail: A big downside of the launcher is the telltale smoke trail that the missile produces when fired that can be easily traced to its source
With the successful sale and marketing of the AA/AL-01 some customers began to express an interest in acquiring a larger derivative of the launcher for taking out more heavily armored fortifications and vehicles. With this in mind the Hekler'Kok design team began work on the larger derivative.
The first step was deciding on what type of missile to use for the launcher. The obvious choice was to upgrade the missile in comparison to the missile used in the AA/AL-01. To upgrade it they increased the missile size from 70mm to almost double at 120mm and they replaced the tandem charge warhead with a triple charge warhead, supplementing the regular Ion and HEAT warheads with a HE warhead designed to help it cope better with reactive armor.
With the upgrades out of the way the design team began work on the materials they'd use in the launcher, of which they decided to keep the same Titanium-Alusteel alloy they utilize in most of their products and your typical missile launcher components. When it came to features there wasn't much space that the team had to work with but they did their best. They added in an infrared targeting system so targets could be acquired in a vast degree of conditions, a two stage propulsion system allows the warhead to hit targets at a considerably longer range than a single stage system and lastly the added a fire selector to the launcher that allows the user to fire in its standard top-attack pattern or in more conventional straight pattern.
