Hot War with the Pubs

Just letting you guys know that after many weeks of deliberating with the Faction Administrators of the Galactic Republic about the Cold War concept, we felt that both sides reached an impasse in the discussions. The idea of the Cold War was originally this: a proposed mutual agreement by both factions to have a period of OOC peace in order to let our factions heal after a series of contentious invasions.

During our talks, we offered many options as alternatives to invasions, such as story-driven skirmishes and the capture of the Eye. At the end of the day, the two factions couldn't come to an agreement. We feel that given the circumstances, a continuation of the current war is in the best interest of the OS. Therefore, we have elected to continue our former path of invasions. As our recent poll showed, an equal number of you guys also want a variety of faction threads and lore expansion. Rest assured that we heard you loud and clear, and we will have plenty of those as well.

What's so hard to come to terms with in an OOC truce? If it is the best interest to take a break OOC simply don't attack and don't look for IC interaction. I really don't get the whole we need an OOC break so let's still thread. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Maybe this is the dad in me, but if you can't play nice then quit playing together until you've cooled off and remember it is a game.

Just my two cents but hey, I realize I'm an old guy compared to most here so...

They did win an invasion, once. At Carida, early in the war. Guess they want an attack to work for once though. We're gonna slap that down like bacon in the frying pan of course.

It can, and probably will still happen. Conditions need to be right for it. Win these two upcoming invasions and our position for bargaining will increase, at that point we can get ourselves into the correct spot to do a Civil War Properly.

The story can't play out with our full focus if we have to bat away invasions.

You've hit the nail on the head. We weren't looking for an OOC break from the republic. We were looking for a chance to interact with them under a lower ceiling, where we could trudge full force into story telling and do something unique. While both teams agreed to entertain this idea, at the end of the day, we couldn't agree on what would catalyze it.

This isn't about what the GR did or what the OS did. This is about writers needing to get along and write with one another. Until we can move past these titles of major factions, an OOC ceasefire wont have the same impact as separating two fighting children. It would be closer to just pausing during a big battle sequence. Why? Well because the groups can continue to talk about each other in the open and behind closed doors. And the quickest way to show someone they are wrong is by interacting with them and showing them.
