Help is at Hand [Shamira Karuto]

When you had friends in the right places, friends who could keep far closer ears to the ground than you, they'd often provide you with little gems of information. On the whole, intelligence was not at all Roisa's game, but it paid to know where the weight was shifting in the galaxy beyond the faces of those she conducted business with daily. Planet governors, leaders of powerhouses or even CEO's had a manner about them that tended to drown out the noise that Rosa was really interested in.

The Foundation was built to provide help and sanctuary to those who needed it. Regardless of alleigiance. She had made a very loud statement by refusing sponsorship from two large powerbases already but the smaller ones? Those she could manage and she could do so quietly.

The Liorre-class was one of six donated to her by Firemane and was fully stocked with food and medical supplies along with a few hundred personnel. Rosa had put the word out through her volunteer force and many of them had stepped up. Some had been refugees themselves and were looking for a way to do something against the force that had place them there.

Now all she had to do was rendezvous with them. The lines reverted to stars as they dropped out of hyperspace, the Eldorai captain at her side was stiff, but efficient as she barked orders across the bridge. Ahead of them on a back drop of diamond spotted black rested the Solemn Purpose.

Burn the past - Heal the future
If pacing could bore a hole into a durosteel floor, Shamira would be 5 decks down from where she had originally started, the bridge. Too many things on her mind kept her from staying still. The negotiation before here being chief among those. It had been far too long since she had taken part of one of these, years in fact, so her faith in her own negotiation talents had waned slightly. And she barely knew the woman she would be doing this with.

“Captain Karuto!” A young Rodian officer called her name, prompting her attention and the end of her pacing. “6 Firemane transports just entered our airspace, right on time.” Even if they were right on time, Shamira in her nervousness couldn’t help but have had stretched that time out in her mind, making the minutes feel like hours. At least Ms. Gunn had a good sense of time. Nodding to the officer, the Togruta made a motion to the screen. “Hail them. Then patch it through to my personal comm unit.”

She let the connection be patched before she left the bridge, heading towards the elevator that would bring her to the Solemn Promise’s hanger. “Ms. Gunn, how would you prefer us to do this? I am available to come meet you on your ship, or I can provide an X-Wing escort for you to come on the Promise. Whatever makes it the most easy for you.” Shamira’s DL-44 bounced lightly against her thigh, and lightsaber against her hip as she turned into the elevator. It would be a peaceful negotiations hopefully, but it was certainly better to come prepared. Or at least give off the impression that you were always prepared. Bronzie would hopefully be in the hanger waiting for her to also help give that impression. At least she hoped so. The R2 unit didn’t have the punctuality that their guest from Alderaan seemed to have.

Farryn the Nightingale's captain slid up beside her. "Three transports are loaded and ready to go, Master Gunn." Rosa nodded slowly he reach extended in the force. The tension aboard the Solemn purpose was palabable even from this distance. She tore her eyes away and looked at the stiff eldorai woman and smiled. "Thank you Captain, bring us alongside and collaborate with the Purpose to get the supplies unloaded. And - "

"Master Gunn?" A comms officer had appeared at her elbow holding up a commlink she accepted it, fixing it to her ear as she continued.

"-and see that our personnel are ready to lend a hand where possible. Any who wish to stay and support the Resistance personally have my blessing. Understood?" Farryn inclined her head and swept away allowing Rosa to acknowledge the communication from the Purpose. She smiled inwardly at the abruptness of the greeting, niceties were in short supply when you were on the front lines of guerilla warfare. "Save your fuel, Miss Karuto. I've three transports already loaded to come to you, I will join them. An escort won't be necessary, though if it puts you at ease I'm content to accept one."

Burn the past - Heal the future
Pleasantries were certainly disposed of when one was being chased through the galaxy by the Sith Empire, running out of fuel and well, fuel to keep the pilot’s bodies going. Not that Shamira was happy to do such a thing. Typically being as civil as possible worked best during a negotiation for supplies, but the desperation of the whole situation, and the fact she was running on little more than a few hours of sleep was starting to get to her mentally.

The sliding doors opened into the hanger, revealing a flurry of activity to the army captain. Pilots either rushing around to fill up their X-Wings, maintenance crews repairing damaged droids and ships, and the sound of light conversation filled the air as Shamira stepped into the hanger from the elevator. A sharp droidspeak cry caught her attention, prompting her to turn and smile as her bronze and black droid wheeled up to her. “Hey buddy.”

Master Dunn’s answer made Shamira laugh lightly before answering. “Well, I suppose that works as well. Just so you know however, a X-Wing will guide you in. I’ll be awaiting your presence in the hanger, and there is an officer’s room ready for us to completely negotiations in.” Shamira put the commlink back onto her belt and found a stack of boxes to lean against, watching as the maintenance crews began to move the starfighters back so that the three transports had room to land.

Their escort pilot sounded exhausted, his words as clipped in their tone as Shamira's had been. She exchanged a glance with the transports pilot before opening up comms to her people alone. "Listen up, tempers here are gonna be short. These people are exhausted, hungry and have been through hell and back. Give them every ounce of sympathy you have, be patient and do whatever you can to help unload the supplies before going to relieve whoever you can."

She flicked the comms off as they slowed to enter the hanger, and rose from the co pilots chair, resting a hand briefly on Del's shoulder. "Good luck." she murmured.

"You too, Master Gunn. As soon as this batch is unloaded I'll start organising the next."

She descended the ladder into the cargo hold with a handful of others who immediately began shifting supplies onto grav lifters and guiding them out into the hangar bay to be distributed. Rosa slipped between them, gentle touches on each arm of her own crew that she passed, who responded with smiles and small dips of their head before focusing on their tasks.
