Hello! I'm completely new to roleplaying but I'm looking forward to trying it out. Someone I know said it was almost the same as writing a short story. I can't wait to get stuck in! Any advice or help will be 100% welcome at all times

Some advice, since you asked:
1. It's all about cooperation! Work with people, and find people who work with you; roll with the punches and try to have fun. We are all here to have fun.
2. Remember that no one can kill your character without your consent and ultimately you decide what damage you take. It's great to take hits, but don't let others push damage on you without your consent.
3. Talk to people! OOC communication is so important. Whether through PM or on Discord, communicate with people as you write with them, and you will find it much easier for the both of you to get what you want. Also, you'll find it much easier to find RP that way.

Sometimes there aren't definitive answers without more question.
What do you mean by community? A species, a given planet, a faction on a planet? These are all possible, and how you go about it depends on what you want to do

Thanks for replying! Completely fair. I wasn't really sure how to word it. I suppose I mean a faction? Not a whole different species as I just want them to be human but a new group of people who have their own history, notable events, ways of learning, customs, etc. Sorry, I can't find a way to word it where it makes sense, lol.

Still no definitive answer but...
If they're human and no discernible differences to the average human, and you're happy to have them come from a known planet on the map, feel free to do pretty much what you like.
If you want to make it more formal, you can go here and create a record of their history, customs etc. You can even create a new planet if you want this way.
