~~ Nothingness always comes from something ~~
A blow of air escaped the young man's lips. Smoke would roll out, slowly being carried into the dry, putrid air. Zvi sat against a heavily graffitied wall, eyeing people as they walked by, laughing and talking among themselves. He'd sigh, muttering something insignificant to himself under his breath. It was just such a hassle being somewhere so gross, somewhere so annoying. The city felt overpopulated, and looked like only scum lived here. His prejudice was probably showing, but what did that have to do with anything?

He'd push himself off of the ground, taking another drag of his cigarette before moving along. He wanted to get some fresh air, the confines of the abandoned lot getting to his head. The stink of the city still followed him as he found his way to the stairs and walked up them at his own leisure. He'd hear people chattering off in the distance, a fight coming from a few floors below him. It was always so noisy in cities like these, but he supposed cities like these were the only reason he got the training to make him a little more than an ex-slave.

Once at the roof, he'd take a deep breath in, letting it all out in a sigh. It was
such a troublesome day. No good droid scraps, no good dead bodies to identify. Really, business had been stale and so had this planet. He had holed up here because of how dingy it felt, but honestly there wasn't as much action as he had hoped for. Lest he decide to get tied up in business he'd rather stay out of. Quite frankly, he would die for some sort of excitement.

He'd continue smoking his cigarette, his free arm crossed over his chest. The city skylight was rather bland. Yellow with smog and ruins. He wouldn't stand too close to the edge, not really feeling like being noticed by people on the ground. Zvi would sit on the hood of a broken down vehicle. He really didn't notice what it was supposed to be, but from here he had a good view of the city and was somewhere at least a little bit more quiet. The hustle and bustle was easy to tune out, after all he had lived in cities like this since he escaped that past life.

His tail would swish idly behind him, the buzz of the tobacco finally hitting in. Another sigh would escape him, the smallest of smiles crossing his face as he continued to simply stare out at the city. He was pretty distracted on his own thoughts, milling things over with little care. He'd be an easy target to sneak up on or really just to approach in general.

The felineoid was back in Confederacy territory. Her master dwelled somewhere on these worlds, but right now she was a free cat. Free to wander and do what she wanted to do. Being of a curious nature, she travelled along the tops of buildings here. She wanted to see the city around her before venturing down to the streets below. Ailuros was from a forested world and cities were a new thing for her.

Her whiskers twitched and her tail waved behind her slightly. Hearing a sigh come from the roof in front of her, she stopped in her advance and looked up. Seeing there was a small ledge above her, she jumped up there almost silently. Like a typical cat, she was able to balance up there with ease and look down at the person.

She blinked her eyes a few times to make sure she was seeing things correctly. This person smoking appeared to be at least part cat. Wondering just what he was doing staring off into space, not paying attention to what was around him and sitting on the hood of a car...she decided to play a trick on him. Not meaning any harm, Ailuros grinned as she hopped down on the speeder behind him.

About the only thing, he should feel would be the vibration of her landing since she had done it as silently as she could.

"What brings a fellow cat out on a night like this?"

Her tone was calm and collected. There was a slight lisp due to her fangs being a little longer than the rest of her teeth. She did not display any hostility and clearly showed her curiosity. Her ears were perked forward and her fur rested normally on her skin.

The former slave would jump off the vehicle he had been sitting on, swiftly turning around as he heard the voice of a stranger. Jeez, he did not like being scared. And to put it bluntly, looking at something that was full on cat put him on edge. She reminded him of the zygerrians even if she looked slightly different from the notorious slavers. He'd hesitate for a second, staying tense before letting out a deep sigh. She didn't give him the vibe of a bounty hunter, or a slaver for that matter. Calling him a 'fellow' meant something more akin to wanting to make friends not take in.

"Oi, you always feel the need to scare people?" he'd say in a somewhat annoyed tone, huffing before returning his cigarette to his mouth. He'd inhale deeply, blowing the smoke out once the buzz somewhat returned to his head.

"Mm... Well, anyways, nothing much really. I'm kind of lacking in work, unless you have a dead body in need of forensic analysis? Outside that, guess I'm just enjoying the wonderful smells this city has to offer." he would end on a sarcastic note, laughing before turning away from the cat woman. His tail would swish behind him idly, a somewhat agitated twitch in it if the woman cared to notice.

"Do not call me a cat again." he'd say simply but harshly. He didn't really care if that ticked her off, especially if she considered that something to be proud of. The ex slave preferred to keep that part of his past behind.

Her action caused him to jump and turn around, but Ailuros did not see him go for any weapons. Being tensed up like he was she totally understood, but she remained just as calm as she had been when she jumped down.

His tone was annoyed, but the other cat person finally relaxed and returned to his smoking.

"Not always, but it is fun to do now and then."

Swishing her tail behind her slightly and joining on the hood of the car unless he moved away or stopped her, she listened to what he had to say and nodded.

"I just finished up some business and am returning to the area, so I am also out of work."

His comment about the smells of the world caused her to wrinkle her nose slightly. Hearing the sarcasm though, she gave no verbal reaction to it. When he requested her not to call him a cat again, her head jerked back as if she had been slapped. Not looking at all hurt though, that ever-present curiosity was clear.

"Why not? It is who we are."

"Ha ha... I'm sure it is." really, people like that were beyond annoying. Couldn't they get a hint? Scaring innocent bystanders was so annoying, especially in trashy run down cities like this. Wouldn't it be nice if people just wanting to have fun wouldn't go around scaring people? It'd be so nice... So, so nice...

"Well, guess we're useless to each other then. Bummer, I was hoping you'd have some work for me since you just fell from the sky and all." he'd say with a huff of smoke, taking another deep puff. Well, it wasn't like it was necessarily bad news a dead body didn't need analysis. Though, that meant he was still out of work and he was in some need of funds. Heck, he was kind of stuck on this rock unless he got some fuel to hop to the next inhabitable planet.

"It is not who I am. That's a life long past who I am today. You'd do well to drop the subject, I'm not privy to being reminded of this curse." another huff of smoke would escape his lips, blowing away in a most 'pleasantly' scented breeze. "So, if we've moved on from that... Any propositions for this forensic nobody? Or do you simply wish to chat and watch the time roll on by and leave us behind?" he'd ask, coming to the end of his cigarette. Well, shoot... There went the last one.

"I wouldn't say are useless to each other. Just I guess I am useless to you."

Letting out a sigh, her tail wagged behind her as she sat next to what might be a new friend. He said he was interested in work and she rested her head on one of her paws as she was thinking of something.

"How could I come up with work for you? Haven't you tried to apply for work here? As somebody that can investigate dead bodies...I'm sure you could be of use to them."

Deciding to kindly drop the subject of him being a cat person too, Ailuros intended to come back to it. Muttering under her breath, he still very likely heard one last thing when she wondered why he thought of it as a curse.

There was a rumbling sound behind them suddenly and she turned around to see what had caused it.

"There might be something to explore where that came from."
