Hi, my character is Shen Mue the Jedi Knight. I've been role-playing for a long time on the tabletop with friend but they are not into star wars so I thought I might give this a try. Do I just jump in to a story or do I have to apply for a faction first and speak to their DMs?

The choice is really upto you. You can jump right into your own stories, or join a faction and jump into their stories, whichever mood takes you. We're pretty open and sandbox like that, the factions tend ot be fairly active places to make connections, but plenty of people never join up but tell some really amazing stories away from the big factions on the map.

If you're interested in Jedi for teaching / running classes I would be happy to have you join us over in the Jedi Academy. We've just started an in character meet and greet for Orientation Day held at the new Veridian Jedi Academy. This would be a good opportunity to meet other characters IC in a casual setting.
