Maybe one question, when is my starting point? The timelines say something about 800 ABY and is there lore I have to consider for by background? I would like to create an empire style naval officer which would then serve for example in the New Imperial Order (one of the factions I spotted). Since it´s far ahead of the Legends and Canon Story.

Actually, what you find on the faction side, and it’s a good idea to ask them on discord what to consider when you creating a character.

It has the board's history, but for canon/legends, essentially there was a golden age in which the Yuzhon Vong rebuilt all destroyed worlds, but then there was a giant plague that destroyed intergalactic society for four hundred years and we're after intergalactic society has been re-established.

Thanks! What about technology in this timeline? are ships like the ISD-II now outdated and if yes what took their place?

Plenty of ISDs, Resurgents, and the like running about! Canonical ships are also still running around. You can use custom stuff (made in the Factory) or whatever's in the Wookieepedia. For lore stuff, there's the Codex i.e. custom planets, species, locations.
