- High Rate of fire: The SMB shoots 5 rounds a second for a sustained period of 20 seconds, allowing for walls of lasers to be fired when multiple are used
- Low Recoil: The designers tried to keep the barrel close to the middle of the gun, and with fairly weak shots, the weapon can easily be kept on target
- Low DPS: Each shot is very weak, and has a hard time getting through above average armor
- Short Range: The HMC SMB is designed to be a close to medium range weapon, with no emphasis on long range fire
The HMC Sub-Machine Gun was designed as a one-handed weapon to be used by the CIS's H1 Battle Droids they use as their main weapon. Designed by Hansol Mining Corporation, and produced by both HMC and the CIS, the SMB is designed to be fired from the hip of a droid, or be held by both hands of an average person to have absolutely no recoil. This was very well received by testers, however, most people found that with armor, it was hard to keep on target long enough to get through it. Thus a laser sight was added to help with both precision and accuracy. The biggest downside is its inability to be used effectively from long range, thus it is recommended for it to be supported by a longer range weapon when incorporated in units, such as a CIS battalion.
