HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Helix Solutions' fleet began around the same time as the faction as a whole, and some of the older vessels have been around nearly as long.

Due to the ongoing period of modernization in Helix's organization as a whole, most of the vessels are modern, well-armed, well-crewed, and relatively numerous for a minor power. Older vessels are routinely retrofitted into new models, or scrapped when they can't be.

It's rare for the fleet to be all in one place at one time, as typically the vessels are scattered all over the galaxy, aiding various clients or performing tasks such as collecting resources. As such, the amount of force it can deploy can vary widely, from numerous ships able to turn the tide of a battle, to only one or two small frigates.

Formidable though this fleet may be, Helix is well aware that should they draw the ire of a major player, they will lose simply on logistics alone. As such, the fleet rarely stays in one place long, jumping from sector to sector as business needs demand, occasionally engaging in piracy to steal resources when times are lean. Being a mobile flotilla with no permanent port of call, any clients who can offer refueling and repairs as part of the bargain are looked upon very favorably, and often receive sharply discounted rates for service.

When so contracted, the fleet performs well, with heavily armed and defended ships leaning very strongly on quality when they can't lean on quantity. Helix cannot afford to maintain too many ships relative to some, but those they can maintain tend to be highly dangerous, crewed by advanced droids and equipped with often bizarre and exotic weaponry and defenses.
