I do have a question, is there any limit on what kind of equipment or ships we can have like an era lock or something for Characters.

Monolith in short; no. There's no limit on what you can or cannot have for your characters. You can even make cool stuff in the Factory for your characters, but Factory is optional.

I have my own preference for ships. Build one in either the d20 or FFG Star Wars rpgs. It gives you limits, and with the d20 version even drawbacks per upgrade.
