Prennis didn't make the same mistake she had made all those years ago when she had first met Grand Admiral Rausberger on the FIV Malice for the first time: she had taken a tranquilizer stim this time around. Not that it helped very much, though, at least not the small amount meant to insure her work would not be impeded.

As soon as the nurse stepped into the main lobby, her shiny new ID card catching some light as it swung in its lanyard around her neck, she began to almost frantically observe her surroundings. Yes, Mercy Learning Hospital in Chasin City, Commenor had been plenty big itself, but there was something about the Halls here that triggered a slew of memories all at once: some welcome and some not.

Most not. Maybe it was the overt factionalism, of which the neutral Commenor lacked, and that was crushing.

In that way, it felt like she was a few years younger wearing her own skin on First Imperial Medical Station Mountbatten. But she knew better, for the open architecture and absence of faction shields on the dull metal walls and the species diversity of passersby and the planetside locale. Still, the hair on the back of her neck stood up as she tried not to grip her datapad so hard that she knuckles might turn white. With every step, her gut told her to turn and run but she pushed on. She couldn't--wouldn't--disappoint Cassius. He had sacrificed too much to give her a new life, the one she was convinced she wanted. Comfort, some sense of normalcy, just seemed so far away.

This was the first step towards at least that. She just needed to hold on.

Prennis shook her head, trying to focus. Do no harm, she mused. It wouldn't be that hard, right? Even for the Supreme Leader, she hadn't reaped that much harm, had she? I mean, she did know how to follow her oath, didn't she?

No.

Dagobah. Fondor. Sullust. Oh, Force forgive her. Sullust.

A complicit doctor is worse than an unethical doctor, much worse--tyrannical, even. Then, she lived up to her adopted name: Terrani. Forgiveness of her wrongs seemed too big a thing to ask of the Jedi, and that was why she hadn't and planned never to ask, but maybe she might be able to reach her own. By giving herself another chance in the medical field as a nurse, Prennis sorely hoped so.

With another shake of her head, just in time as she approached a holographic map, and dropped a finger to trace the path she needed to take to her new med-surg unit. She had no idea who she would be working with, Jedi or other physicians, but she'd find out soon enough.

The Halls of Healing had become more of a home for the young Doctor. He spent more time here than back at his room with in the temple walls. It probably would have made more sense for him to purchase an apartment of sorts, but he did enjoy the simplicity of “dorm” life in the temple. It also meant he didn’t have to worry about transportation to the Halls. His bike was enough for the commute from the dormitories that the master’s were housed in – those that decided to stay on property. Though the bike that leaned against one of the trees had already started to rust slightly – having not moved for quite some time.

It had been a long evening for the Doctor, not because there were patients, it was because he was too busy working on his own research project. A virus that had plagued a small colony during an investigation by the Rangers. Hyonu had taken a liking (if that was even the right term) to the virus and had begun his endless nights of research. The watch on his wrist started to vibrate, it caught his attention and he pulled up from his microscope and looked at it. It was time to eat something – having set the watch to alert him, Hyonu had stopped missing meals, which kept him in a more pleasant state.

Getting up, the man paused and slowly stood straight. His face wincing as he did so while the sound of popping echoed the small lab room. It sounded as if someone was stepping on bubble wrap. “AISH” He cursed quietly and rubbed his lower back. A hand gently tousled his hair, fluffing it to make it look more presentable. Donning a white coat he headed down towards the cafeteria, his tie swaying back and forth as he walked with determination.

“Doctor!” A short woman ran behind him and caught up to him. Hunching over as he stopped, she waved her hand trying to gesture that she needed a minute. It was obvious she ahd been chasing him for some time. “Doctor Ye” She spoke breathless. “What?” He looked at her puzzled not understanding her urgency when she could have just paged him. “New Nurse – you’re – you’re supposed to meet her.”

Like a confused puppy, Hyonu tilted his head while the nurse continued to explain. After she finished she handed over some information on a Prenntis Keeoli. Hyonu peered at it and, “No. Good bye Nurse Roxane.” He spoke flatly and then wandered back to what he was doing. The Nurse blinked and sighed, then did her best to forward the Doctor’s name and a picture of him to Prenntis, so she would be on the look out for the reluctant man.

Ms. Keeoli,

Please be on the look out for a Doctor Hyonu Ye. He is going to be the one to show you around and you’ll be working with him for the time being. I’ve attached an image of the doctor (Please forgive the quality and the look on his face, I caught him by surprise).

Also, he’s a little rough around the edges, don’t take anything he says to heart.

Welcome to the Halls of Healing!

Looking around at the coming and going staff, it was made clear that Prennis hadn't chosen the best scrubs from her modest collection to blend in. Nature colors hadn't been the right way to go in the face of mostly steely blues and greys.

The datapad in her arms chirped due to Roxane's message and Prenn powered it up to read. Hyonu Ye? She made a note of both his name and visage, thanks to the included picture, before turning off the pad altogether. She had a mental image of the path to the unit too, she thought, so she turned on her heels and walked down a corridor. That way, it turned out, led to the garden atrium, but it did end up connecting with med-surg in a roundabout way that took twenty minutes. The already-mentally-and-physically-exhausted nurse pushed her way from reception into the unit itself. She paused a moment to catch her breath and calm her nerves.

Hyonu Ye. Did he have an office in the wing? It was worthwhile to check at least. She wandered past exam and patient rooms alike until she got to doctor/healer offices. Most of them were empty when she peered in, and the further down the hall she got, the more lost she started feeling. If worse came to worse, she might be able to get someone to page him for her.

A little pep in his step had the doctor bouncing happily as he held his bowl of curry and rice. He was always fond of the food in the cafeteria, it was satisfying and always warm. They seemed to always have what he was craving which was another bonus. Today was beautiful curry, vegetables and rice. Hyonu hummed happily to himself as he headed back towards the offices. Around this time his colleagues ended up in the lounge area, they liked to eat together, gossip along with other things that are depicted on medical dramas on the holonet.

The doctor laughed to himself as he made a joke quietly and scoffed at his silly mind. How silly those shows were, how could any hospital run like that? He especially didn’t understand the overly oblivious intellectual type that had an ego about his intelligence and a knack for being outlandish in the way they did something. Hyonu thought again quietly, how could someone like that even exist? Making his way to his door, he noted a blonde woman he had never seen before poking her nose around the offices.

He ducked behind one of the corners and watched her, his mind raced with the possibilities of who she could be. Remembering the one episode of a medical drama, the woman who was found by the offices was looking for a doctor that saved her life, she was in love with him, but he had lost his memory. The doctor gasped as he shoved some curry into his mouth and watched her. “Maybe.” He whispered and continued to watch, until he realized he was…

…uncomfortable.
Standing behind the corner meant he had to stand longer than he wanted, so he turned the corner and stood behind her. With a bit of curry clinging to the corner of his lips, he coughed loudly, “Hello, can I help you?” Hyonu stood there blinking, wonder what he story was for being a snooper.

Prennis just about dropped her datapad when she jumped at the sudden voice behind her. Quickly and as coolly as she could, she swept the wispy bangs that had flown in front of her face back behind her ears and turned around. "Oh!" she exclaimed as she did, pausing briefly to look over the doctor.

She recognized him quickly and, shifting her datapad to her other hand, offered her right to shake. "Ahem, hello." A smooth enough correction she hoped. "Nurse Prennis Keeoli. Doctor Ye, I presume? So sorry for the intrusion. Nurse Roxane told me to come find you."

“Nurse Roxane?” The doctor blinked confused at her mentioning of the Nurse. After a moment of awkward silence, Hyonu nodded and remembered the woman that had chased him down a bit ago. “Oh, Nurse Roxane.” Her had was offered out as she had introduced herself, but the man had his curry and beverage in his hands. Another moment of awkward silence, the he remembered he had pockets. The can of juice was shoved into his pocket and a chilled hand grasped her out reached hand and a firm shake, 1, 2, 3…and it was done.

“You’re a nurse, what a relief. We can talk more in my office, and yes I’m Doctor Ye.” Slipping by her, he reached his office door and opened it. As she would enter she’d notice the organized books and journals aligning the office walls. His desk would be in the most pristine shape, but behind him there was a board with scribbles of formulas and other experimental data just in a gaggle of a mess that only he understood.

A hand offered a seat and he took his own. He put aside his juice and curry for the moment and folded his hands on his desk. “Nurse Roxane said I was your point of contact, so I guess tell me a little about yourself.”

Good going, there, Prenn, she scolded herself after their first exchange passed, as she walked into the doctor's office and took a seat where indicated to.

Tell him about herself? Yes, she could do that. It had gotten easier and easier to recall her fabricated past over the months she had been living outside of First Order space. "Certainly," she replied without missing a beat. "I have a Bachelors of Nursing from Coruscant's Medical Academy and was seeking a Masters from the University of Commenor. Knight Cassius Droma came to Chasin City after the recent dissolution of the monarchy, to help keep the peace." She paused to give him time to follow, crossing her legs and crossing her hands over her datapad. "I'm sure you know, there were a few civic threats and bombings. Awful stuff, but Knight Droma got to see me in action, I suppose, and he offered me a job here.

"My specialties are primary care and emergency medicine," she continued, "though I've operated as well. Nothing like a specialist though."

A quick flash. What if she told him the truth?

No.
