STRENGTHS
Representing the penultimate in defensive ground fortification made by house Aquila that's open to the general public, the Tyton is armed with some of the most powerful weapons and defenses house Aquila has sought fit to make. Following the success of their CROSS shield system, the first of the Mk.C pattern walkers was little more than a stationary weapon platform used to defend city walls and military encampments. After coming days working on the platform that would enable it to move was considerably harder, moving from tracks being too limiting and unable to move across many terrains in which this machine was intended to be employed, to hover systems present in their earlier technology, though sadly they did not provide the stability required to fire its massive guns.
It was Dr. Malpheen who devised a the walker system which used repulsorlift generators to enable a 6 legged spider-like frame to move at a speed in atmospheric conditions. Being able to toggle these on and off would afford the system the weight required to stabilize itself when firing its main cannons or full volleys without creating too much recoil which could imbalance the entire system, potentially damaging joints or more. Finally, a hybrid magnetic / mechanical clamping anchoring system was attached to each of its legs, affording it the ability to attach to surfaces to almost eliminate any semblance of recoil entirely, while allowing the model to pitch its frame in order to angle upward or to any side like a gun platform.
From its perched and locked in position, testing on how capable it and the hummingbird system were at intercepting projectiles. It was able to eliminate straight moving projectiles at incredibly high rates. Able to target and bring down ship class craft with no issue, though its efficiency at eliminating maneuvering craft, while high, was far less certain and would be generally determined by the skill of the pilots and gunners. When it came to mass projectiles, measured with TIE class barrage rockets, with tailored equipment it was able to eliminate 97% of all projectiles which moved to 100% when a second unit was placed strategically to provide another axis of fire, even with multiple volleys. Volleys of smart missiles were eliminated with 83% efficiency. When tested to see at what volume it required to overwhelm the system, it was determined that a single unit was able to target 3 individual projectiles per second with each of its weapons.
Finally, when it came to its defensive roll, the CROSS shield which forms a dome around the unit, it was proven able to be able to deal with weapons as powerful as the weapons that it, itself employs. Though a capitol class artillery round would all but annihilate many Layers of the CROSS shield system, its ability to cycle between two seperate shield units in order to allow one to repair takes the edge off of the assault, affording it to take more hits than one would expect. Though concentrated assault by smaller weapons will find CROSS shields disabled quickly, they will quickly find that the Ultrachrome B armour plating that covers the unit in duplicate will reveal the walker to be effective against little short of artillery.
All the while, crew within the ship have small, little more than cubby pods in order to sleep scattered above and below, which can also be covered over and hidden should it be needed as their ports are small. The ship recycles water through filtration and can store enough food and consumables to keep its crew alive for up to two weeks should they ration well, while its munition stores are good enough for several days thanks to energy converters and its advanced power source.
In summary, the Tyton is able to stand its ground, hold the line and defend it until it either wins, or everything around it has fallen.
- Hammer of the Gods: The Tyton was invented to be the penultimate defensive mobile walker in the galaxy, capable of brandishing a capitol class weapon upon itself its able to engage almost any class of vehicle at almost any range with extreme accuracy and prejudice. The front facing compartment of the outer shell opening to reveal the central cannon of the Tyton, or subsequently side ports, under-mounted batteries and mounted gunnery arrays afford the Mk. C its title of king in the realm of defensive emplacements.
- Cross Battlefield Capability: Though its equipment is often the measure of its range, the Tyton's systems have long enough range to scan massive areas with complex scanning arrays able to detect heat, life-signs, thermal sonar, EM fields and more across massive ranges. These scanners are then filtered through a calculation AI to provide the pilots with the information required to make pinpoint accurate shots at these incredible ranges to intercept moving objects even at extreme speeds and/or distances.
- Hummingbird System: An integrated AI that allows rapid calculations of range, trajectory, acceleration, forces and other facets which allow the advanced scanning and targeting systems aboard the Tyton to be able to target and intercept fast moving objects such as missile swarms and engage them with extreme prejudice. Simply put, a single Tyton can systematically eradicate almost entire volleys of missile fire should it be placed and equipped properly due to no other than this system.
- Adamantine Hull: Whether it be the dozen and a half layer Redundant CROSS shielding forming an environment hugging dome, the Ultrachrome Dermal Armour plating which serves to coat the entire integral frame of the unit, hardening usual weak points such as joints and exposed gaps in its armour. Or the plated shell consisting its core armour, the Mk. C has some of the thickest hide in the CIS, made to take singular extreme impacts off of its shields while its plated shield hull protects its guns, passengers and softer systems from the harrowing assaults of most everything else. Comparable to the legendary At-At's of the past, little short of a turbo-laser could hope to breach its shell, while dedicated mass assault would be required to overwhelm its shields.
- Long Term Bulwark: Equipped with enough ammunition, food, water and amenities to be able to functionally house its working crew, the Mk. C is capable of holding a siege position for weeks with its consumable stash or fight for days depending on intensity without need of an ammunition resupply.
- Transport Capability: The Tyton is capable of carrying just over two dozen additional passengers in a hold which can also carry up to two speeder craft, affording it some ability as an all terrain troop carrier.
- All Terrain Capable: The Six legs and repulsion technology with the micro-generators which pepper the systems legs and belly afford some anti-gravity properties to the Mk. C. This advantage allows the Tyton to move as if it's lighter upon ground or terrain it might otherwise not be able to move across or free itself from. This combined with its six legs has a range of motion which affords it the ability to climb surfaces that tracked or wheeled vehicles could never hope to.
- Advanced Power Supply: The Isotope 5 reactor core and Ion backup generator core allow the Tyton to have extremely large amounts of power, high enough to maintain its monodirectional personal shielding as well as operate all of its weapons at full capacity. However this diminishes if one of the generators are destroyed.
- Modular Systems: Like many Aquila products, universal ports have been installed across the entire surface of the vehicle allowing the Tyton to trade out almost any weapon system or substance used by it for another, however due to the advanced systems in play, it is only compatible with other weapons made exclusively by House Aquila. Allowing custom personal Tyton units to be better equipped for unique missions or simply at the will of the driver.
- Easily Immobilized: The micro repulsor systems that can be found peppering the surface of the Tyton, especially the main units across the bottom of its upper legs, should enough of them be damaged or destroyed due to the weight of the Tyton, it becomes incapable of moving at anything more than an extremely slow speed on any terrain other than urban pavement as it becomes likely to collapse uneven or non reinforced ground under its weight potentially causing excessive structural damage.
- Mounted Defense: The Mk. C in order to use its main gun must be not only still, but anchored in place into a siege position which allows it to moderate the incredible recoil on the capitol class weapon that it is firing.
- Predictive Movement: Due to the sheer mass of the structure, the Tyton, while able to move forward with some speed upon most terrains, its incapable of turning at these high speeds, requiring to slow to very low speeds first or to turn in very wide arcs thanks to its spider-like design making its movement extremely predictable to lock-on systems and rangefinders.
- Cumbersome: One of the largest issues in making a precision walker like this is typically that its difficult to see where its going or know the consequences of its movement.
