- Life Support Systems on board are able to support a variety of life forms or even completely storing all of the air aboard the vessel during combat to ensure that explosive decompression doesn't damage the ship. This includes tie ins to each combat and possible passenger station to a combat air supply that will reduce the chances of personnel unnecessarily being killed due to lack of air or a piece of the ship being vented into space.
- Extensive Navigation computer with large amounts of charts, navigational data, and known hyperspace routes from a large area of the sectors the ship is present in to assist with calculations of where enemy ships might have jumped to and possible locations of note in the sector.
- Remote control weapons stations allow for centralized fire controls and backup stations in case primary fire control is destroyed.
- Low profile of the vessel makes it more difficult to hit than standard corvettes and other larger vessels.
- FIE-2 Engines in the rear of the ship provide massive power output for the entirety of the vessel, giving it a huge thrust to weight ratio compared to other ships of its class.
- Wind Talker Class Communications Array Technology to ensure the most effective and secure communications technology available on the market today. This allows for the ship to be able to share information gathered all along its various sensor packages almost instantaneously with extreme levels of quality. And with an extreme encryption level, this makes it particularly difficult to break into.
- Remainder of weapons package gives commanders of this vessel many options when defending themselves, the Deimos Laser Cannons, MLMS Zeus launchers, and the Eagle Eye/Hawk Eye targeting systems gives this ship unprecedented accuracy alongside being able to generate volumes of fire conducive to defeating many enemy fighter craft and munitions.
- Has the ability to receive fire control data remotely from sister vessels or specialized Blood Hound Corvettes, making this vessel able to coordinate strikes on targets normally hidden to the vessel. This makes the vessel able to flex outside of its normal operating parameters so long as the proper support is present to enable this.
- Gotta Go Fast: This Gunboat was designed with two things in mind when it comes to standard gunships and offensive Corvettes. Active countermeasures such as laser cannons capable of point defense, chaff/flares, even missiles, and speed. Lots of speed. This vessel is designed to be able to catch up to and otherwise screen against a variety of smaller craft and support larger vessels in battle. This allows for these vessels to remain focused on their job of dealing with fighters, smugglers, or other tasks as a picket vessel in any fleet.
- Accurate and flexible targeting system: This ship has some of the best targeting and fire control systems out there in the Eagle Eye and Hawk Eye Fire Control Systems. And while these systems are much more accurate and advanced than your standard T/FCS units out there, they really shine in their ability to network with other systems in the ship's fleet, allowing a ship to target, and formulate a shooting solution for the vessel, send that solution in real time, and allow this vessel to take the shot and adjust in real time. This requires the vessels with more advanced equipment or better data to formulate the shot for the vessel, but nonetheless is a great boon to fleets who are used to working closely in sync.
- An excellent scout vessel with fast hyperdrive: This ship has a 0.5 rated Hyperdrive with good speed and a good all around sensor package. This allows for the vessel to act as the vanguard of your fleet, giving you eyes ahead of the main body and if things start to go haywire, it can quickly jump away and get out of dodge.
- Focuses on active defense: This vessel's focus on an active style of defense, such as speed, laser cannons and other active defenses, leaves its hull very weak. This means that when hits are scored with more standard weapons such as Turbolasers, Laser Cannons, or other direct fire weapon systems they will be much more effective as the hull armor plating is thinner than the standard Gunboat. So if you're aboard this ship, a good rule of thumb is to not get shot.
- Requires support fleet: This ship has a relative skeleton crew aboard the vessel, meaning that it has just enough gunners, pilots, and support staff to properly man all the stations. There is no on board security personnel, nor is there more than one person for every two to take over for more significant positions if personnel go down. This means that while it could technically do longer range runs on its own, this is very much ill advised, as this ship has sacrificed much of the standard amenities and even escape pods to reduce its size and needed complement.
- It's still a Corvette class: This ship is not a battleship, it's not a carrier, and it is most definitely not something that will arrive in system and cause everyone in system to go into shock because of the stupid amount of power behind it. It's a Gunboat. It's barely over 100 meters long. This ship will get utterly annihilated if it tries to go head to head with something with even remotely heavier firepower than it, or just enough fighters and ships of similar size just surrounding and dog piling it. It cannot, and I can't stress this enough, cannot change the course of a battle by itself, or even project a presence in the system that would cause most enemies to think twice. And if you try to have this punch outside of its weight class, you'll very quickly figure out why, if you survive that is.
After the construction and fielding of the Blood Hound Class of Sensor Corvettes, Freebirds Industries immediately realized a need to build vessels to assist, cover and otherwise protect these high value assets in the fleet. Enter the Hound. These Gunboats are designed for a singular purpose, which is to be a screening vessel to deal with enemy fighters, munitions and otherwise protect other high value assets of CIS/SLDF fleets from smaller threats while they focused on much bigger higher priority targets. This vessel accomplishes with a more efficient application of crew, speed, and firepower that makes up both active defenses and offensive options to keep it in the fight and protect other ships. This combined with this ship's ability to speed around the battle space allows it to remain flexible and act both as an interceptor of enemy forces, or as a more static screening vessel to protect your high value assets. And this vessel while not overly massive or otherwise exceptionally powerful, gets the job done and done well without making something too large, lethargic or otherwise hindered by going for an all in one approach.
