Home Is Where The Heart is

She had only left a little over a year ago and already Veronika was back. When she felt she had vowed never to return to Felucia. The memories were to painful and if she was ever to move forward she had just go. It would do her no good to stay here and be a hermit even if this was where she felt most comfortable.

It was happening again which was why she had to come back. Something had to be done to stop the burning. The burning of villages, innocent people, children and for what? Most of the Galaxy thought the planet was uninhabited. Even if they knew of the villages there was nothing of any real value here. It was more for sport than anything else which sickened her. Nobody knew this place better than her that was why she had to.

The Galactic Alliance had been made aware of the situation but before they had formed their task force Veronika was gone. She would keep in contact of course but she didn't need a big group tromping around the forest with her. She figured that was what they would send and she would never get any information that way. Nobody was going to talk to foreigners about their issues.

Closing her eyes Veronika sighed happily. The familiar taste of the air and the sounds of the creatures was calming and she found herself getting lost for a moment within it. Memories of a time gone past that she missed. Home, her brothers, her parents, all of it and now she was stuck within the chaotic Galaxy in which there was no peace. Veronika pretended not to be lost and to fit in but thus far it hadn't been working that well. She was a socially awkward young adult that was trying to fit in so to speak.

Out here in the forest was where she felt most at home, alive. As she passed though the trees Veronika was in her element waiting, watching for any unusual sounds.

Unusual sounds were definitely made by the once-Repblic Jedi as he walked through the jungle. His vanguard armor was made for many things, but stealth and subterfuge were not among them. A slight breeze took the edge of his warden cloak and lifted it, fluttering in the air currents and Julius stopped short, his hand hovering of the plain hilt of his lightsaber, but not yet pulling it from the clip wherein it hung from on his side. Something was out there, and he wasn't quite sure what. He resolved to work a little more calculatedly on sharpening his senses through the Force upon his return to Sullust.

The Galactic Alliance hadn't exactly sent him on this mission, per se. In reality he had merely been in the same room when the report came in, and were promptly shuffled aside for 'more important tasks'. Now, admittedly, some of those tasks did outrank this one in a purely objective stand point. But, perhaps the reason he did poorly in the Republic, Julius often had a poor objectivity and let himself become personally invested in things. This planet and it's people were deserving of some sort of action and help. And they deserved it now, not weeks or months later when they would be merely fixing broken pieces.

Hand still hovering over his hip, he neared the place where he had felt the faint flicker in the Force. It was not a terribly large, or malignant presence. But it was there, it was present, but not steady. Like a candle flame guttering in the wind, it was there and then gone and then there again. Stopping, his eyes lit on a flash of Veronika through the trees, Enough of a glimpse to see she was alone and likely not to terribly much of a threat. Relaxing his posture, he stood upright a little more, but his hand still hovered near the hilt of his saber, just in case. Too many years on the Outer Rim to ever be completely at peace.

She had spent her whole life out here in these forests hunting and playing so she was very well attuned to her surroundings. Bow raised Veronika's head turned as she heard unusual sounds coming from behind her. Giving him a once over her eyes rested for a moment to his saber. His hand was on it yet he hadn't pulled it out yet which she found to be a good sign. If he was meaning to kill her he would have been more subtle and have charged her by now. He was probably like her just being cautious as such she lowered the bow slightly.

"What are you doing out here?" The young woman questioned as she took a few steps towards where he was standing. She meant him no harm, she just wished to get a better view of him which she couldn't from behind the tree. Veronika never did have a way with words especially when it came to strangers. She needed to know if he was friend or foe and once that was established she would go from there. Veronika even may provide her name and assist him pending on what his business was here in her forest.

She doubted him to be from the Galactic Alliance as they had bigger fish to fry so to speak. In her mind there was no greater mission than helping the other villages or what was left of them get back on their feet. Sure they had been rivals at one point but now in this great time of need they had to band together. There was nothing more important to her than caring for those affected by this great tragedy. If she could find a way to stop this before it started, she would.

"Are you here to help?" She asked almost hopefully leaning back against a nearby tree. She had said enough for now, it was time to let him talk.
