- Battlefield Range: One of the necessities of a sniper rifle is having a significant range and the SR-01 achieves this with the use of a long barrel and the cartridge it uses
- Very High Stopping Power: Along with the range advantages of the 8.58x69 cartridge used it also lends the SR-01 to having a significant amount of stopping power

After finishing up with the machine guns for their new weapons line-up the Hekler'Kok design team moved away from the high firepower weapons and moved towards high accuracy weapon and as such began work on the Sniper Rifle-Model 01. First thing first was they needed was to decide on a design for the rifle and they decided to go with the same route as with the BR-01 and simply beefed up the BR-01 to chamber a larger cartridge and be more effective at longer range. After this they moved onto the materials and for the most part they kept them the same as the BR-01 except for replacing the barrel with a heavier, and therefore more accurate, barrel made instead of Quadanium steel.
After this they finished the design process by deciding on the features they would put into the rifle. Like always the incorporated fully ambidextrous controls into the rifle to make it more comfortable for all shooters. They replaced the telescoping buttstock of the BR-01 with a folding stock with a cheek riser, the folding stock to make is easier to transport and the cheek riser for comfort of the shooters. Optic, accessory and grip/bipod rails we're added to allow users to customize the rifle as they see fit. As well as replacing the old barrel with a heavy barrel they threaded it to allow suppressors and other muzzle devices. The stock added was made wider to allow the inclusion of an extra recoil buffer to keep recoil down and finally they reused the same short stroke gas piston used in the AR-01 and BR-01 for its reliability.
