A lesson for Students of the Silver Jedi Order.

Today's class was going to be a first time experience for Caedyn Arenais, the Jedi Knight of whom stood within the Arboretum of the Silver Rest, a vast indoor sanctuary that was essentially an inside garden that spanned the length of a sparring arena for tournaments and the like. Already some of his previous students had learned that Caedyn had a fondness for nature over that of the ordinary classroom environment. His Father had often used them for these sorts of lessons, however all that Caedyn required was his Datapad and the interest of his attendants.

Today he was to teach a lesson on the history of the Jedi Order, and depending on how well it went, it may not be the only one. There was after all a vast amount of history concerning the Jedi Order, not to mention the many off-shoot organizations, the Silver Jedi Order itself and those other individual Order's that today formed the existing Galactic Jedi Order (an umbrella term for the Jedi of various beliefs, origins and ideologies). For someone not aware of the past, the current state of the Jedi could be considered to be a little confusing, yet the main thing was that the Galaxy still needed them, and the Jedi were still present to answer the plea's of the innocent.

Sitting patiently upon one of the bench-seats that he had organized to form a make-shift circle, Caedyn awaited his students for the day.

Metis was for once, on time. Metis was looking forward to this lesson, and had set her clock accordingly. Metis had only a vague idea of what had gone on with the Jedi in recent history, most of what she did know was quite literally ancient history, from the annals of Theed University. Whenever Metis had brought up or questioned about recent history, she had either been given vague answers or complex personal tales. Metis was unsure where such experiences happened chronologically.

Metis was interested in history and culture in general, she could rattle of the Resol’nare of the Mandalorians, compare the engineering of Corellia with those of Kuat and Mon Calamari, and could personally blend the combat skills of both Echani and Naboo Handmaidens. She aimed to be a learned scholar, and yet knew very little of the recent history of the Jedi. Metis hoped this lesson was the beginning of greater understanding of not just the Silver Jedi but of Jedi across the galaxy.

Metis had a vague understanding of most Jedi of various different orders collaborating. She herself had sat in a lesson taught by a Je’daii of a different order. Though she had left even more confused then when she had entered the lesson.

Metis entered the Arboretum with eagerness, she bowed to the attending Master with humility, and refrained herself from launching into a series of questions. There would be plenty time for that throughout the lesson, and it hadn’t even begun.

Zilera entered the classroom a little late, having only just remembered that she had wanted to attend this lesson. While she had learned the basics, she hadn't focused much of her attention on learning how to harness the Force or practicing with a lightsaber. But she supposed now that she was hoping to become a Knight sooner rather than later, she had best hone more than just her skill with the Force or skills with a lightsaber.

Today, as the topic was history of the Jedi, she was hoping to learn more about the origins of the Order and how Force wielders had initially banded together as the Jedi, as well as notable events throughout the long galactic history of the Jedi Order. She was also interested in learned how the Order of the Silver Jedi came to be, as it was separate from other branches of Knights across the galaxy.

Coming into the Arboretum was always an experience. Seeing the towering trees, as well as ponds and the various flowers and ferns around was wholly different than any durasteel hall, and Zilera appreciated the natural feeling of it. She saw brown-haired individual seated at one of the benches and smiled and waved and them, before bowing to the figure that was clearly leading the lesson and taking a seat on a nearby bench.

Arriving as one of the late ones, it was evident Cas didn't want to be here at all. Following some insistence from his Master, believing this would be a good opportunity for him, Cas was practically forced to attend this... class? Was it even a class? He thought to himself for a brief moment. Cas was always better at learning through experience, not stuck in some indoor garden being talked at for a few hours.

Still groggy from his late night, Cas entered the Arbetorum rubbing his eyes and scratching his head. Cas tilted his head at the Knight whom he assumed before giving off a lazy salute "Hey." he addressed to the Knight before taking his seat at one of the benches.

Honestly, the Kiffar had no idea what else he could learn from this history lesson... The Jedi were guardians of peace and justice back during the Old Republic, Emperor Palpatine wiped them out and then balance was eventually restored. Happy ending. Then again, he didn't really know how this particular sect of the Jedi came to be... so maybe he did have something to learn after all.

History 101, the name of the class has caused a smile onto the young teen as he walked into the room where the smile that was on him quickly faded away as fast as it came onto his face. Jasper was given a holo cube a while back from one Jedi that introduced him to the SJO after he saves him from some trouble. Jasper looked at the holo consistently to the point of almost becoming addicted to it. The information inside the cubed had shown him different things, one was the belief history of the Jedi Order. He didn’t look at that info on history much compared to the info of the force, instead of focusing on the information on the force itself, but since now have wanted to know more about the Jedi Order and the history of it. He believed that looking like the past can help one’s make good choices and avoid making the same mistakes as people did so when he heard about a class the Order history Jasper knew he couldn’t miss this opportunity. He also wanted to know what the SJO been through and what the events that changed the Order from the inside in the hopes of understanding a bit more about the structure of it and how it works.

Look at the people in the area while heading to an empty seat. Jasper investigated his mind to see if there was any information on them to some varying success from his time seeing them previously weather in other classes or seeing them in the temple to various success. He didn’t have info on everyone there, but he had enough info on those that he saw before that he made him a little bit more comfortable than usual.

Slowly but surely, a few students turned up for the Class and Caedyn smiled to each of them in greeting, moving to stand as they entered and gesturing for them to take a seat. "Welcome, all of you" he said with a warm tone, and bowed in formality. He pleased to see that there were some who were interested in the subject of Jedi history, as it was a broad subject and there was a vast amount that he could cover.

"Today's lesson is to be on the subject of History, specifically that of the Jedi Order..." Caedyn introduced the topic, glancing to the four of them to ensure they had chosen correctly, soon elaborating; "Some of you may know that the Jedi of today are somewhat different in form from the Jedi from the Ancient Republic, and that we were not always so wide spread, nor was the title 'Silver Jedi' a known phrase or concept" It was to be expected that some might not realize that the Jedi of the Galaxy were once a whole unified Organization, yet still held it's different branches, Enclaves and facilities dotting across the known and charted Galaxy.

"How did the Jedi first come about? How long have practitioners of the Lightside and the Darkside been at odds?" He presented two very large and commonly asked questions as an example, "These are just a couple of things you will learn about today" he grinned, clearly enthusiastic about the subject.

Metis listened eagerly to Master Caedyn Arenais introduction to the lecture, it sounded like a promising start. Metis wasn’t sure of how the various Jedi factions splintered, or reformed or begun anew, She had a vague sense that the Silver Jedi as a political entity with its mission of humanitarian value actually involving the governance of planets. Metis understood some Jedi sects found this to be an anathema to the purpose of the Jedi, being keepers of the peace not rulers of planets.

Personally Metis was glad and grateful the Order to which she belonged was as powerful as it was, and didn’t hesitate to intervene in intergalactic affair for the greater good. Metis homeplanet of Naboo and the jurisdiction under which it was under of the Confederacy of Indeependent Systems were both too isolationist for her taste. Metis recent mission to Eshan during its period of abdication of its monarch reaffirmed Metis of the need and validity of the Silver Jedi Orders position in the galaxy.

Metis nearly jumped from her seat raising her arm at Master Caedyns first questions to the class.

“The Legends speak of the Jedai originating in the deep core on Tython, these predecessor of the Jedi, were originally called the Je’daii. I attended a lecture of someone claiming to be from a resurgence of that original sect.”

Metis was so eager to excel in class she hadn’t realised that the question were rhetorical to set the stage of the lesson. Metis blushed with embarrassment. It wasn’t the first time she had spoken out of turn during a lesson.

“Apologies Master” Metis said awkwardly “Please continue”

At first, Zilera was somewhat listlessly staring off into the middle distance, not really paying attention to her surroudings. Bad form for a Jedi, she knew, but there wasn't much for her to pay attention to at the moment. That was something she should work on, she thought, beginning to move into a more meditative mindset when the Jedi teaching the class began to speak. She soon snapped out of her reverie when he began to speak in earnest. She had of course heard some tales of the Jedi of old, but many had flown over her head or simply not well-taught, so she was hoping this class might help her better understand the roots of the organization she wanted to desperately to be of value to.

As soon as the brown-haired man in front of the room finished his first set of questions, Zilera began to pull out a notebook. She wanted to write some of this down so she could go over it later. She doubted there would be a test, but all the same, she'd like to be able to write it out. As she did so, the other woman in the room began firing off answers to the questions posed by the master leading the lesson. Zilera wrote a couple of points down, before the Padawan cut herself off and apologized. Zilera hadn't really figured anyone would apologize for sharing knowledge, especially in the Jedi. She shot the other woman a reassuring smile, before turning back to the man at the front of the room.

A lesson on the history of the Jedi, could Dreidi think of anything more boring?! Maybe, but she was super struggling to think on what it could be. So why was she begrudgingly attending the class? Well her Master was dating the teacher so she was curious what he would be like in class. Dreidi learned plenty about him from Asaraa, though nothing that she could use against him in order of getting top marks without attending. That had been something she tried hard to find out but nothing on the Knight, bar the fact he was a prince once but who cared about that. Now, she was late and having to attend some class that she just new her father would love, he was such a dumb nerd. It would be fun in a dorky way if she wasn't angry with her parents.

Entering the room, the class was already under way but she didn't care too much, huffing as if already bored and annoyed with the class Dreidi wandered in and took a seat. She was not talking anyone, just staring down the Knight with eyes that were all too similar to her father's. Though with less experience and control. Her hair was loose and down her front as she noticed a few other students but didn't pay them too much attention. Dreidi didn't want to say she was better than them but hard not to feel time to time when she could beat up Padawans significantly bigger than her.

Impatient as always, Cas nodded along to every word the Knight was saying in a frustrated manner, not even really listening. He just wanted to get to the part where the 'Silver Jedi' came to be. With one hand holding his resting head, Cas used the other to fidget with his lightsaber while simultaneously tapping his feet on the ground - he had completely forgotten how much he hated classes, it reminded him of the days of the endless homeschooling by his clan back on Kiffu.

His attention was caught when one of the other Padawans, a brown haired girl, simply blurted out an answer to one of the Knight's obviously rhetorical questions. Once she realised that and apologised after, the Kiffar grinned to himself and shook his head slightly - it was, sort of endearing to say the least.

Another Padawan arrived late and from the expression she had, not to mention the emotions she radiated through the Force, showed she didn't want to be there as much as him... maybe more. It was at this moment, Cas decided to raise his hand "Master, sir, sir Master..." he jested "When are we going to get to the part about, y'know, us?" he asked, hopefully speaking up for some of the others too.

The Legends speak of the Jedai originating in the deep core on Tython, these predecessor of the Jedi, were originally called the Je’daii.
I attended a lecture of someone claiming to be from a resurgence of that original sect
".
Caedyn Arenais smiled at the mention of the Je'daii Order, that which he himself had been a part of before his joining the Order of the Silver Jedi. It wasn't Tython that they were based upon alone, not the latest reformation of Je'daii, though they did indeed make use of the ancient Tho Yor, along with newly constructed Temples of which they based upon the nine.

"Indeed, the Je'daii were the first to discover the eight great Tho Yor. These were ancient and vast vessels which were each discovered upon different worlds. Those whom heard the call of the Force were allowed to enter these great vessels, for which then traveled to Tython and gathered around the ninth and final Tho Yor. Each of these vessels carried peoples of different races and species, yet they were all called upon by the force. They would then become known as the Tythans and form the Je'daii Order dedicated to the honor and practices of Bogan and Ashla, what we know today to be the Dark Side and the Light Side of the Force".

Caedyn himself had been honored with the title of Steward of the Silent Temple of Qigong Kesh, a location of great past history both within the Je'daii and Jedi Order's over the past decades. Qigong Kesh had been similar to what the Jedi would consider a Consular's path today, though varied in practices of both the Light and the Dark. His background and upbringing separated him somewhat from other Jedi, and so he had learned to be discrete in such tellings.

"The first of the Force Wars occurred between these Je'daii. The Followers of the Light became wary of those practicing the Dark Side, and so banished them from the Order. Furthermore, fearing retaliation, they took it upon themselves to seek to eliminate the threat altogether and so the relationship we have today between the Jedi and the Sith, can be traced all the way back to these tragic times".

Caedyn was of course brushing over the subject lightly, as many of the details had been lost over the ages. It was however a sad truth that what they knew of the Dark Jedi and Sith Followers today, were descendants of the victims of fear and ostracism of the light; a truth not often spoken of nowadays and one that emphasized the need for great care in one's judgement of others, as well as actions taken out of emotional influence.

"We will get to that..." Caedyn added, glancing to Cadere Cadere and offering a brief nod. His enthusiasm was admirable, yet the subject of history was large and he wished for his students to understand and truly consider that which he was teaching them.

Jasper just sated their silently as he heard the other people in the room speak. He wasn’t really interested in what the students had to say or ask, with the exception of one who asked about when he was going to talk to about the SJO. He wanted to know too, but he didn’t mind learning about the other information on the Jedi…or the Je’daii as the teacher was lecturing to him and the other students on about. He saw one of the students use a notepad to write down the information on what was being said and thought it would be a good idea to do the same thing. Take a small notepad out of his pockets and a writing device, Jasper begins to take notes like he would use to back as a child in his home planet.

While he didn’t expect to hear about the Je’daii only the SJO, he was very curious about them the more he heard from them from Knight Arenais. “Forgive me for asking this question…” He started, “But these Tho Yor you speak of.. who created them? There were no recorded writings talking about their creation?”

Metis glanced with frustration at the rude boy who had interrupted the class with his impatience. ( Cadere Cadere ) History was vast and the study of it took discipline and patience. Although Metis admitted to herself ruefully that she herself had just recently disrupted a class with an impatient outburst of her own, so should probably keep that in mind.

Metis listened with eagerness and interest as Master Caedyn Arenais explained the precursors to the order. Metis had never heard of the 8 great ships of the Tho Yor. Another padawan asked an intelligent question Jasper Candos Jasper Candos . Metis made a note on her datapad, she briefly made a Net Search of the subject and consulted her Encyclopedia.

"There's not much on their creation but there's evidence of them on Manaan, Kashyyk, Dathomir all had been places the Tho Yor had been present. It probably accounted for the unique environment of those planets."

Metis saw a footnote and hyperlink to the Jedi Temple’s most named with the suffix of ‘Kesh”.

"Each ship become the base of Jedáii Temple's. Qigong Kesh- Advanced Force, Stav Kesh- Martial Skills, Mahara Kesh- Healing, Anil Kesh-Science Akar Kesh- Balance and Padawan Kesh-Initiates,."

Metis briefly wondered if that was the origins of the term Padawan. Metis put a footnote and reminder to study the temples after class.

"There is another temple referenced as Kaleth, it seemed to be the site of a Battle in the Force Wars"

Metis typed in her notes, and continued to listen to the lecture. The Force Wars, Metis knew of in passing. The knowledge of them was limited. Some early myths said they were prompted by an invasion of another species, some Sith claimed it was the beginning of oppression and censorship of knowledge by the Je’daii.

Whatever the cause the origins of bladework could be traced back to these times, before the use of advanced weaponry. Metis had always considered lightsabers to be elegent weapon remnant of a more civilised time, not as clumsy as a blaster. As useful for defence as offence. Metis had never really considered the Jedi or there ancestors as using swords at a time when the technology hadn’t been as advanced.

"The Force Wars were fought with swords, that must be the basis from which lightsaber combat comes from."

So, was Caedyn unable to pronounce Jedi correctly? Well, he did say Jedi and Sith correctly but then also said Je'daii, which sounded like Jedi but also didn't. The class seemed weird, how was this relevant or important but she knew better than to voice her concerns about the class. Her Master and father would tell her learning about Jedi of the past was way to avoid mimicking their mistakes.

Leaning back in her chair, she looked at Metis Athena Elpis Metis Athena Elpis stunned. Was this girl for real? How did anyone remember all this?! Was she cheating? Reading the records on her device? Must be, no one could store all that knowledge in their head and perfectly recall it all. Dreidi pouted as she crossed her arms. What was point in the class if everyone already knew everything?

"Ugh. We gunna talk about the thousands of years of Jedi history and their collapse at their own hands..." Dreidi asked in a heavy bored tone. Talking about thousands of years history was not her idea of fun. The Jedi of old been critiqued by millions, if not billions. Was this really needed? Maybe learn things more recent be interesting.

"I think there's something to be learned from it" Caedyn replied to Dreidi Xeraic with a faint grin, knowing her familial ties and wondering if Yuroic was ever this way in his youth. "Their fear of what could be, led them into fueling a historically catastrophic war. Their actions can teach us the dangers of judging others who differ from our own perspectives and world views" he explained.

"For example, I've met many who know and practice the Dark Side of the Force, yet they are good people and do good things for others still. Some might seek to detain them for their believes and practices, but we must remember it's always best to judge upon one's actions, never upon assumptions or character", in fact many of the people that had previously been closest to his family were tied to practices in both 'sides of the Force', and his own Father had friends that were considered to be followers of the Sith Doctrine, yet did not share in their blood thirstiness or crimes against Galactic Society.

"However, some of you asked about the Order of the Silver Jedi and how we got here today, so we'll move on to more recent history shall we?" he chuckled quietly, sensing that some in the lesson had grown distant and distracted; "Does anyone have any insight already into how the Silver Jedi were originally formed, and what they were called back then?".

Jasper looked over to the young woman( Elpis) when she answered his question with a subtle hint of being surprised since he was expecting Arenais to answer the question since he was teaching the class. Jasper was impressed with how the woman handled herself in this class am realized that he might have to keep an eye on her as she could a huge ally to him in the future when the time comes. “ Thanks, you miss” He thanked the woman.

Listening to the words that Arenais said about knowing people who were using both light and dark sides of the force and used them for good made Jasper curious. He gathered a little bit of information on Caedyn from talking to the other Jedi as the order and wondered if the Jedi Knight knew some Dark side force powers. “Arenais sir, It seems like all of the dark and light side force powers were and still are being labeled or better yet, associated with the Sith or the Jedi from what I learn on using the force and the different abilities it has.” He took a bit of a deep breath before continuing. “And because of that labeling, most people tend to steer away from certain force abilities or forbid them from being used. For example, from what I had learned, the old Jedi Order did not allow the use of Force lighting simply because it was used by the sith. So what you’re saying is that the labeling of different force powers as light and dark is bad? If that the case then should we focus on learning all sides of the force then without being worried about the labeling? As long as we use them for good?
