Hello, and welcome to Chaos, my friend.
To set an avatar, you have to go to your profile settings, then put your mouse cursor on the image that is shown over there. A setting called "Change" will appear and, after that, you just have to find an avatar that suits you.

It doesn't seem to work right now, but I have a feeling that that might be because of my computer.
