When Jedi Knight Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el bested him, Reagan predicted he would be sent to a prison. What happened instead, he wasn’t a fan of. Transported to an asylum in Corellia offered their own unique challenges that he couldn’t account for. Most worryingly was the primary way they hampered his Force Sensitivity.

Regularly administered a highly modified version of what were essential Death Sticks, the popular but dangerous street drug. The addictive nature and adverse health effects were discarded, using it mainly for the way it greatly weakened his connection to The Force and as a sedative. Then came the various rehabilitation efforts that peeved Reagan to no end. Even if he hadn’t been here for very long yet.

Reagan had gotten some interesting news however, information that oddly enough brightened his day some. He was getting a visitor, which had piqued his curiosity, but also confused him some. Reagan didn’t really have anyone in his life that would want to visit him. To the Dark Jedi’s surprise it was none other than Valery Noble. Sword of the Jedi and wife to his very own half-brother. This gave him some concern, he’d never met the woman, but he heard stories, and rumors.

Whether he liked it or not he was taken from his room, and placed within the sparsely used visitation room. Nobody else was around, and the “patients” here rarely had visitors, Reagan wondered if he should count himself lucky. He sat back in a chair bolted to the floor that was noticeably too small for him. In front of him was a small table and beyond it another seat. The room was empty and he had no apparent restraints on him as he waited for his esteemed visitor. Although a pharmaceutical cocktail flowed through his body that made him all but Force Dead at the moment. Even if he wanted to act violent he couldn’t, the Jedi Master would most certainly overpower him, then if by some miracle he held his own a team of orderlies would rapidly storm in and overpower Reagan. He was at their mercy… for now.

Whenever Valery met relatives of Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble , it usually meant trouble. His father had tried to kill them or worse many times before, his brothers had caused her problems, and even a sister had rubbed her the wrong way. But she had also made him a promise that she'd try to help them if it was possible. One of his brothers had once tried to escape his father, but was captured by Bounty Hunters before she could secure him.

Now, another brother had been captured by the Alliance.

Similar to Danton Danton , he had been moved to Azrael Asylum but unlike him, she wasn't planning to sever him from the Force. She was aware that rumors about it had spread, but she hoped they hadn't reached Reagan yet. All she wanted was to talk to him, and figure out if there was anything good inside of him.

Something that could alter his path.

Eventually, the door to the visitation room opened, and Valery stepped inside, her expression calm and her eyes mostly cold. She closed the door behind her, stepped into the room with the click-clack of her boots growing louder, and stopped by her seat. "You must be Reagan Zambrano," she began before she sat down and watched him.

"I'm glad to finally meet you."

Soon enough, it was time and Reagan raised his head from his seated position. In contrast to Valery’s own cold eyes, his own held a thinly hidden excitement at the sight of her. There she was, the fabled Sword of the Jedi, and more than just some thorn in the side of The Sith. His gaze scanned over her, strange, he thought she would be a bit taller.

As she greeted him and sat across the sterile table, Reagan replied. “Valery Noble, your reputation precedes you Master Jedi.” He said he still wasn’t aware of her previously severing the Force’s connection with another individual. Reagan meant what he said in a more general sense. “So to what or whom do I owe the pleasure for us to get acquainted?” He asked, still not entirely sure what reason Valery had for coming here.

“Wait wait, let me guess, you’re not coming to me to ask for family secrets are you? Cause if so I can’t really share any embarrassing stories of your husband we weren’t particularly close.” Even that was a bit of an understatement and could be said of virtually everyone in the zambrano family. Taken to be raised and trained as a warrior. Honed as a weapon more so than the prestigious ways of real Sith Lords.

Reagan’s more rustic and rural accent had a rather confident and casual tone to it. And a cocky smirk had begun to creep over his face. Despite who he was sharing the room with, the moment Valery entered he was already feeling like he was in a better mood. Even though he expected a stereotypical calm, collected, and stoic Jedi. That was leagues above the drab, clinical and matter-of-fact behavior of the doctors, nurses and other staff of the Asylum. The fact that Valery was his sister in law was an added treat, and icing on the cake one might say.

Valery's eyes narrowed when he so casually joked around about the nature of her visit. Already, he didn't quite feel like other Zambranos she had met, except for maybe the more smug attitude. "No, this isn't about your family. This is about you," Valery said rather bluntly while her fiery gaze stared into his eyes. But it wasn't just his demeanor she was trying to read — through the Force, she wanted to understand how he felt, what he was perhaps thinking, and what his true nature really was.

Was there any good in him deep down? Or, like his father, was he far beyond redemption?

"You interest me because you're not quite like many of the other Zambranos. Most serve Carnifex as a puppet, but you aren't with his group of Sith, are you?" she asked before a hand idly came up to brush aside some hair, and tuck it behind her ear. She was calm, perhaps eerily so, and even managed a softer smile.

"I want to know what drives you in life."

Almost instantly Reagan’s demeanor changed some, raising an eyebrow and even leaning back some. Apparently being very thrown off by the Jedi’s words and stated reason for being here. The Dark Jedi more so expected the Jedi Master coming here just to jump at the opportunity to thoroughly interrogate a Zambrano for information. But instead she wanted to learn about… him?

In his state there was little he could do to hide his nature from her through The Force. It wouldn’t be hard for him to sense his confusion yet great intrigue. Oddly enough too, her words almost seemed to flatter him. Being spoken to as though he was a Zambrano in a league of his own, which he certainly likes to see himself as. Nodding back he finally spoke, “You’re right, but not just My Old Man’s Sith, I did away with the code after I graduated from an acolyte. Much to the dismay of my mentors at the time. Been a bit of a solo act ever since.” Reagan shared some as he watched the Jedi give a gentle smile.

When she asked what drives him in life he looked away and thought for a good moment. He wasn’t ignoring her question, but he didn’t quite know what to say even though he felt like he should. Perhaps he just never took the time to put his motives to words, at least not in a coherent way. “That’s a good question Mrs Noble…” He said looking back at her again. There was conflict inside the epicanthix, but not of some noble struggle against good and evil. Malignant energy tightly clung to Reagan's soul and mind even now. Suddenly his own demeanor changed and with it he shifted the dialog they were having. Maybe because of an abrupt change in interest, or maybe even some sort of mental and emotional smoke scene in an attempt to ward off Valery’s prying interest in him. If only temporarily.

“How’s Kahlil holding up? Like I said we were never close but just gotta ask. I know he caused quite a stir when he left. Man, I honestly wish I was still with the Sith when it was learned that he became a Jedi. I like to imagine it was quite the riot haha.” He laughed a bit at the end, creating a mental image on how that news must’ve affected the Sith. Seemingly showing little sympathy for The Sith and their concerns.

As someone who has always been very perceptive of emotions, Valery picked up on his confusion and intrigue easily enough. Most of these visits revolved around questioning or even interrogation, but Valery had no interest in the things he knew. She had other sources for such intel and instead believed that her purpose was to keep his darker side from harming the world around him once again. Was this a little too idealistic? Perhaps, but she wouldn't be a good Jedi if she didn't at least try.

"It's not easy walking away from that family," is all she said when he talked about abandoning the code, and her eyes would tell him that she understood. Together with her husband, she had gone through so much stress and trouble because of his father and the Zambrano name. So even though Reagan hadn't become a Jedi like Kahlil, it was likely still not an easy thing to leave behind for him either.

There was always the chance that Carnifex would try to use him as a puppet, too.

Valery then watched him after she asked her question, but felt a sudden shift in the Force. It was understandable that he didn't want to open up too much to a stranger, so she decided to go along with his change in topic, but only for a moment. She needed him to trust her or at least be intrigued enough to entertain the conversation.

"Kahlil is doing great, just busy with work and our kids like I am." She chuckled and smiled a friendly smile before she looked him in the eyes again, her expression still calm. "But I didn't come here to talk about him. I believe I can help you, but I have to know more about you first. This prison surely can't be the end of the road for you, hm?" she asked, and as she looked him in the eyes, she tried so hard to pierce through darkness, hoping to find some light.

Although still a bit skeptical Valery offered little reason why he shouldn’t be a little more trusting of her intentions here. Needing to make more of a judgment call now that he couldn’t rely on The Force here. Why the Jedi before him seemed to show any compassion was still beyond him, but he played along still since he didn’t really have anything else better to do today. Also talking to her so far has already been the highlight of his stay at the asylum. He didn’t wanna ruin that by being too abrasive or brash.

She gave a quick answer to his question about his half brother. Although she didn’t say much, she did just share some interesting information that was new to him. “Kids? As in plural? I already knew I had a niece through Kahlil, but I didn’t know there was more.” Reagan wasn’t aware there were some extra additions to the family through her and Kahlil. Already now he’d slipped up in his mental gatekeeping, if only a tiny bit. There was a tinge of emotional excitement from the news. A “blink and you’ll miss it” hint of warmth in himself that the Jedi Master in front of him could sense. Perhaps that was the light she was looking for.

He listened a bit more to what she had to say. She wanted to help him, all she wanted was some more knowledge about himself. He wasn’t yet sure though if he wanted her help. Was she really here to seek some sort of redemption from him? Turn him to the light like she already had with another Zambrano. The mention of this place not being the end of the road for him brought him back to the moment some. With it followed a seeming cloud of malevolence within himself. Blotting out the light she might’ve sensed a moment earlier. “Oh you’re right about that Valery. I don’t plan on sticking around here forever. My certainly breakout of here will be a breeze, and I’ve escaped far worse before. You even said so yourself a moment ago. Walking away from my family was no easy feat.” A loose yet sinister grin formed on his face. Gleefully thinking about his eventual escape from here. He despised the staff of this facility and was looking forward to when their security makes even the slightest slip up. He believed the staff were monitoring their conversation, Reagan even hoped that they were.

“So you wanna know more about me, right? You asked what drives me in life? Well it’s honestly quite simple. I’m the kind of guy now that values my independence and freedoms. After all that’s pretty much the ultimate goal of The Sith Code.
“Through victory my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.” I guess you could say I’ve taken that part to heart now.” Reagan explained some, restating the final section of the Sith’s code. “Thankfully with The Force doing what I want when I want ain’t too difficult. Plus it’s nice to be a thorn in the side of the Sith. Some of them have been called a poser or pretender before. Talking about how I’ll never know true power all the while licking the boots of their masters. If you ask me, they're the real pretenders.” Reagan explained some about himself, although honestly his words felt more like a half truth than anything like he was leaving out some crucial details. There was more to it than just acting like some care free dark side adept. So far the most genuine thing about Reagan little bit of interest he felt about Valery’s and Kahlil’s children.

"Three more actually - triplets," Valery said only because she felt as if he genuinely cared to hear about it. She didn't really admit it to strangers, but she loves talking about her family. It's the one thing in her life that she's truly proud of, so even though she was visiting a prisoner, she didn't mind sharing something about the people she loved so much. Of course, only because she knew that he wouldn't target them.

But even so, there was something more sinister about him.

It showed the moment he began to talk about what he considered an inevitable escape. Valery just narrowed her eyes, let out a soft sigh and brought a hand up through her hair, "I wouldn't be too sure about it. This place might not seem so bad, but it was built specifically to lock down people with great strength in the Force," she explained calmly but if he still insisted that he'd be able to escape, she wouldn't actually care too much.

"There is another way to get out of here though, but that's the difficult route." She looked him in the eyes and let out another soft sigh as she listened to him speak. "You know you can be a free man without impairing the freedom of others, right? You could live a life like your brother, my husband. But not like this."

Wow, three more additions already. Part of Reagan amusingly thought that if Kahlil kept up that pace he might give their father greater cause for concern. The Jedi before him didn’t seem to share his confidence that he would make it out of here on his own terms. But The Dark Jedi didn’t mind too much, thinking it would be nice to prove her wrong when he did.

Then Valery began to discuss her idea on how he could get out of her. Which she described as a more difficult route. Her statement was paired with some words that seemed to strike a nerve within Reagan. One didn’t even need to be attuned to the Force to tell it had upset him. She wanted to see him walk in the path of the light, like his brother. He rolled his eyes dismissively. “So is that what this is huh? Coming here hoping for a redemption from me like your husband? I-I-I almost can’t believe it…” His tone was getting a lot more hostile as he spoke. As if she had just offended him in some horrible manner. One of his hands clenched the metal arm rest on his chair.

“Even now after getting out of the clutches of the Sith I’m still stuck in the shadow of another damn Zambrano. And it’s gotta be Kahlil? Out of all my siblings he has to be the one I need to strive to be more like?” Reagan was expressing a little more than he would desire. Hinting now at some ugly insecurity of his. An inferiority complex that has haunted him since he was a child. Always needing to measure up next to his siblings, be they naturally conserved or birthed in a test tube. The conflict that ate away at Reagan was one of pride and hypocrisy. Wanting to have nothing to do with his family while still secretly desiring their approval more than anything else. It was irrational and ridiculous, and yet he couldn’t rid himself of it.

Realizing his feelings were getting the better of him, Reagan took a deep breath and quickly began to regain his composure. Valery’s words, intentional or not, had dispelled the more calm, collected, and confident attitude he was putting on. Looking back to the Jedi he spoke and was no longer gripping the metal arm that was now crushed and dented with the groves of his fingers. “Sorry Valery, but that ain’t happening. I’m done living my life concerned with being overshadowed by members of my family. Regardless if they’re Sith… or Jedi.” His tone changed to being much less hostile. Maybe Reagan could see himself becoming a Jedi if his brother hadn't beaten him too it. Now he's just a thug so long as it means it's devoid of the influence of his last name. Reagan was too preoccupied with pride and standing out and unique and different from the legions of siblings he shared his name with. So even the last thing he said wasn't entirely honest.

There was a spike of hostility in the man before her, a sign that reminded her why he was here and not out there a free man. But Valery could see through these bursts of emotion, especially because he seemed to calm down very quickly as well. Was there actually a conflict of some kind inside of him? Or was she just imagining something that she wanted to see.

"I didn't cause the redemption of my husband," Valery began, knowing she had certainly played a huge part in why he came back the second time. She was his anchor to the Light and to life as much as he was her own. But for now, she wanted this conversation to focus on Reagan, and not her husband or any other Zambrano.

"This isn't about being like or better than your family," Valery stressed as a result.

"It's about being free but without all of this. You want to live your life without people holding you down, but how do you think others want to live theirs? Your actions are selfish and suppress other people's freedom to supposedly better your own. But look at where that got you." She glanced around, hoping to drive home the point that he was absolutely not free at all.

"You've put yourself in chains, but you can live without them while others do the same. And sure, you can try to escape and even if you succeed, you're not free. I don't know why you're trying to fool yourself, but you'd be a wanted man and every step you take in life, you'll be forced to look over your shoulders."

She shrugged her shoulders this time and ran a hand up through her hair, "There are better ways to live your life."

Many of the Jedi’s points were valid, Reagan couldn’t really dispute them. But they were also not things he was really ignorant of. He was a bully, he used his strength to punch down on others. She even called him out on the fact that his actions and abuse of his power has brought him to the asylum. Sedated and caged. Reasoning too that if he did break out that he still wouldn’t be free.

Arguably even if he did, and never had to look over his shoulder or be worried about being a wanted man he’d still be shackled by darkness and it's easy, intoxicating power. But even with this in mind Reagan was still critical of Valery’s views. “Okay fine let’s entertain your idea then. Say I can walk the path of the light starting today. I can find atonement, hell, I could even possibly find true redemption. But that wouldn’t really fix anything now would it. Sure we might all feel a little better about ourselves. Maybe that’s the issue with your Jedi types. Conflateing redemption with actually righting wrongs, and with true justice.” Reagan began to explain some, elaborating on why he himself feels it’s a hopeless matter for himself and by extension all those who have walked and embraced darkness.

A large part of Reagan believed it was too late for him. He’s hurt people, and simply turning a new leaf just wouldn’t cut in his mind. If anything it would just be insulting and robbing the people he has hurt from seeing justice. Redemption wasn’t what he needed, and it wasn’t what he deserved either. “All I see for myself now is an endless struggle against those who seek nothing more than harsh retribution against me. Whether it’s from being a wanted man, an enemy of the Jedi, or a deserter of the Sith and my family. I’ve hurt too many people and made too many enemies that I’ll always be looking over my shoulder no matter where I choose to go. All I have is myself and the darkness inside of me, and I can’t afford to give up such a powerful tool. Cause if I do, if I hold back then…” Reagan paused for a moment before bringing his hands together on the table. Grabbing his wrist he gave a sudden twist to it followed by an audible clicking noise from it. He pulled off his synthetic hand. A simple prosthetic replacement was afforded to him even in the asylum as a disability. Placing his now removed hand on the table between himself and Valery he gestured at it.

“That’s what happens if I hesitate, when I let doubt creep into me and lose my passion. When the desire to win is outshined by the desire to compromise or concede. And I’ll let you take a guess as to who took my hands.” A near constant reminder bestowed upon him now. Every curl of a finger, every clench of his fist, and every time he grabbed something was in some way a reminder of what was at stake for him and what he could lose. Even though he no longer considered himself a Sith. The darkside still had a vicious stranglehold on him. Only wishing that he could've spared his younger self of most of it.

"It sounds like you've already given up," Valery said in conclusion to everything he told her, fiery eyes only briefly glancing down at the hand on the table. "Redemption alone might not fix everything that happened, or change the wrongs you've done. Nor will it remove the enemies you've made from your life. But it's a first step on a difficult path to actually fix things. You just have to be willing to take those chances."

She let out a soft sigh and looked him in the eyes a moment longer. Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble had gone through so much to be where he is now, to be respected and not seen as an enemy. He could do the same and build up his own life as a free man, but the Dark Side just seemed like an easier route.

As it always did.

"The choice is yours to make, Reagan. Either this is a turning point, and you commit to something that might take years and will be difficult, but can change things around for the better. Or you stay who you are now, and you either rot away here or will be followed by what you did forever."

Despite Valery’s presence and critical view of him. He couldn’t lie; it was actually nice to talk about these things, even with an enemy. It’s not like he had many opportunities to open up in any way with anyone. Although she didn’t agree with him she wasn’t really that dismissive of his words or concerns either. Reagan was more so the one being obtuse here.

The Dark Side was a vile seductress, and she was not easy to turn away from. It may have helped him a lot to remove himself from the Sith but it also made his relationship with the darkness all the more personal. No longer could he so easily point his finger at someone else and blame them for his problems. A small price to pay for the freedom he sought after. But still a price.

“As much as it pains me to admit it, especially a Jedi Master like yourself. You’re right Valery. But we never really know what the future holds now do we. Even the most insightful prophet of the Force can be blind sided.” He replied before grabbing his severed cybernetic hand. Bringing it to his wrist and clicking it back into place. “Although it seems like we’re at a bit of an impasse, your words have given me a lot to consider, Valery. I’d like to imagine that our meeting here leaves you with a lasting impression and that maybe my own words will have a similar effect.” Reagan’s tone seemed to suggest that he was mostly done now talking to Valery. “But I get the feeling you might be as stubborn and uncompromising in your principles as my father is. So I’m not gonna hold out hope.” Of course he needed to add in a rather backhanded remark against the Jedi Master that sat across from him. Creating a comparison between Valery and Carnifex.

“It’s been nice Chatting Valery, always a pleasure getting to meet more of the family isn’t it? Let’s try not to be strangers now shall we?” Reagan said, and seemed fine with concluding their somewhat brief meeting here today. He didn’t think she’d be interested in banging her head against the metaphorical wall of their conflicting ideals. “And one last thing if you’d be willing to take a simple request from me. It’d mean the world to me if you could tell your little ones that their Uncle Reagan says hello and that I’m sorry I haven’t made it to any of their birthdays.” Although there was a sly smirk on his face, though the Force, Valery wouldn’t be able to sense any actual malice from saying that. Not like he had pretty much the entire time she was here.

Well, he was right about her being a bit stubborn for sure, but she wasn't going to admit to that. Especially not when it came to her views on life — they had already changed drastically over the years. If they hadn't, they wouldn't be talking right now. She'd have made sure that he was killed, the way she was taught as a Jedi Shadow of the Old Republic. No, she wasn't that uncompromising in her principles, but she did feel strongly about what she told him today.

"You have left an impression on me," She did finally admit. "But likely not the kind that you're thinking, or perhaps hoping for." She didn't see things his way, nor did anything he told her really changed the way she felt. He had even agreed with what she said, so Valery just believed there was actually hope.

Even if it was very slim.

"It's been nice Chatting Valery, always a pleasure getting to meet more of the family isn't it? Let's try not to be strangers now shall we?"

Valery chuckled and shook her head a little, "Perhaps I'll visit again, but that more so depends on you." She really hoped that her next visit wouldn't be to investigate his escape, or an attempt at an escape. Valery then looked at him, as he made his request, and perhaps what he said just now left her with the most potent impression of him. There really was something good down below those levels of corruption.

"I'll let them know. Thank you for talking to me, and have a good day."

He was actually rather glad she didn’t seem to just dismiss his last request for her. Valery also didn’t seem to just be saying that to humor him either. That actually left Reagan was a pretty genuine smile afterwards. “Thank you Mrs. Noble, and take care now…” He said as she exited the visiting room. The Dark Jedi only needed to wait for a moment before a trio of staff entered the room soon after.

“Ready to go back to your room Mr. Zambrano.” Said the nurse, flanked on either side of her was an imposing orderly. Reagan glanced over at the trio before nodding and getting himself back up. He was then escorted back out of the empty visitors room. “I hope your meeting went well.” The nurse spoke up and looked back at Reagan.

“Absolutely, I suppose I can consider myself very lucky. That room doesn't seem to get much use here.” Reagan replied with a somewhat positive tone.

“That’s very good to hear, and sounds like you're finally seems like you’re making some progress here now.” Before he got back to his room they made a quick stop for him to take his meds. Being a bit behind schedule now just from his rather brief meeting with Valery earlier. Reagan was handed a small disposable cup with his medication, a pill sitting at the bottom of it and was given a small bottle of water to take with it. The pharmaceutical was a less harmful and slightly modified version of the popular death stick street drug. Helpful here for its effect to dampen one’s connection to The Force.

However, there was a blink and you’d miss it moment just now that Reagan took advantage of it. With a bit of sleight of hand he took out the medication and hid it just time to avoid getting caught. Once the nurse and orderlies looked back at him, Reagan pretended to take the medication before drinking the bottle of water right after. Trying to keep cool and casual, just going through the motions before opening his mouth to show the nurse he “took” his medicine like he was supposed to do.
“Good, I’ll come back to check in on you for your evening dose.”

With that Reagan was finally brought back to his room here and left alone. The Dark Jedi was pleased with himself stepping over to his toilet and he brought his hand to his wrist. Digging some under the layer of synth-skin before pulling out the pill he concealed under it. Grabbing the drug he looked down at it before dropping it in the toilet bowl and flushing it away. Smirking all the while. Already feeling his connection to The Force strengthening…
