So, Makkik is looking to learn how to make lightsaber / lightfoils. He's obviously not going to learn to use them, and they'll only be as strong as lightfoils as he's not force sensitive, but he's looking to learn how to make them.

Anyone willing ot teach him? He'll pay you, of course. Will even make you some things if you'd like, as pay.

I'm not sure why he would want to learn, as nine cases out of ten the crafting of a lightsaber is a very personal matter, both for personal reasons and effectual ones. Other than that, it's no more complex than anything else, just a piece of modern technology with the addition of magic space crystals.

Lightsabers require aspects of the force to be constructed such as TK ability. Not to mention the crystals themselves which are difficult for NFUs to find and use effectively.

Know what it takes to do it is one thing and fundamentally easy to learn................being able to build one however is a completely different thing all together.

My point was that even Grievous used already made lightsabers. It's not practical for an NFU to make them.

Ya know, this is entirely a legitimate possibility to be honest. They're thousands of years old, so why wouldn't it be that easy to learn/build?

I suppose I worded my request wrong. He wants to know how to make lightsabers. He wants to know how all teh technology works, how everything fits together. Honestly, if he ever made one it'd turn out as a lightfoil. But he's not going to make lightsabers/lightfoils (well, he might... but that's another story), he's going to adapt the technology. I'm just trying to avoid suddenly one day knowing how to do something that only force sensitives do... That'd be like a random Sith starting to speak Mando'a out of no where.

Learning a new language requires lots of practice and memorization. Looking up a diagram or DIY on building an otherwise - at this point - common piece of technology, however, would not. They're in completely different leagues.

And between the Yuuzhan Vong, the Gulag Plague and the Four Hundred Years of Darkness, I wouldn't doubt at all that there are at least a few bits of information on lightsaber technology on the HoloNet. It's a very big galaxy, and the same principles of the time periods of the movies has long since changed, things are a little less orderly. It is called Chaos for a reason, after all. Some things would have been obscured, others released.

TL;DR: We're past a point where the information isn't very secret anymore. And if anything more modern forms of it have taken its place.

You just want a saber right? Don't have to be powerful? If you were a scientist studying Jedi, I'd probably help out but not let you keep it.
