STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :Hiram is a veteran fighter and commander whose understanding of pack corvettes weaknesses and strengths makes him an invaluable aide to any offensive or defensive space action. His ability to coordinate attacks and plan movements against enemy vessels is an appreciative one.

However, Hiram is not the man he once was. While physically he may be a presence aboard a bridge that no man would like to interfere with, he is not physically strong. Quite conversely, he is weak. Frail even. A radiation leak aboard a vessel during his time in the One Sith took its toll on him, so in a fisticuffs match, he'll most likely go down very easily. On top of that, Hiram is a very distrustful, and not particularly personable. In fact, to force users, no matter their affiliation, the veteran officer is outright hostile. And so this lack of tact or inability to consider the feelings of others in his work is one that often builds tension amongst junior officers and superiors.

APPEARANCE:
Hiram is an aloof figure. He clings to the periphery of wherever he is, and analyses things quietly. Social cues, what’s being said, body language and expression. He does not cut an imposing figure by any means at all at a measly five feet and nine inches, however his posture is always correct and attentive. Hiram unlike many contemporaries makes no attempt to hide his age. He went bald in his late thirties, and the only visible hairs he has are his limited facial hair and excursions from his nose and ears. White and wispy at that. His skin, is ravaged with scars and attempt radiotherapy caused after a reactor accident with a lethal radiation dose . His face is cast in almost permanent grimace and is often mistaken to condescension and bitterness by those who are not acquainted.

BIOGRAPHY:
Hiram Ulysses Voss was born not on a planet, but rather a freighter enroute to Hosnian Prime. Voss’ father, Gannon and his mother Theresa Virger star crossed lovers and pilots working for the small Jennissare Trading Company. A small cargo outfit that exported light freight through the Core worlds. The Voss’ then settled soon after Hiram’s birth on a trading outpost orbiting the gas giant, Ebaq in the Deep Core. Hiram’s childhood was not a particularly pleasant one, his father became a drunkard who both beat his son and wife. But, Ebaq was where Hiram learned the trade of fixing freighters and operating them. When he was sixteen, he left home on one and never looked back.

Hiram slowly learned the ropes aboard a converted Corellian Corvette known as the Shooting Star, and became acquainted with how to run such a vessel, working as one of its navigators and occasional helmsman when the primary one was too drunk. But he soon found the world of trade lacked a kick to it. Lacked a certain hint of spice that only violence could satiate. And so, when the time came, jumped ship and in a remarkable move, enlisted in the One Sith Navy as a younger man. He studied in a naval college, and graduated to the rank of senior ensign.

While it is often joked about amongst his men amongst various commands how Hiram lost his hair, the answer is rather brutal. Serving under Sith. Easy as that. Hiram saw superiors executed. Saw superiors murdered, and while waging total warfare against the Galactic Republic, that caused him to become rather, jaded as it were, toward force users in general. The Sith were overbearing micromanagers on the whole, who executed subordinates. The Jedi? Incapable weaklings who could not hold territory. When the One Sith began to fracture thanks to the egos within, Hiram was one of the first to desert. Fleeing, at the rank of commander.

Voss left right as the First Order began to rise to prominence. Distrusted within their ranks, Voss was relegated to minor anti-piracy duties as a minor, second rate commander. But, his work ethic, ability to coordinate corvette packs and hunt greater prey made him an invaluable asset to the First Imperial Navy. As such, Voss soon rose to the rank of Captain, and then Commodore after an impressive series of skirmishes with the then prevailing Galactic Alliance. Hiram’s personal standing also translated into marriage out of his career. In the brief peace between the first and second First Order-Galactic Alliance wars.

Hiram was delivering personal letters of condolence during the brief peace to the men who served under him, when he happened upon the widow of second lieutenant Hadrian Marcks. Lira Marcks was a woman slightly younger than Hiram, but the two hit it off, and courted one another. Eventually settling on the culturally significant Riflor, Hiram took Lira’s hand in marriage, and for a time contemplated resigning his commission. Perhaps settling down with his newly wedded wife on the world, the two began to plan for children. There was a sense of contentment that Hiram felt that he never had before. That his wanderlust was fading, that this was a new phase in his life. With years of wages unspent he was seeking reassignment to the Naval Reserves, when the apocalypse hit.

Riflor was one of the planets hardest hit when the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium attacked the First Order. Hiram would only be able to watch in the distance as the city block he and Lira had purchased was extinguished by gas attack. Hiram was assigned as a Commodore to a defensive position fighting rearguard action against Ssi-Ruuvi vessels, while civilian chartered vessels fled for One Sith space. It was there, as Hiram fought tirelessly against the saurian enemy, that he contemplated what was wrong with the Galaxy. How could the Knights of Ren, the almost omnipotent overseers of Supreme Leader Ren’s Empire have gone so wrong. How could Sieger Ren, a man who had managed to crush his enemies not foreseen this? Curse the force and its wretched users.

After four days of constant fighting, with civilian convoys dispatched, Hiram and what remained of his superiors fled to Sith Empire space, where for a time, Voss sat in waiting. Many of his colleagues within the First Imperial Navy joined them, Hiram sat in the periphery, silently smouldering and grieving what was lost. He had no possessions to count upon. Lira was dead, and now he was back where it all started. The Sith. He did join the Sith Empire’s navy, where he never retained his old position, and was once again hunting pirates and smugglers. Demeaning work.

When the New Imperial Order broke away, Hiram saw an opportunity for a territory dominated by no Sith, nor Jedi nor any user of the force. Rather a time for a new regime and organisation. And with nothing to lose, why not throw in with the underdog?

SHIP: None so far.

KILLS: None so far.

BOUNTIES COLLECTED: Bounty Hunters? We don’t need their scum.
