HoldoWare was originally founded as a front to engage in underworld business while maintaining a veneer of legitimacy, while the seed money came from a semi-fraudulent method. As such it sold password management systems, then enterprise resource planning systems, and other manners of software that are typically sold for the civilian market, both consumer and business, but in time Petria realized that she couldn't keep selling what amounted to reconditioned stolen software. Maintaining the veneer of legitimacy required entering new markets and introducing new products; for that she took to the Sith Empire and, since one of Petria's many identities, in fact, had her pretend that she is a twenty-something entrepreneur from Oorn Tchis, she may as well set up the legal headquarters on Oorn Tchis.
With the loans taken out from the Sith Empire, she sought to enter the electronics and the droid/cybernetics markets, so, in fact, while the Nar Shaddaa facility is still a facility that is more about software development, the other two remaining locations, Gatalenta and Gallinore, seemed to be more geared towards the hardware part of the business. And yet, she realized that she had to make the most out of the seed money to ensure the company's survival, realizing also that a bankruptcy will also cause problems to her not only on a business level, but also on a personel level. So she has no choice but to ensure the commercial viability of a product before bringing it to market, while understanding that she often has a limited window to do so. In fact, she'd rather be able to sell without any factional restrictions on customers if that's at all possible.
RATIONALE
Everything began when Petria took to slicing. After undertaking several slicing jobs, Petria built a portfolio of software products based on stolen software, which she refined for use on legitimate markets. In time, she realized there was enough of a legitimate market to contemplate using HoldoWare as a vehicle for dissimulating the shadier activities. And, with it, Petria began to be more accustomed to using the Holdo name as one of her main identities. The Sith Empire turned a blind eye to the shadier origins of the software being sold because she had a plan to develop Oorn Tchis that made use of the local workforce that was generally well-received among the local population.
